My husband and I stopped in to this place the other day for dinner and I will not be back. I ordered a bowl for some special thing they had going on, like some sort of daily deal. They asked if I wanted regular or large. I said regular and then quickly changed my mind to large. After he was done kwying it all in, he told me something like "well the daily deal doesn't apply to this because you got a large." OK? So that's fine, but when I ordered the daily deal why did you ask me if I wanted regular or large and then not tell me the daily deal didn't apply to the large? Scummy. My husband then ordered the other daily deal shawarma wrap they asked him what size and he said large. So the guy keys in all the toppings and such and then right before my husband is about to pay goes "oh by the way you cant get the daily deal in a large." OK? Again, why not tell us that when you know we ordered a large? He then tells my husband that he can pay extra for double meat and then it will be big enough since the large doesn't apply to the daily deal. It was like they were purposefully getting us to order the large and then "forgetting" to let us know the daily deal price didn't apply to the large. The food was not good, the shawarma was dry and barely any sauce. We used to come to this tahinis all the time when it first open back in 2019 or so and to say it is now a major letdown is not harsh enough. Scummy tricksters lying and trying to upcharge you by not telling you the large size isn't applicable to the daily deal price but offering you large anyway and not informing you. Save your money and don't go to this...
Read moreWe picked this place because it was close to the Reptilia and we wanted to have some middle Eastern cuisine.
When we ordered the food the employee at the front was speaking a foreign language with his colleague while looking at me which was awkward to say the least and really uncomfortable.
I ordered a gyros and got beef gyros. The problem is that I was not told that it is beef just gyros so I assumed it was chicken.
I ordered the large wrap but it seems the only difference between regular wrap and large is the size of the wrap and not the contents. While I was holding it in my hand I felt like there is nothing inside and when opened to look I got my confirmation, there was like 70% sauce and rest solids. That said I still got full from it so my suggestion is that just go with a regular size if you eat the same thing.
My wife ordered hummus with a side of falafel. The falafel was good enough, nothing remarkable but not bad at all. The hummus had a bit too much lemon for our taste and was less tasty then the falafel.
When finished dining we wanted to change diapers. The accessible toilet was locked and when we asked to open it we got a refuse and no explanation as to why, I felt the reason is only that the employees, or the employee in charge to be more precise did not want to open it for us for diaper change.
All in all not a bad place if you come without a baby and you are in the area and have a real need for mediocre at best middle Eastern food, otherwise I would pass and personally I will probably...
Read moreI hate leaving poor reviews. The staff is friendly, the location is clean and has a great vibe (most likely even better when the dining room is actually open). But it comes down to the food and this was a major let down. In a city where we are fortunate enough to have establishments like Barakat and Shelby's (oh, and Shawarma House in Byron), an experience like this is a stark reminder how lucky we are on the shawarma front. Ok... a wrap is all about balance. It's a hand-held food that one should be able to consume while walking about. This was unbelievably sloppy. WAY too much sauce took over what could have been good flavour, and after a few bites, left me with a plate that was quite revolting to look at - let alone finish (and I just asked for the regular wrap toppings... nothing extra). I'm sure the ingredients are good and the flavour probably satisfies, but how am I to know when everything is thrown together so poorly? The above mentioned restaurants are not spectacular due to their ingredients and flavour (although they all rock it in their own ways), but it's the care they put into their food that carries their glowing reputations. Tahinis... you've got to do better. An interesting menu, a good looking location, and a few smiling faces don't make up for such shoddy food. Very...
