Wendy's — Restaurant in Ontario

Three years ago: Reported that this restaurant was satisfactory. Today, it is highly satisfactory. Two years ago (Edited): After writing a review to Wendy's direct, I decided to go and accept the free burger. Unfortunately, there's only a free burger if you buy another burger. That's it. No burger and a side salad (for example). Thus, my anticipation for a large salad, etc. became two unwanted burgers ... after the effort of writing a review. Therefore, an unhappy customer, loses two stars. Most recent: Of course, Covid ruined any chance of sitting in a restaurant, and caused all businesses to have staff problems -- but this place has always had a staff problem, for example, my visit was triggered by coupons in my postbox. I could choose the NEW small seasoned potatoes and the NEW small Frosty-ccino with my large chicken salad. The grim 'Order-taker', without a smile, said, 'Those [NEW potatoes] are for Breakfast' (It was just afternoon), the small Frosty-ccino received a stiff "Don't have that !" Thus, I chose a regular Strawberry Frosty. "No Strawberry" said Mr. Grim ... I chose Vanilla (To be safe). While waiting, I enquired if Frosty-ccino was missing at all 'Wendy's', sour-faced Mr.Grim (Who has been employed there far too long) just said 'Don't know', and retired inside muttering excuses to the other staff. I had a great experience at the Hyde Park Wendy’s! I want to specifically recognize two outstanding employees.

Umesha, who made my sandwich, did an excellent job—it was delicious and well-prepared. The care and precision in making it were noticeable, and I truly appreciated it. While the chili was a bit watery, the overall meal was on point.

Jessica, the order taker, was fantastic. She was incredibly friendly and personable, and her warm smile lit up the room. Her positive energy created such a welcoming atmosphere—not a single dissatisfied customer within five city blocks!

I was there with my daughter, and we both had a wonderful experience. The service and food quality made for a great visit. I’d recommend this Wendy’s location to anyone, for any occasion!

I also want to acknowledge the entire team. I didn’t see a single idle worker on the floor—everyone appeared to be working hard while still maintaining top-notch customer service. This was proven by the steady flow of customers I saw coming through while I was filling out this survey. It’s clear that this location values efficiency and hospitality.

This Wendys has, for years, been our fave go-to for fast food but our most recent visit certainly messed up the shiny lustre. Not sure why but I hope there's a positive change happening. We did a drive through recently and parked in the parking lot, 30 sec. from the 'window'. There's a list of issues:

1. all food was poor. Burgs were dry and barely warm as were the fries and baked potato.
2. no knife to cut the baked potato, no straws, no napkins.
3. employees' uniforms are hugely filthy and have been for years. There seems to be no requirement or plan for laundering. As for the food, going back through the drive through was not an option at the time, with 4 cars in line and our schedule being tight. I hope this critique doesn't come across as petty. When we returned, yesterday morning for breaky...the facility was closed. The whole place had been gutted with only interior support walls remaining. Perhaps when it reopens, Wendys (corporate) will have come up with new uniforms. If they could/would enact a laundering rule, it would be a huge improvement.
