Poke A Bowl — Restaurant in Ontario

I usually don't post reviews unless the product or service is excellent. I rarely post reviews if I'm not happy with the service or product as I don’t like to harm the livelihood of others. But I thought, 'I work hard and provide exceptional service for my customers; why shouldn't others, especially when you're paying, do the same?' I hope to help them do better! First time here. The food was OK. I have had a Poke Bowls in the GTA, before, where the portions were much larger than here. All toppings are very similar. I found the portions here to be small. I left hungry after eating and paid a premium for the Super Bowl that had all the fish (Tuna, Salmon, Shrimp). I could count the pieces of fish. They had measuring spoons like other stores, but did not use them by filling them as other stores do. Different places give all toppings at no extra charge, but they wanted an additional $1.49 for a spoonful of corn kernels. I found they were holding back on the portions of all items. Seemed very impatient. I question how a poke store in the GTA, where rent is much higher, can give me more for the same price and with a smile. I hope...

Made my first visit to Poke A Bowl today with a friend of mine (today's photographer) and I'm extremely happy that I did. Poke A Bowl came recommended from the boyfriend of one of her coworkers and I can see why; the bowls are DELICIOUS.

I ordered the Rainbow Bowl with a sushi rice base while she chose the 'Build Your Own Bowl option, also with a sushi rice base.

The Rainbow Bowl was fantastic; spicy, savory and with enough Wasabi mayo to have me breathing clearly through both nostrils despite it being -20°C, right now. Her build-your-own featured shrimp, spicy salmon and mango chunks among other ingredients and was a sweeter, smoother bowl than my spicy/crunchy one.

The person working the counter was very pleasant and assembled our bowls quickly. The restaurant has seating for 15-16 people, though I think most of their business is probably take-out, so you should be able to get a seat.

Will absolutely be returning for another visit. Next time I think I'll be trying...

I loved this place! This is my second time coming, and we were able to have quite a healthy lunch here. Mia, the owner, is the only staff member. She preps all the food and creates whatever bowl you want! She's extremely efficient and quick. With only her there, you would think one would have to wait a while for food, but I was sitting down with my bowl in less than one minute. It was faster than fast food, legit. And more filling (but not so filling that you want to roll yourself out of the store).

The inside color scheme is very bright. I may not have picked the same colors, but the place is clean and adeptly run.
