Great wood burning pizza place, I may come back one day. I will start by saying that I am a huge pizza guy and can eat pizza everyday. Everyone knows me as the pizza addict. Check out my other reviews of pizza places in Ottawa and the US. The pizzas I ordered were the Jalapeno Popper pizza (marinated jalapenos, panko, goat cheese) and I added thick cut bacon, the Frank's Deluxe pizza (sausage, cheese, green peppers, marinated mushrooms) the bank pizza (marinated mushroom, Alfredo pizza, cheese, truffle oil) and the Gladstone pizza (pepperoni). They have very unique pizza toppings including goat cheese, marinated mushrooms and more. The crust is delicious. It's airy and chewy. Well done with the dough recipe Pizza Nerd Owner. Most of the stars in my rating are from the dough recipe. The sauce on the pizza is nothing interesting to mention, just plain tomato sauce, but makes sense so you can get the flavor of all the other toppings. The toppings are fresh and tasty except for the pepperoni which was border line bad and should not have been served (this is why they lost the 5th star). As for the green pepper, I did not even know my pizza was supposed to have green pepper until I started writing this. Maybe they forgot to add it? The bacon, sausage, mushrooms and goat cheese were excellent. The cheese options very are decent, but since they use high quality cheese they aren't very generous with the amount of cheese per pizza. I also ordered the chili oil and the Chipotle garlic chili dip. The oil was nothing special and not worth my $2. The garlic dip was really good and I recommend you all try it at least once. The service was standard. Overall, it's a decent wood burning pizza place. It's expensive but within reason. The parking situation is not the best. The service was quick, as I was in and out within an hour for 4 pizza dine in experience.

First Impression: Pizza nerds is a hip spot located on bank street. They have relaxed ambience which is perfect for a night out with friends/family or a casual date. The servers are very kind and knowledgeable about gluten allergies. Their menu has a wide selection of unique pizzas. All pizzas can be made on gluten free. I ended up trying the Arlignton donair pizza (Local cheese with fresh tomato and onion, sliced beef (donair) and donair sauce) and the queen Elizabeth (Basil, tomato, local and goat cheese, and spicy honey). Both tasted delicious, unique and were topped with high quality ingredients. Favorite/s: I personally really enjoyed the Queen Elizabeth. It was full of flavor, had the right amount of sauce and the cheese combination went very well together. The spicy honey was not over barring and had just a tiny hint of sweetness. In addition, although the dough was made from cauliflower it tasted like authentic pizza crust which is hard to find! Critique/s: They do not have any gluten free desserts on the menu! Bonus: If you love hot sauce like me, they make their own in-house chili garlic dip which is delicious! Take away: If you’re gluten free and love pizza then this spot is a must try! I know I will defiantly be returning to try some more of their unique/progressive options. 😊

We ordered White sauce and Mushroom pizza Donair pizza X3 local beers X1 spicy side garlic sauce X1 donair side dipping sauce X1 chili oil We paid about $75. Pricing is quite fair for the size of pizza you get. I love that it's thin enough go finish a whole pizza without feeling like you've gone into a food coma! The flavors of both pizza's were great!! The garlic dipping sauce...not so great. Was expecting a more creamy authentic garlic sauce. The donair sauce had a subtle sweet flavor- well enjoyed with my Mushroom pizza. The local beer - a hit heavy from what I'm used to but taste was great and quite light. The vibe inside is nice but truthfully not what I was hoping for based on how great the food was. It's basic and simple so nothing to complain about just not what I was expecting - hence the 4 star not 5. Not many non-pork options if you care. I do wish there was chicken because the Mushroom pizza with chicken would have been BOMB! Will be back to try other options soon enough! Ps - destroyed the photo...don't think it's appearing properly. Sorry!

TL;DR, there's good reason they appear everywhere as best pizza in Ottawa.

Pizza Nerds has been on my agenda for a while and let me tell you what, it did not disappoint. The staff are tremendously friendly to start. The restaurant is beautifully clean, spacious, and top quality indie tunes in the background. Now let's get to the food.

Their selection is outstanding. Some really unique specialities, but lots of variety, which is great for people with dietary restrictions. Another nice note on the variety, I opted for the "Mystery beer" option on the menu, which is a really cool little thing on the menu.

Now, onto the pizza!

The dough is really excellent. It's a fantastic balance of a bit of chew, and some crunch. The sauce is really classically Italian, very traditional. That's a big plus because there's some places around that are a bit on the sweet side but this is just big punchy tomato. Toppings, hot damn. We did the two ends of the scale. A plane jane cheese and the goat cheese with mystery spicy honey drizzle. Both were nothing short of an unbridled triumph.

So here's a big plus for this place that people sometimes overlook. Let's talk about integrity.

How many pizza places have you been too where two bites in your toppings slide off? Well not here. There's some sort of recipe glue going on!! The structural integrity of each slice is second to none. That's really rare but when you get into your pizza, a huge plus. Top job on that ninja skill!!

Overall, this place is outstanding. Amazing pizza, lovely staff, great atmosphere, super reasonable price, magnificent pizza structural...

Hello my fellow minorities of Ottawa - do not eat here.

Here is my honest review:

I visited Pizza Nerds today because it came highly recommended to me by some coworkers. However, I left feeling deeply disappointed and hurt by the discrimination I encountered during my visit.

From the moment that I entered the restaurant, I noticed a distinct difference in treatment. The staff ( one girl ) seemed disinterested and was less attentive to our needs compared to other customers.

I sat down and scanned my phone to find the menu. We were sitting for 10 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. We decided to try ordering directly on the website and were having trouble. I called over the waitress to help and she told us that she could take our order instead. It took us waiting 15 minutes and asking for help for someone to offer to take our order.

With the other customers, she was walking around and taking their orders and having conversations after they sat down. That left a sour taste in my mouth.

After receiving our food and enjoying the meal - the service sucks but the pizza is decent, it was hard to get her attention for the bill. She was at the table next to us laughing with the customers but ignored us completely. We tried to get the bill for the pizza for close to 10 minutes.

It took the nice man wiping down the tables to finally notice us and let us pay for our meal.

I complained to some friends afterwards and they agreed that they've all felt unwelcome here. Never again.

The food is good but the atmosphere SUCKS. It is not worth paying...
