EDIT: I came back here on a Friday around 1PM and i've changed my opinion. It definitely wasn't as busy as a Saturday morning, but service remained a bit sluggish still. Despite that, the individual taking my order was extremely friendly and guided me towards their lemonade coldbrew special - which she suggested a sample can be given to me.
I enjoyed that fun coldbrew and the chocolatine was definitely chocolatey albeit soft.
In the end - it's a nice spot, and worth a visit on a less busy day
I've heard good things about this place, notably their chocolatine with 3 bars of chocolate - hard to come by.
I happened to find myself in the area on a mid-Saturday morning. The place was evidently buzzing.
Unfortunately, it seems like there is only one staff preparing beverages and takes a very long time. The line probably moved around 4 people in the span of 20 or so minutes. On top of that, they do like to chat and kick tires instead of focusing on moving the line along. I even heard one of the staff express "or we're managing just fine" or something along those lines. If one customer every 5 minutes is "fine" then yikes.
So if you like to spend your entire morning grabbing coffee, splendid recommendation from me. People tell me it's less busy on the weekday but i'm not sure if I'll ever want to try again after a bit of a sour taste in my...
Read moreI love A5 and that’s why I decided to finally write this review after experiencing reduced quality in the service and drinks multiple times. I don’t live close to center town so I don’t visit often but whenever I’m in the neighborhood on the weekends A5 is my go-to place for coffee. Over the past couple of months however, my experience of the coffee has been disappointing unfortunately. My experiences varied at different times: too cold coffee, not much taste of coffee, getting served the wrong drink (latte instead of americano misto; or that’s how I describe it because there was too much milk in my drink), etc.
I’m not sure why this has happened but I’m thinking it may be because weekends are too busy and baristas are overwhelmed; they have to serve so many drinks quickly. I’d personally be ok to wait longer but have a high-quality drink in my cup if that’s what it takes. It’s sad to see the quality taking an impact because of it to be honest. It saddens me to say but it’s made me not want to go there next time I’m around center town after having more than a few bad...
Read moreWe are Visiting from out of town, I had high expectations for this café from the glowing reviews and it didn’t disappoint. From the moment I walked in, the staff’s warmth and genuine curiosity about my trip to Ottawa made me feel instantly at home. They even went above and beyond, recommending several fantastic local spots to check out.
The café itself is a hub of community and creativity, with walls adorned in posters for local events, displays of artists’ work, and activist messages; a very welcoming and progressive e atmosphere that feels like a safe space for everyone.
The coffee was Outstanding. My flat white was perfectly made, and I couldn’t resist coming back the next day (this time for a latte) —something I rarely do on vacation, as I usually like to explore different spots. Both drinks were smooth, rich, and delicious.
Although I didn’t try the pastries or food, they looked incredibly tempting. Every neighborhood deserves a coffee shop like thi. a place that’s not just about great coffee, but about community, art,...
