New review from Mother’s Day.

Figured I’d update this based on my latest experience.

Brought the wife here for Mother’s Day. Rolled the dice, cause we didn’t have a reservation, but we got lucky and got a seat.

Our server Jeremy, who is excellent, mentioned it was the first time they did bunch. Since it was Mother’s Day brunch they offered a one price menu that included a pastry starter, the main which could be more breakfast themed or lunch themed, and another pastry desert.

In my effort to be brief, the pastries were all excellent. Some of the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve spent months in France. Sadly, the food made in house wasn’t great. Mine was borderline bad, which was disappointing, as I really like this place and the food.

I got the chicken waffle. It was very crunchy, but the meat inside was borderline undercooked. So I’m guessing the oil was too hot. Beyond all that, it was made with boneless chicken thigh, which I prefer on the BBQ, but I felt some white meat would have been better. Truth is, all that were minor issues, as the chicken and batter were just plain bland. Like no flavour. Nothing. The waffle was cooked perfectly, but again, there was very little syrup or anything to bring it to life. Next time some sauce for the chicken would do wonders for this meal, not that I’d ever go down that rabbit hole again. Lesson learned.

The Missus had eggs Benedict, and she had the same issue. Bland. She makes a great eggs benny from scratch, so she’s got standards. This sauce didn’t even come close in her books. Beyond the sauce, the pea meal bacon was a sight to behold. Like a 1/2 inch thick. She said it was very good. The side was supposed to be crispy potatoes, which it turns out were tater tots. Poor choice PBC. Tots, though delicious at times, seemed lazy when the customer comes to expect food made in house.

Ultimately, we’ll be back. PBC has earned a do-over and that’s why I’m not changing my review score yet. We normally leave very satisfied. Just not this time around.

Check out the photos I added from our last meal.

Top marks for everything here. The beer was great and offered something different. The food was all made fresh in house and very tasty. We’re planning to make this a frequent trip from Stoney Creek.

The wife and I both had a flight, which they did a good job curating. I enjoyed all my beers, while the Mrs liked 3 of 4. Not to worry, I helped her with that one.

Food wise, the kids had pizza which was excellent. The sauce was the real standout (I tried a piece) as it was very fresh and had a crushed tomato quality to it. It reminded me of eating pizza in Italy.

I had the risotto, which looked amazing and was also very good. Admittedly, I’m not a risotto guy, but I wanted to try something different and it was recommended. Still, personal preference aside, it was hot, well made and tasty.

My wife went with the fish and chips which looked and tasted excellent. The fish was large and the chips were fresh cut and seasoned very well. As for the slaw, it was a vinegar based one which cleaned the palate nicely. Beyond that, the sauces (seafood and tartar) were seemingly all made in house too. We got the impression that the tartar sauce had capers in it instead of pickles and the seafood sauce tasted like nothing you’d get from a jar. They were excellent.

At the end of the day the food was excellent. The server was attentive, personable and friendly (he didn’t seem too bothered by my 3 year-old crawling through his legs while he was taking to us 🤦‍♂️). And the ambiance is pretty good too.

If you’re in the area, or even if you’re not, I recommend the drive to Paris Brewery. You don’t have to like beer to go, as they have many other options from wine to fancy sodas, plus there’s the...

We went for some walks near Elora and then decided to head down to Paris for some food and drinks. Found the brewery on Google and we do love our brewery tours!

Nice place, sort of tucked away near the LCBO. Scott was behind the plexiglass - great name but very helpful with info on the beers, the food, and even some hiking trails.

I wanted to get the weekly pizza special which was pierogi pizza. However, they were out of potatoes and, being vegetarian, I didn’t want bacon so that would have been a boring pierogi pizza. One lady working said she could get me a bowl of vegetarian chilli from the deli/bottle shop side that they usually serve for lunch fare. I wish I had gotten her name but it was incredibly nice and a bit out of the way for them but it was good and very much appreciated. Not always easy to find hearty vegetarian dishes at a brew pub (notwithstanding appetizers).

I also got the pint and pretzel and my better half got the pork schnitzel (they were out of the chicken schnitzel) and I’m very confident she was happy with that choice (the garlic lemon aioli dip that came with the fries was amazing). We ended each with getting dessert - banana crème brûlée and harvest pumpkin cheesecake. If they have the banana crème brûlée when you go, get it! It was like banana cream pie without the crust but with a nice sugar glaze on top. Fantastic!

The beers were all quite good, not hoppy at all, as you can find often with craft breweries. Apparently one owner is a master brewer straight from Bavaria so he knows a thing or two about brewing. The Oktoberfest is great and only on for a short time. The dunkel was also very good. A good selection overall though so surely you’ll find a...

As described by others, a true local gem 💎

We went here for dinner on a Tuesday, which (unintentionally) happened to be their pizza and beer night special - both at reduced costs.

We went to the rear beer garden and were promptly greeted and sat. The patio is nice and has a good atmosphere - fun music (not loud), an awning, heaters and even a wood burning stove with chopped firewood sat nearby. Staff were immediately very welcoming and friendly from start to finish.

We ordered a couple of their craft beer offerings and they were phenomenal, particularly the "Bumble, Mint, Honey, Weissbier". I generally steer clear of anything minty in my food / drink, but wow is this ever a delicious, refreshing beer. The mint is VERY subtle.

For mains, we had the Diavola pizza (pictured) and the Calzone Napoli, and both were incredible (easily our new favorite local pizza spot!). Both were huge, but light and crispy. The Calzone was perfectly filled and both dishes had a slight char to them which I was nervous about at first but really do add to the flavor + chasing with a small sip of beer 😜 Awesome!

For reference, our bill came to $70 after the two meals and three drinks. Very affordable for the quality of food, drink and service that you are receiving!

Very dog friendly environment! Staff were super accommodating and our dog had a great time - treats and fresh water for her were greatly appreciated!

Overall a superb local eatery and brewery that you...
