My fiancee and I went here for dinner on Thursday October 16, 2025. we place our orders. I get the wrong thing, no biggie, send it back to kitchen and ask for menu to reorder. specifically point to the item I want and she says okay, our waitress walks back to kitchen and comes back out with the plate of wrong food says she can't take it back we have to keep it but she'll give us 50% off. sure whatever. I don't want it but I don't want to argue. then my fiancee is sitting with her meal and waiting to eat it as I just reordered my meal, after an additional 20 minutes go by our waitress comes back out to our table and asks if she didn't like her meal and would like a to go box as well. she said oh I was waiting to eat with him, and she says oh, I can go get you another plate then... my fiancee and I look at each other confused and then say no we ordered another meal the meal I had initially asked for. she goes oh okay, well I can go place the order right now for you and have them start it. I said no no just the bull Jesus Christ just the bull please. so not only did I have to pay for a meal that we didn't ask for/didn't eat. we had to wait in this restaurant for almost an hour to NOT eat. she brings the bill and NO take out box, so my fiancee asks for a take out box again for the burrito and she agrees and goes back and gets it. then proceeded to stand over top while paying and give a glaring look as "NO TIP" was selected. like what part of any of our dining experience did you think was going to result in a tip, we were there just shy of an hour, paid $50 and neither of us got to eat...
proceeded to go to BBOYZ next door and get a burger, we eat our meals at home and as she's eating her food a chipotle chicken burrito, there was almost no chicken/veggies in it
she ended up having to unwrap it, remove about 60% of the rice ( was essentially a rice wrap) and add our own ingredients to it to make it edible.
it was a wild ride from start to finish, won't be returning here ever again. poor food quality,...
Read moreGood service and nice place, really disappointing food.
Burrito filling was 40% flavourless rice, 40% lettuce and only about 20% meat or anything flavourful lost in the middle. A big bland mushy sad burrito.
Kids meals were really nothing special or catered to kids beyond the potion size. Not great value at $12 a kid either as only a few dollars less than their regular menu equivalent, but half the portion size on the main item (2 taco dorados instead of 4 for only $3 dollars less, or a half sized quesadilla) and it’s $4.50 extra if you want meat in the quesadilla. Sure it comes with a drink and dessert but a small glass of chocolate milk/soft drink and a small cup of plain vanilla ice cream or jelly (no offer for sauce or anything like that) isn’t going to get a kid excited for it. They’re probably going to need another drink and want something decent off the dessert menu anyway so you’ll end up paying similar to adult price for your kid. Most of their meal was a pile of bland rice and lettuce neither of them really enjoyed. It was the same rice as was loaded into the burrito so you can imagine how bland the burrito was when filled with the same rice that even children found flavourless.
A couple other items ordered were ok but nothing worth recommending or returning for, this raised it from the 1 star the burrito and kids meals earned.
Apparently the owners are from Mexico, imo then they should be embarrassed to say on the menu “from the streets of Mexico.” Perhaps they left the country to escape the flavour and passion of the food. I’m no expert but my partner is Mexican American and her mother owns a Mexican restaurant in Texas so I’ve tried a decent amount of both Authentic Mexican and Mexican inspired food in several countries (I’m from Europe and like to go to Mexican restaurants when I see them) and genuinely struggle to think of any I’ve had worse than this anywhere...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Chilangos Restaurant
I recently visited Chilangos Restaurant and unfortunately, I had a highly unsatisfactory experience that I feel compelled to share. The main cause of my disappointment stems from the misleading advertising of their half-off appetizers after 9 pm, which was prominently displayed in multiple places without any conditions specified.
Upon arrival, my companions and I were eager to take advantage of this enticing offer. However, to our dismay, we were informed after placing our orders that the discount only applied if we also ordered drinks with our food. This abrupt revelation left us feeling deceived and deeply dissatisfied with the restaurant's integrity.
Transparency in advertising is crucial, and when a promotion is advertised without clear conditions, it creates a sense of false expectations. The lack of disclosure regarding the requirement to purchase drinks alongside the appetizers was both misleading and dishonest on the part of Chilangos. This practice tarnished our dining experience and left us feeling undervalued as customers.
As patrons, we expect honesty and fairness from establishments we choose to dine at. Unfortunately, Chilangos failed to meet these expectations, resulting in a significant negative impact on our overall dining experience. It is disheartening to witness a restaurant resort to such tactics, as it undermines the trust between customers and the establishment.
I hope that Chilangos takes this feedback constructively and reevaluates its advertising practices to ensure transparency and consistency in the future. Honest and upfront communication is vital in maintaining a positive relationship with customers and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
In light of my disappointing experience, I regretfully cannot recommend Chilangos Restaurant to others who seek a reliable and honest...
