Have eaten there and have had good food and service. Yesterday the 4 year old who was with me said pancakes were what was wanted so off to Coco Frutti we went. Pancakes with a side of bacon was ordered and not wanting eggs, I ordered the smoked meat wrap which is on the menu having caramelized onions and Swiss cheese. Also fries and a salad. Also all lunch items included soup and desert. More than I wanted but I figured I could take home what I didn't eat. I was told soup was chicken with rice, very good, but was not told of the tomato parmesan option. Meal came, fries were hot and crispy, salad looked wilted and cucumbers were transparent, they were cut so thin. Tomatoes were like julliened slivers. Okay maybe the way they do it. However, the wrap was 75% lettuce. Small portion of meat, no caramelized onions and no cheese. I removed the lettuce which portion wise was the same as the side salad. It had what appeared and tasted like a mayo mixture. I remarked this to the waitress who said she would bring my comments to the proper person. I lost my appetite and did not finish my lunch. When the waitress came back I asked for the menu to verify that there was to be caramelized onions and cheese, she opened the menu and then closed it not allowing me to look. She offered my desert and I asked for it to go. Upon coming back I was informed that I could not have my desert as it was along with the soup complimentary with the meal and therefore had to be eaten on the premises or not at all. the owner had told her this. By this time I had paid the bill, left a minimal tip as the service was ridiculous and said I paid for the desert only to be told it was complimentary and I had only paid for the wrap. I asked again about the onions and cheese and was told there were onions and cheese on the wrap, mixed with the lettuce and no the onions were not caramelized just plain.
Didn't get what I paid for, rude waitress, no communication from owner and a dissatisfied customer. At no time did I ask for a cost adjustment, at no time did I intend not to pay. Live and learn....they serve a good breakfast and there are items I would still have wanted to try but lunch....nope and certainly not at this location. With social media so wide spread, all businesses must do the best job they can in providing the best of what they do and remember if you have it presented on a menu or description, that is what you must...
Read morei went in with my friends and our families with high hopes to try a new place as we were visiting Belleville. the service was quick and fast, staff was super friendly and the place was clean and tidy. unfortunately, those were the only positive things about this place. now come to the main thing which is food. honestly it was a bad experience, the food had no taste in it, it was purely bland. omelette with mushroom, shallot, onion and brie had no shallots in it and it was not served with toasts. i never denied having toast or never asked not to serve it, then i have to ask them separately to serve the toasts (even the receipt says no toast, i dont know why?). for this meal i requested to add caramelized onions on potatoes for additional $1.25 (according to their menu, photo attached) but they charged me $6.20 for it! the reason they gave me was because i did not asked for it at time of placing order, instead i requested it 5 minutes after the order was placed! really? if someone forgets to ask or add something at time of placing order, you will charge 5 times the price? the omelette with smoked salmon, shallots, onion had no smoked salmon. seems like they used commercially available $1 tin packed salmon from local grocery store. it had very strong and bad kind of fish smell. again, this was totally bland and no taste in omelette itself. compare the pictures i took of the food with what they have shown in their menu. overall, i do NOT recommend going to this place, there are far better options out there, even tim hortons food taste...
Read moreCoco Frutti is a very clean restaurant, as you'd expect from an establishment that's only been open for about a month. The wait staff was friendly, and reasonably prompt.
The presentation of the food was nice. Everything looked appetizing. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving. The pieces of fruit included on my plate looked, and tasted, fresh. The bacon was excellent, not too limp and fatty, not burned to a crisp. The toast was as good as one might expect. However, of my two "over easy" eggs, one was not runny at all, and the other had just a scant amount of runny yolk in it. I also had a crepe. It was another fail. It was over cooked to the point of being crisp. When I put my fork into it the crepe literally shattered into sharp shards.
Now, to be fair, I just ate what I was given. I don't usually complain about such things. I'm sure if I gave the staff the opportunity to rectify the situation they would have. I'm only writing about it now because my phone asked me what my experience was like. I had no intention of writing this.
Overall, my experience was pleasant. However, it doesn't take away from the fact that two of the main parts of my breakfast were less...
