First time back after the pandemic hiatus and I was very disappointed. I'll point out that I have over 1200 submission to google maps with photos and reviews of restaurants. I have over 20 million views of my pics. I know what I know and I've been there many times in the past. So, having said that, let's start with the basics. The music was far too loud and not the right tempo or tone for dinner. The table beside ours asked for the music to be turned down - but they didn't. That table had an elderly lady (I'm going to say 90+) who likely couldn't hear a thing above the noise. We ordered the Prime Rib because it is their featured offering on Sunday - which means it should be what they concentrate on - but they missed the mark entirely. When I've dined here in the past, they always brought bread and butter to the table. In fact, it was one of their best features. We didn't get either. From the time we were seated to deciding and ordering was an average time. About five minutes. Dinner was served about five minutes after that. Now I'm so in for expedited service at a fast food restaurant - but not at a decent dine in establishment. The entire plate was about room temperature. Now I could have returned the plate then and there, but I feared a microwave and over cooked meat so I decided to move forward. The mashed potatoes were supposed to have horseradish in them. They did not. The 10oz cut contained a lot of fat (see photo) and the au jus was more like canned gravy. We had to ask for horseradish and there was no salt or pepper. I had difficulties with the meat and excused myself from the table. By the time I returned, the server had come by with the cheque. I still had more than half a plate of food. I gave this review two stars because the server and service were great and the food smells from the kitchen were divine! Sadly. The food was a big miss.

I've been eating at the Grizz for probably 20 years. Unfortunately we must of visited on a bad evening, the restaurant was a ghost town but to be honest we did have 4:30 PM reservations. Service was great at first, drinks came out, appetizers came out on time and it all tasted pretty good. Then the main course. Something I've been looking forward to all day. I ordered the large prime rib. Wow! What a disappointment!! I really think the restaurant tried to sell me last nights prime rib. I ordered medium rare, but it came out looking like a rubber stamp, and tasted no better. I took two bites and left it on my plate. Now, you would think that a waitress would ask if everything was fine with the meal? Especially seeing a $40 piece of prime rib sitting on a plate, uneaten? Nope! "Would you like a take out container" I was asked? Luckily my wife and daughters meal was good and they didn't want me to make a scene at my daughters university graduation dinner. I now take pen to paper (so to speak) and complain in a much more orderly fashion without incident and embarrassment to all involved. Grizz staff, if your reading? I sure hope this evening was a one off? Your prime rib dinner is in the pic. Thanks for the take out container!

My husband and I came here for Sunday brunch. The experience was less than satisfactory. First of all, we stood by the reception table for a good five minutes waiting for the waitress. It wasn’t until other guests came in that the chef told us to just sit wherever we wanted to. My husband ordered the hungry man’s breakfast with daily soup and I ordered the mushroom frittata with home fries. Our ordered arrived 30+ minutes after ordering. Fine, because we weren’t hungry at all. Hungry man’s breakfast contained steak (see photo) - 50%+ fat in the steak. Daily soup was obviously overnight chicken noodle soup with vinegar spilled into it. What was left of the steak was very good, cooked to the perfect tenderness. Mushroom frittata - the menu said there was goat cheese in the frittata but I swear I couldn’t taste it. The frittata was incredibly dry and unseasoned. The home fries were very good though, I give them that. In all fairness this is a steak house. However, if you’re not going to serve good brunch, maybe you shouldn’t offer a brunch menu.

Get ready for this novel, the manager of this location should be ashamed. She made her young waitresses take the brunt of her bad management. For context we reserved a very large service as we were here for the Gaels cup soccer tournament. We brought 50 people. We have done this at so many tournaments over the years and had great experiences with no issues. The first red flag was being sent an email a week before giving us a very limited menu we had to order from in advance. Although, we were hoping that this would make the ordering/prep process easier so this made sense to us. However, it made it more difficult. The staff aka the two kind young girls assigned to serve 50 people still didn’t have it correct when we arrived and were scrambling to figure out who ordered what with no help from the manager who coordinated the reservation. We ended up having to go to the bar to pay/order drinks after 30 minutes of waiting and no one ever ended up taking a drink order for us in the end (which they said made things difficult for them after the fact?) They were not busy by the way! At the most 8 other tables with three people each most of which already had been served. Food arrived and took a good 20 minutes for them to figure out who’s item belonged to who. Portions were extremely small and everyone’s food was burnt in some shape or another. The side salad or fries we were allowed to choose were at the most a scoop. Every item we were given to choose from was $20. Now the worst part, we asked in advance if we could bring two cakes to celebrate one of our players birthdays as again the limited menu they gave us had no desserts on it. They agreed to this and put the small cakes in their kitchen fridge to keep them cool while we ate. we had finished our dinner, (which after serving no one came to check to make sure everything was good at any point) we had to clean up our own plates after no one came around to do so after everyone finished as we were preparing for the cakes we brought. They brought the cakes up for us and brought small plates and utensils to use. Our teams moms cut the cakes and served each player. A parent had gone down to get her bill after no one had come up in a while and the waitress told her she needed to pay a $10 “cake cutting fee”. When the waitress was told we cut and served the cakes we brought ourselves it changed into a fee for bringing the plates up and putting the cakes in their fridge. I am not joking . Our parents/team who had just spent over $1000+ on food and wine bottles and brought in tons of business on a empty Saturday night were reasonably very angry. However the worst part of all this is that after our parents spoke to them how inappropriate and scummy it was, the manager who was hiding and making her young staff control the chaos made fun of us while we were all standing their waiting to pay. She never apologized or tried to help her staff she just rolled her eyes and stayed silent. This place is not worth it for so many reasons. I don’t think I’ve ever had a worse experience anywhere in my life. And we still ended up having to pay the cake cutting fee as they told us we had to. One of their bouncers was waiting outside and holding the door open for our group of mainly 12 year old girls to leave! Manager and her waitresses followed our group down the stairs as we walked out. Absolutely...

I had a very disappointing experience at the Grizzly Grill. I’m originally from Kingston and had friends visiting from out of town, so I wanted to show them around. We started the night at Jack Astor’s, where we had a fantastic time. Afterward, I thought it would be fun to show them a bit of the bar scene and chose the Grizzly Grill for drinks and pool Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by a server who was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. She approached our table abruptly and said, “What do you guys want?” in a harsh tone. Taken aback, we politely said we needed a few more minutes. She gave us a look of annoyance and walked away. When she returned about 10 minutes later, we said we’d like to play pool first and might order drinks after. When one of my friends asked how to reserve a pool table, she snapped back, “Go to the bar,”. That was the extent of our interaction with her, and although I didn’t get her name, her behaviour was unacceptable and should be addressed. We then tried to make the most of the night and enjoyed playing pool for about an hour. When we left the Grizzly Grill we decided to go to Stages Nightclub across the street. We were stopped at the door of Stages and told we couldn’t be let in due to a message received over the radio from Grizzly Grill staff. Confused, we returned to the Grizzly Grill to ask what had happened. We were told that we were “too intoxicated,” which made no sense to any of us—no one in our group had more than two drinks over a two-hour span. I asked one of the bouncers what signs of intoxication they had observed, and he just laughed in my face. Multiple staff members laughed at us in a way that felt condescending and humiliating. When I asked the Grizzly Grill bouncer directly if he had radioed Stages about us, he denied it. At this point, we were completely confused and frustrated. This experience felt like we were being unfairly profiled or punished for no reason, and the lack of accountability or clear explanation was concerning. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously. The staff is extremely rude and unpleasant, it truly ruined our night.

The employees in this establishment seriously need to be held accountable, not sure if the bouncer are on some power trip or something but there is a serious issue here. The one bouncer told me he was from OAKVILLE ONTARIO 😭😭😭😭😭😭 so that might have explained his attitude and...

Overlooked spot to eat while I was a Queen's student. I graduated around 10 years ago and only ate at the Grizzly Grill once, which was a fluke.

The prices are more expensive compared to other restaurants on Princess, but for good reason. The food is Amazing. The staff will take care of you (that was Sara for us, the one who just started a few nights ago, the one from Alberta, I think -- please keep her on the earlier dining shift, always. I predict she'll get more glowing reviews and up your restaurants reputation online/overall if you keep her on the earlier shift ).

My partner and I came up to visit Kingston just for the day to reminisce our separate times at Queen's. We stumbled into deciding to eat here after Grecco's wait too long, and discovering that Mino's wasn't offering dine-in options expert for Friday and Saturday (we came to visit on a Thursday). Anyway, I'm so happy Grizzly Grill had no wait and seated us right away.

The craving platter for 1 was way more food than two people could eat and finish. It was mouth watering delicious and a great way to sample many of the items on their menu. The only thing I didn't like (there was two):

  1. The prime rib portion was serves as shavings. It just tastes like tasty stir-fried beef (no offense). Perhaps changing the description to "Prime Beef shavings" would be a more accurate description.

  2. The spice that was on everything, ended up being on the fries, chicken wings and dry-rub ribs was unexpectedly spicy, it has heat that I didn't enjoy since I was not expecting it. I suspect that it was from the dry-rub that made things gently, but surely fiery, that I did not like. Much too much dry rub and it was way too salty for my liking.

EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AMAZING. THE PEI MUSSELS. THE PRIME RIB I HAD 10 YEARS AGO, I still have just a good memory of eating it.

Students, this is where you want to take your parents instead/as an alternative to Chez Piggy's. You won't...
