Riley's Bakery — Restaurant in Ontario

My experience today at Riley's was not a good one. Before continuing, the bread was delicious as always. So my rating for that is a five star. When I went in today there were 2 people ahead of me, so not overly busy. I ordered a turkey sandwich with lettuce and mayo. It was thrown together and wrapped in 3 seconds flat. Trying to eat the first half without wearing it was very challenging. Luckily I had napkins in my packsack. When I unwrapped the second half (which was only a quarter) all I could see was a little sliver of bread with turkey slathered in mayo bulging out. There was nowhere to hold it without getting full of mayo. So I went back to show them. According to the sandwich maker, that's how they make their sandwiches, oh, and there bread has air pockets so the mayo seeps through. Really?? We arrived just after 3 pm and we could only order an egg salad sandwich. At first I was disappointed until the very pleasant young lady explained that the meat slicer had to be cleaned at 3. I totally understand, the bakery closes at 3:30 so they must have time to totally clean the slicer. Before closing. All was not lost they had some charcuterie type individual serving plates available, we bought 2 as well as 2 containers with deviled eggs. Very good. Also pick up a pair of bakery treats for desert . I highly recommend this bakery the food was delicious . Get there before 3 if you want a meat sandwich but if you don’t. I used to LOVE Riley’s sandwiches and when the new owners came in I was a little afraid. The sandwiches if you go in and buy one sandwich were the exact same but the owners were very rude and so was the boy at the cash. Well fast forward to this weekend when we got a platter for my sons birthday party it was not Riley’s sandwiches! The bread was dry and thin like regular Dempsters bread from the grocery store the sandwiches were barely filled with meat snd egg salad. Very disappointed.. I have gotten a platter from them for every event we’ve had but now the new owners ruined it!
