I have ordered from these guys for over a year at this point, but have always used skip the dishes to have them deliver. Today, however, was different. I was out and about doing my end of the month bills, and I decided to stop in for a quick lunch. Their food is really good... and I am a chinese food addict, I can't get enough of the stuff, so for me to say this, a place should really take that as a compliment...
The Service today, however, was leaving much to be desired. I took the bus from the downtown district and walked a few blocks to get to their location. I arrived at 10:55 am, it took a while to find the entrance, since the one visible door is being blocked by a table. I walked around to see their open sign lit up, and once I finally found the door (which is big and brown, and honestly I thought it belonged to their neighbor), I went on in. The woman at the counter looked like she was going to have a heart attack. She said they weren't open yet. I said oh okay, am I able to stand in between the double doors, because its freezing outside. She said yes. Next thing I know this big guy comes out, tells me, you go, wait outside. That rubbed me the wrong way since I specifically asked can I wait in between the double doors and was told YES.
Okay, so I wait outside, its now 11, google says they just opened. I decide to give them 2-3 extra minutes since I disturbed them a few minutes early. Went inside, the guy sighs, turns to me and says, takeout only, cash only, no debit. Which to me is the breaking point. I turned around and left. I came for a peaceful meal, I left feeling angry. I want to stress again, their food is very very good. But I would rather go to the Mandarin (a place that will seat you 5 minutes early, treats you like your a welcomed customer, and you don't have to jump through hoops to pay them). It is a shame, I love chinese food, but when you have a sitting area that you won't use. Make your customer sit out in negative 10 degree weather. Don't have a working debit machine. I would rather go to the competition. I feel like I really wasted my time today bussing from the downtown district, I could have gone the other way and headed to a buffet. I chose a small mom and pop shop that I thought would want my business.
I will continue to order their food, but I will stick to skip the dishes, because I would rather deal with a delivery guy that can't find my address, then sit in a restaurant and have to deal with what I went through today. I won't be...
Read moreI called and asked if they had the real chicken balls.
The lady said what other chicken balls are there ?
I said some places well use breaded chicken to make sweet-and-sour chicken ball, general chicken and orange chicken lemon chicken.
The lady said wow no we have the real Chinese Chicken balls.
Drove 25 mins and went there. Order the chicken balls left went to a barbeque Asian joint next-door. That was actually really nasty so I came back and ordered the orange chicken egg noodles and two eggrolls. Altogether I spent about. $52.
Drove back about 25-35 mins opened up the container and got this (pic 1 and 2)
Now remind you when I went in there the first time I asked what are these menus about and she said oh this is authentic Chinese food. And if you know anything about Chinese food, it was created to satisfy north and South America. This is not the food that they’re eating in China.
So I called the lady and I said to her your orange chicken isn’t like breaded chicken kind of crispy and you put the sauce on she was like that’s how we make ours so I was like OK that’s fine.
I asked her are you aware that the entire continuous filled with broccoli and there’s only .4 ounces of chicken on the top? . All of a sudden the lady hung up on me.
So then I was like OK. I called back and I was like hello. Did something happen to the phone or could you hold on? I’m talking to somebody on the other line so I held on she came back and I was like I’m not really like impressed you told me that this is enough authentic Chinese food restaurant so only half of your dishes are authentic and the other half isn’t Orange chicken has always has orange chicken General has always been lemon Chicken has always been lemon chicken so I was explaining to her like the portion size is less than what the mall will give you.
The lady put the phone down and left it there about 2 to 4 minutes later she comes back. She’s like hello and I was like hello. I’m just gonna bring the food back to you or like I live 30 minutes away, but I’m gonna bring the food back to you And then she was like no you don’t have to do that but I’m the one that served your food. I know that this is what we do that’s fine if this is what you do but nobody’s paying $15 plus tax for a container of broccoli if that was the case, you should sell the broccoli with shenzhen sauce.
I was insisting that I would just bring it back and finally she was just like I’ll give you a...
Read moreBe warned! My latest and LAST experience with the takeout fare from this establishment has prompted me to write this. I am 64 years old and this is only the second time that I have been compelled to submit a review (the other was a five star for service from a different type of business); unfortunately, I am worried that the consumption of such poor fare could result in serious food poisoning. This is the third consecutive bad experience that I have had with this restaurant's takeout service (I believe in giving another chance and they are located in a convenient spot for me as I use a wheelchair and do not drive.). This last ($55.00) takeout was completely inedible - "lemon chicken" that consisted of popcorn nuggets that were obviously left over from the previously day and reheated to the consistency of dry, battered rocks with a lemon sauce on the side, angel hair pasta In the noodle dish was overcooked/reheated leftovers that crunched if eaten & the vegetables/shrimp/beef topping had a skunky (old) taste and the honey-garlic wings amounted to 10 pieces of wing "tips" (the meatless portion of the wing) only that were dried out, smelled bad and tasted like rotting fish! Past complaints have been ignored with useless platitudes (promised credits were never honored. I sincerely hope that my experience with this restaurant is an exception to their standard takeout practices; however, I can't afford to take any more chances - as far as I am concerned, the "lights should go out" on this...
