The Aulde Dubliner & Pour House is a must-visit whenever I’m in Ottawa, and it’s easy to see why this Irish pub has become a beloved staple in the city. Nestled in the heart of the historic ByWard Market, its charm starts the moment you approach the building. The beautifully crafted woodwork and gold-leaf accents, paired with its inviting patios and mezzanine balcony, make it one of the most picturesque spots in the area. Inside, the pub continues to impress with its authentic Irish décor—tables, chairs, and intricate details all imported from Ireland, lending the space a warm and cozy atmosphere. The staff here are friendly and efficient, making the experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The menu offers a solid variety of dishes at reasonable prices, but for me, the highlight is their fish and chips. Perfectly golden and crispy, they rival even the best I’ve had in the Maritimes. It’s clear that this dish is prepared with care and attention to detail, making it a standout in a sea of pub fare. Whether you’re looking for a hearty meal, a pint with a view of the Market, or a spot to soak in the lively atmosphere, the Aulde Dubliner delivers. It’s a place I’ll continue to return to every time I’m in the city.

We came here for lunch and sat outside which was lovely. The location is great in the middle of vibrant Byward market, if you sit outside or on the second floor balcony you can watch the vibe. We were seated fast considering the place was crowded, service was satisfactory, waiters were friendly, helpful and smiling. . Food presentation, quantity and price were good. Minimum tip is 18%, Taxes are 13% Ordered Chicken wings with buffalo sauce, they were really good, crispy, not chewy and not oily, one of the best i had in ottawa. The fish and chips breading was crispy, not too thick and not too oily, the fish was moist and tasty; comes with a nice homemade tartar sauce and a coleslaw (the coleslaw is not really good, tastes like just shredded cabbage), the fries were great, yellow, not oily, and big. Also had the swiss mushroom cheese burger, and it was really delicious, the best i have had so far in several Canadian cities. No parking, you have to find a street spot or use the rideau mall paid parking. A recommended pub/restaurant to visit 👌🏼

Overdue review I was here for dinner with my family during the Civic Long Weekend in 2018. Aside from being a beautiful looking building, the restaurant is pretty great too! With this restaurant being in the Byward Market area, it seems to be always busy, but we didn't encounter any negative service or have any issues with our visit. The food is what you'd come to expect from pub food weather that be an English or Irish pub. There was nothing wrong with the food per say, it just wasn't great. On the other hand, the service we received was top notch. I can't remember the name of our waitress unfortunately but she was excellent. Service was prompt and polite. She was great with my kids. The food came out in great time for being such a busy restaurant. Cheers! When visiting Ottawa, I would recommend dining here or even just coming by for drinks. Thanks!

Me and my girlfriend were hungry and looking for a place to eat, when we were attracted by this nice outside patio full of flowers. Unfortunately all the tables there were taken, so they made us sit inside. We ordered a salmon and a salmon sandwich, both were fine but nothing special (as a matter of fact the sandwich was quite small and left me with hunger). What really disappointed me was the fact that I ordered a 1/2 pint of beer, the waitress clearly understood that but took me a full pint. When I got the bill I had to pay for the full pint, so I reported that to the waitress who told me that since I drank my beer I had to pay for that. Maybe she was right in saying that I had to let her know immediately, but I don't think that's the right way to treat a customer when the fault was on her side. All in all I think there are better places to eat in Ottawa.

Visited Ottawa for Family Day long weekend and we dropped by here for brunch whilst walking on the streets of Byward Market. The service was good and the drinks were good too. But the food I felt was too salty and my tummy started aching after. Lots of families were there enjoying the day off, I’m not sure about the parking, I’d suggest taking the bus there. The streets have a lot of choices in terms of food. We chose this place because we wanted a drink with our food. May be it was just that one dish that had a pinch too many of salt and I do however like lower level of salt in my food. I really liked the seating and the way this place has been designed but just that salty taste kind of has me thinking if I would or not go back. Hopefully, my issue is not the same as for others.

If you are in no rush, come to this place, the service is slooooooooooooow. We waited 20 minutes for a menu and another 20 minutes for our drinks sitting upstairs on the balcony. The place was not too busy which surprised me on how slow the service was. The food was not worth the money, ($136.01 included 2 drinks ) we had the seafood chowder ($21) which was salty and lacking the actual seafood and curried mussels ($18)which were average. The main course consisted of Lamb shank ($38) which was not bad, but the curry chicken ($23) was terrible with large pieces of almost raw onions and red pepper - I couldn't eat it. Total time for lunch was 2 hours. With the good review on this place we thought we would have enjoyed our lunch, but this review is reality.
