Update #2: I completely forgot to update this. They did respond to me after apologizing for missing my emails the first time around. They also compensated me for my meal and I gave them another try. This time around things went quite lovely. It was pretty busy but everything seemed to go quite quickly, especially for how busy they were. Again, the potatoes were a pretty small portion for the price but that's how it is these days. Their pancakes were delicious this time around and staff was attentive. I have changed my rating to 4 stars for this time around! When emailing with (I think the owner) it was again very lovely, as all staff are and they were very apologetic which I appreciate. Update: I emailed twice and never received a response which is too bad. It's better to not respond to a review than respond with a generic line to email and then never reply to my email. Ok so I do want to say the staff was so lovely and welcoming (every time I've gone to the bakery they've always been the same). That being said, that's kind of where the loveliness ended for me. I have eaten here a couple times in the past few years (their mac and cheese is so good but i usually just buy it from the bakery to reheat at home). Past experiences were pleasant and I really wanted to love my visit there but I just did not. I got there at 830am so I was lucky to be seated right away. However, it took an hour from the time I was seated for my food to get to the table. 'The traditional' was so so. I got it with ham which was good but could have used some more potatoes to be honest considering the price. The ketchup that came with it was very watery so I didn't eat it. The jam was really good, however the bread (I asked for it not to be toasted) was still kind of hard which was unexpected and disappointing since it's a bakery. Now the pancakes - these were pretty disappointing. It was an extra $2 to add chocolate chips and they only threw a few on one side of the pancakes. And then one of them was raw in the middle. Now I understand things happen and they did attempt to rectify it when I asked for a replacement pancake BUT it took another 20 minutes for them to bring me the replacement pancake AND there was no chocolate chips in it. Considering it was $19 for the chocolate chip pancakes with a couple slices of bacon ($17 plus $2 upcharge for chocolate chips), the experience could have been much better. All in all it was "ok". The parts that were good, were pretty good. However, for the price, all the waiting, and the mishaps, the good just unfortunately wasn't good enough to make up for it. I did not want to be harsh and give only 2 stars so I gave 3 since half stars aren't an option. I will continue to go to the bakery to support becuase they really do have some delicious items in their bakery but I don't think I'll be back to eat here unfortunately.

If you're in Kingston and looking for a great breakfast spot, I highly recommend Toast & Jam. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be good - the smell of fresh baked goods wafting through the air was irresistible. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with plenty of seating in a spacious and airy dining area. I visited Toast & Jam on a weekday during a business trip, and was surprised to see the restaurant packed with customers even at 2 PM. Despite the crowd, the service was excellent - the servers were friendly and accommodating, happy to chat and offer recommendations from the extensive menu. I opted for the French toast and coffee, and it was nothing short of delicious. The French toast itself was very unique - it had a cake-like texture and was topped with syrup and whipped cream. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and left me feeling completely satisfied. While I can't speak to every item on the menu, I can say that everything I saw looked absolutely mouth-watering. I definitely plan on returning to Toast & Jam to try more of their offerings. Another great thing about Toast & Jam is the plentiful parking available right up front. And if you're in the mood for some baked goods to go, they have a dedicated section on the side of the restaurant where you can pick up treats to enjoy later. All in all, I highly recommend Toast & Jam for a delicious breakfast or brunch experience. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is top-notch. Don't miss out on this Kingston gem - I know I'll be back!

You can not go wrong with anything on the menu, everything is exquisite! From freshly squeezed house juices and lemonade, to the perfect mimosas, to the warm chai tea. There is so much good going on my friend couldn't choose, she ordered the pancakes and the mac and cheese and ate like a Queen. They are very accommodating, adding chocolate chips and blueberries to her pancakes, serving me tomatoe slices instead of roasted potatoes, packing up a little of the housemade ketchup to take home with our to go food. (You didn't think she managed to eat TWO entrees, did ya?) The environment is also a blessing, while it is guaranteed to be brimming with customers, it still retains that rustic quality that brings me home to my nanny's kitchen table. A must try for those exploring all the restaurants Kingston has to offer. You will have no regrets, did I mentioned the ginger snaps with the bill? So much better than just getting a mint. The only possible downside is the lack of reservations, but they have a very pleasant waiting area and are very knowledgeable about how long it will take.

this is easily my favourite place to go for breakfast in Kingston. I have been multiple times now and anytime that someone asked to go for brunch or breakfast with me whether it’s family or friends in the area I have always asked to go here. The staff are always so so so friendly and it’s local. They have a bakery right next-door that all of their pastries and baked goods are taken directly from, so if you’re craving the croissants after eating one in the café you can go buy a bunch of them next-door. Ridiculously tasty and super cute. Not too expensive which I can appreciate. Really good coffee and always nice to support local small places in Kingston. Will continue to go here over and over and over again. have officially made a tradition that every time my mom comes up to visit me in Kingston we always go here.

in short it was very bad and ruined the mood, which is surprising based on the number of reviews. We ordered a cherizo sandwich and potatoes, my fiancée ordered a salmon toast with eggs and potatoes. My sandwich was simply so oily that I simply couldn’t wash my hands, and the portion of potatoes was very small. I also ordered tea, they brought a teapot with one Lipton bag. It was just boiling water; there was no taste of tea at all. My fiancée took this toast where the eggs were completely cooked, to what we pointed and asked to fix the dish and make the eggs with a runny yolk. They simply brought new eggs. Why you can’t take the dish back and remake it, is not clear. In the end about the atmosphere, you just sit in the middle of hall, it’s very uncomfortable and not cozy. Also it was my worst 60$ spending.

Toast & Jam is hands down one of the best brunch spots in Kingston! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and the smell of fresh, delicious food. Their menu is creative and full of tasty options, from classic breakfast dishes to more unique offerings that satisfy any craving. The food is always fresh and perfectly prepared, whether you’re in the mood for their fluffy pancakes, perfectly poached eggs, or a hearty sandwich. Their homemade jams and baked goods are to die for, adding that extra special touch to every meal. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. If you’re in Kingston and looking for a place that serves quality food in a relaxed setting, Toast & Jam is a must-visit. You’ll leave happy and full every time!
