Today…our life was changed for the better…YUM!
We had the pleasure of dining at Shanghai Bistro in Windsor, and I must say, it was a delightful experience that exceeded all expectations. As self-proclaimed Chinese food enthusiasts, my husband and I have explored the culinary scenes in various cities, from the renowned Spadina Ave in Toronto to bustling NYC. However, until now, Windsor had failed to deliver the same level of palatable Chinese cuisine. That is, until we stumbled upon Shanghai Bistro.
The moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor was tasteful, creating a cozy ambiance that made us feel right at home. The attention to detail in the restaurant's design was evident, and it truly added to the overall dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the food. Shanghai Bistro blew our socks off with its incredible menu offerings. From the first bite to the last, every dish was a masterpiece. The flavors were authentic and bold, showcasing the true essence of traditional Chinese cuisine. Each plate was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, making the dining experience truly memorable. I cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoyed every single bite.
In addition to the outstanding food, I would be remiss not to mention the exceptional service provided by our server, Faye. She went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Her knowledge of the menu, attentiveness, and friendly demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Faye truly deserves a round of applause for her impeccable service.
As we left Shanghai Bistro, we couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and gratitude for having discovered this gem in Windsor. For anyone who appreciates traditional Chinese food, I wholeheartedly recommend Shanghai Bistro. The flavors, the atmosphere, and the outstanding service all contribute to an unforgettable dining experience.
To truly savor the restaurant's offerings, I highly recommend dining in. The atmosphere adds an extra dimension to the culinary journey, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience. So, don't hesitate—make a reservation and get ready to indulge in some of the best Chinese cuisine Windsor has to offer.

Read moreHonestly, I'd given up eating Chinese food in Windsor. But a random craving had me reading and comparing reviews for Dim Sum and we decided to try Shanghai Bistro. The service could have been a little better. Upon arrival I stood there for a while wondering if I was supposed to be waiting to be seated or finding my own seat as the only person visible was behind the counter probably taking a phone order. Quite a few tables had yet to be cleared. I ended up seating myself, looking over the menu and eventually a server came out, spoke to me and took my drink order. It was around 4:45/5....As more people started to come in I noticed other servers were present and our water glasses stayed full, although the initial server didn't revisit the table to check on us after the food was delivered. I can look past it because I was blown away by how good the food was. lol We started with soup filled dumplings (I'll be thinking about them for the next few days), beef buns (also good), Singapore vermicelli (yum), Sweet and sour chicken w/ fried rice which was light and crisp (not a ball of dough and not overly sweet), and stir fried broccoli in garlic sauce. EVERYTHING tasted so fresh and flavorful. I can not say enough about the food. Between 2 of us, we were stuffed and both took home some broccoli and vermicelli. It would have been enough food to split between 3 people w/ another order of dim sum of course lol. Will definitely be back. Its my favorite Chinese restaurant in Windsor- the only place I'll go here...And did I mention how good the dumplings...
Read moreThe owners are amazing. My brother and I decided to order a couple dishes off Uber Eats, but in doing so, there was a malfunction with the app in which it didn’t let us use our credits so we had to pay the price in full. Upset with this, my brother contacted Uber and they cancelled our order. Unfortunately the order had already gone through to Shanghai Bistro and Uber advised us to go pick the food up ourselves even though we placed delivery. When we went, my brother explained the situation to the owner in which he said he was also not paid due to Uber’s cancellation. My brother stated he would pay, but the owner just told us that it was okay to take the meal without paying and to use their website directly to place orders. When we got home, my brother called the restaurant again and insisted on paying, but the owner declined. They didn’t have to, but we are very appreciative of their kind gesture.
Going on to their food, we had ordered the general tao chicken combo and the house special fried rice. To start, the chicken was not dry and it was a good portion size for its price. Not to mention, it came with a spring roll and some wonton soup. The house special fried rice is my favorite, it is so flavorful and full of ingredients. They were not stingy whatsoever with the shrimp (unlike some restaurants). Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for authentic...
