Disappointed by the Changes at McDonald's

As a long-time loyal customer, I’m genuinely disappointed by the recent changes at McDonald’s.

First off, the end of free drink refills is frustrating. For decades, I’ve been able to refill my drink without issue—at this location and countless others across the country. Tonight, I was told (politely, I’ll add) that refills are no longer offered. It may seem like a small thing, but it’s one of those customer-friendly gestures that made McDonald's feel welcoming. Removing that just feels stingy.

Then there’s the new soft serve mix. I’ve always looked forward to the seasonal Cadbury McFlurry and usually stop by multiple times a week when it’s available. This year, I could barely get through a bite. Thinking it might have been a one-off, I gave it another try the next day—same issue. I even went to another location, and it was just as bad. The Cadbury mix-in itself is still great, but the new soft serve base is unpleasant—light, airy, and lacking that creamy flavor it used to have. Even a plain cone didn’t help. The quality just isn’t there anymore.

The newly renovated restaurant looks modern, but it lacks the warmth and personality that McDonald’s used to have. It feels more like a sterile café than the familiar place so many of us grew up enjoying.

With declining food quality, lost perks like drink refills, and a colder atmosphere overall, it’s hard to justify returning—especially when other chains like Burger King, Wendy’s, Arby’s, Harvey’s, and local spots still offer better service and value.

It’s disheartening to see such a once-reliable brand drift so far from what made it great. Sadly, I don’t see myself...

I've been going to this location for the last 8 years that I have been living in Chatham and never ONCE have I had something like THIS happen. My girlfriend and her mom went through the drive thru around 12:23am (July 4th) and as soon as she got back home she gave me my meal and I started off by eating my fries. Everything was all good till I started getting closer to the bottom...after moving and shifting some fries around and to my utter shock and surprise exactly what falls out of the bottom of the container?!?! A DEAD FLY!!! I have NEVER felt more disgusted and nauseated in my entire life than when I have at this very moment!! I could not finish my fries I tossed them out (as there was also a dark hair at the bottom as well) and I honestly wanna throw up because of how nauseous I am. At this point I don't even wanna finish my double big mac now this is the WORST and most disgusting experience I've had at this location I don't even think I'll be back to it after this...I feel really sick to my stomach knowing that I ate the majority of my fries without knowing there was a dead fly close...

24 hour service. They do break around 4am to reset their system so keep that in mind when you go to get your late/early munching on.

Your typical McD's. Nothing special.

Mobile ordering, Self serve Kiosks, table service, and play place are some of the few amenities they offer here.

I have rated them 4 stars due to inaccurate orders on more occasions than I would like. Nobody is perfect. They are good on honoring the mistakes made if you inform them.

I recommend Downloading their app for weekly offers like free hashbrowns/fries or deals on signature sandwiches and wraps. Plus you can pre-order and have it ready when make it to the curbside or front desk! THE FUTURE!

I have been here many times throughout my life. Once as child attending a birthday party and recently bringing my daughter and her friends there for her birthday party as a father. Like all "Golden Arches" stretching across the globe this place is full of memories from all the many people that graced its presence. Why not stop by and make some memories yourself.
