Update #2: I completely forgot to update this. They did respond to me after apologizing for missing my emails the first time around. They also compensated me for my meal and I gave them another try. This time around things went quite lovely. It was pretty busy but everything seemed to go quite quickly, especially for how busy they were. Again, the potatoes were a pretty small portion for the price but that's how it is these days. Their pancakes were delicious this time around and staff was attentive. I have changed my rating to 4 stars for this time around! When emailing with (I think the owner) it was again very lovely, as all staff are and they were very apologetic which I appreciate. Update: I emailed twice and never received a response which is too bad. It's better to not respond to a review than respond with a generic line to email and then never reply to my email. Ok so I do want to say the staff was so lovely and welcoming (every time I've gone to the bakery they've always been the same). That being said, that's kind of where the loveliness ended for me. I have eaten here a couple times in the past few years (their mac and cheese is so good but i usually just buy it from the bakery to reheat at home). Past experiences were pleasant and I really wanted to love my visit there but I just did not. I got there at 830am so I was lucky to be seated right away. However, it took an hour from the time I was seated for my food to get to the table. 'The traditional' was so so. I got it with ham which was good but could have used some more potatoes to be honest considering the price. The ketchup that came with it was very watery so I didn't eat it. The jam was really good, however the bread (I asked for it not to be toasted) was still kind of hard which was unexpected and disappointing since it's a bakery. Now the pancakes - these were pretty disappointing. It was an extra $2 to add chocolate chips and they only threw a few on one side of the pancakes. And then one of them was raw in the middle. Now I understand things happen and they did attempt to rectify it when I asked for a replacement pancake BUT it took another 20 minutes for them to bring me the replacement pancake AND there was no chocolate chips in it. Considering it was $19 for the chocolate chip pancakes with a couple slices of bacon ($17 plus $2 upcharge for chocolate chips), the experience could have been much better. All in all it was "ok". The parts that were good, were pretty good. However, for the price, all the waiting, and the mishaps, the good just unfortunately wasn't good enough to make up for it. I did not want to be harsh and give only 2 stars so I gave 3 since half stars aren't an option. I will continue to go to the bakery to support becuase they really do have some delicious items in their bakery but I don't think I'll be back to eat here unfortunately.

If you're in Kingston and looking for a great breakfast spot, I highly recommend Toast & Jam. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be good - the smell of fresh baked goods wafting through the air was irresistible. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with plenty of seating in a spacious and airy dining area. I visited Toast & Jam on a weekday during a business trip, and was surprised to see the restaurant packed with customers even at 2 PM. Despite the crowd, the service was excellent - the servers were friendly and accommodating, happy to chat and offer recommendations from the extensive menu. I opted for the French toast and coffee, and it was nothing short of delicious. The French toast itself was very unique - it had a cake-like texture and was topped with syrup and whipped cream. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and left me feeling completely satisfied. While I can't speak to every item on the menu, I can say that everything I saw looked absolutely mouth-watering. I definitely plan on returning to Toast & Jam to try more of their offerings. Another great thing about Toast & Jam is the plentiful parking available right up front. And if you're in the mood for some baked goods to go, they have a dedicated section on the side of the restaurant where you can pick up treats to enjoy later. All in all, I highly recommend Toast & Jam for a delicious breakfast or brunch experience. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is top-notch. Don't miss out on this Kingston gem - I know I'll be back!

I visited Toast and Jam on back to back mornings. On both days I got the BLT with creamy tomato soup. I also ordered sourdough toast with raspberry jam. The BLT is amazing. AMAZING! The bacon is what all bacon should be everywhere all the time. I'm sure time of year helped, but the L and T were very fresh and very flavourful. The croissant was light and flakey and just plain delicious. The mayo that they use is excellent and many steps above a regular mayo and pulls the whole sandwich together. The creamy tomato soup was fantastic. On my second day I switched out the soup for the roasted potatoes. They were good but paled in comparison to the soup. And as long as I am going to get food from a place called Toast and Jam, I'm going to order toast and jam as it is one of my favourite comfort foods. Sour dough with homemade raspberry jam and whipped butter. Excellent! You might think " it's just toast, how can you mess that up?" Trust me, places often do mess it up but these guys don't. Fresh bread toasted to perfection with delicious jam and butter! It also needs to said that everyone that I spoke to there was very friendly and seemed to genuinely happy to be at work. An as a side note - their coffee is very good! Kingston is lucky to have such an excellent breakfast/lunch place. Thanks Toast and Jam, I will be back, soon I hope.

We came for a Mother’s Day brunch around 1pm today, put our name down for a table and were quoted a 20 minute wait. We were fine with that as we had heard it was worth the wait. However, we noticed after about half an hour that groups that had come after us were being sat before us. We asked if we had possibly missed our name being called, although they had come to collect a family just beforehand. They said they remembered us and that we were just waiting on a table to be free (the two groups ahead of us were similar in size to ours, so it wasn’t due to our party size). It became clear that they had missed us and were scrambling to seat us quickly. They offered us a bar top with our 2 year old in tow, which we had to decline for obvious safety reasons. When a regular table became available, we were sat shortly after. We were glad to put it behind us and just enjoy our brunch, but then the issues continued. One of our party ordered a caramel macchiato, they were out of caramel and she wasn’t told until it was already being made. Then they forgot the maple in my maple London fog. When the food arrived, there was blueberry compote on the French toast. The party member asked for it to be remade without the compote, and the kitchen declined. She was provided a plate to cut off the pieces with compote so she could eat around it. We were highly confused why, after all the issues thus far, and given the high prices they charge, they wouldn’t simply remake a couple pieces of bread and egg. We found the overall experience strange and unenjoyable. Our server was wonderful, unfortunately however, we will not be returning. For $130 for 2 eggs Benny, one kids grilled cheese and one French toast, the least they could do is focus a little harder on customer...

Went for mothers day brunch and thought the pricing of their specials wasn't really special at all. 🤣 Their bakery prices were quadrupally shocking ($57 for a "large chicken pot pie" that would feed... 2 people. Ouf. Brutal.)

I ordered the French toast and to my mistake, did not see where it said there was fruit sludge drenching it all over. It didn't come with maple syrup either and was quite disappointed when it came to the table. I understand this was a mistake on my part not reading the menu in detail but as we had waited for so long I had made up my mind about what I wanted long before we even sat down and didn't think to double check. Instead of remaking the order, I was offered a sharp steak knife to remove the bits that were covered in the fruit compote and a side plate to put the extra bits. 😅 Quite a fancy way to eat your breakfast.

As I ate around the contents of my plate, the French toast was more like a loaf of egg with the weirdest texture ever. Definitely do NOT recommend the French toast. You will likely be extremely disappointed, especially granted the cost.

They also didn't have caramel for the $8.50 Caramel Machiatto I ordered and waited 30 minutes for. So that was a second disappointment.

We were passed up for several tables on our way into the restaurant and offered a table that did not meet our needs as we had expressed we needed when we first joined the waitlist. We ended up waited closer to 4t minutes to be sat afterbeing quoted about 20 minutes.

The whole experience was very disappointing and I will not be going back for mediocre food for the cost of a high end breakfast restaurant.

The server was...
