Peking Duck is a restaurant called themselves specize in Peking Duck, an ancient chinese special meat set. We got scammed by this restaurant. Our family of Five adults wanted to order a Peking Duck set meal for $88.00. It came with only 24 little rice wrapping sheets and little pieces of onion and sweet oyster sauce. Then the server upsold us to a larger Peking Duck set meal for $108.00. She told us the duck was bigger and more meaty and no change to the number of rice wrapping paper, onion and dipping sauce. We agreed to pay more for the larger duck. Again, the Waitress tried to upsell and wanted to charge us another $15.00 to have the duck bone fried with salt and black pepper. We declined the offer and went with the soup for no charge.
However, we were extremely disappointed when when our foods came out. The fried rice, the noodle, vegetable, meat dumpling didn't have much ingredients in it and the taste very plain. Furthermore, when the Peking Duck set meal came out, we were upset about it but kept it to ourselves and said " We are on Vacation, no need to get upset and just let it be " The chef didn't skin the duck in front of us. There was hardly any meat came out from the duck. It was a small plate of skin has little meat attached to it. We expected them to bring out a big bowl of soup has the duck bone with meat in it but instead, they brought to us five individual cups of broth has little Napa vegetable pieces in it. We asked the server what happened to the bone? They said " Oh that's how we cook the soup"
We felt stupid to let this restaurant fooled us and paid so much money $108.00 for some duck skin and was not enough for five adults. The flavour was no different than any other ducks that we paid $30 for a whole duck at other Asian BBQ places or restaurants. Now I thought about it, we shouldn't let them get away with scamming us. We should have spoken up and demanded for the whole duck that we paid for $108.00 but we were too nice.
This restaurant is located in the heart of Ottawa. It is small and old, not very comfortable as advertised by them. Service was not at the scale of the price they charge. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND NOT WORTH THE MONEY THAT PEOPLE PAY. THERE IS A CHINATOWN HAS MANY DIFFERENT RESTAURANTS. IT'S MORE AFFORDABLE AND GOOD FOODS. ONLY APPROX 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM PEKING DUCK...

Finally we have an authentic Peking Duck restaurant in the city! I’m originally from Beijing so this is one of my fondest memories of home.
There is currently no option to make online booking, so you’ll have to call the restaurant to make a reservation, and you’ll receive a text message confirming your reservation. On the day of reservation another text message was sent asking to confirm attendance.
The restaurant is located in the legendary Byward Market. Interior decoration is also beautiful, yet modern enough to reflect the current trends.
The duck was nicely roasted, it is recommended to order the duck ahead of time to avoid disappointment. We ordered the duck at the time of reservation. The duck was meticulously sliced right in front of dining guests, by a chef that I assume come from Beijing.
What came up slightly subpar was the food. The duck was slightly under toasted, but the meat was not as juicy as I would have liked, but the wrappings were made with perfection, so thin but can still hold all ingredients. My kids LOVED and devoured the duck!
The cold dishes were average, there were 2 items we wanted to order but were out of stock. The hot dishes were disappointing, the stir fried lamb and scallion did not taste fresh, lamb sliced were too thick and not juicy enough; the “squirrel fish” was over fried and gravy too sweet that it lacked a bit of balance with the sour taste; and the 红楼茄鲞 was nothing but fried eggplants with some sugared fruits, but it was the most tasty dish among the 3 that we ordered. We were also given a free bowl of noodles with a fried egg as a nice gesture for celebrating my husband’s birthday. The noodles and egg were delicious!
Price was also on the high end, our total bill was $385 after taxes and gratuities, for an APEC duck, 3 cold dishes 3 hot dishes, 2 soft drinks and a pot of tea. Even a tiny dish of sliced cucumber for the duck was $1.25. Definitely not your everyday dining option. BTW, the lowest tipping option was 18%, tip-flation for sure!
Staff was very friendly but some of them obviously need more training.
All in all, this is a good special occasion restaurant that will likely improve tremendously with time. I look forward to dining here again, and trying...

I went with my partner for a date and I’ve been dying to have some good Chinese food and most of all, Peking duck in the capital. We certainly did order more food than we should have but absolutely no regrets.
Their duck is perfectly done. I ordered their whole Peking duck, fried rice, fried XO rice noodles, snow pea tips, their gizzard dish (I think) and the shredded eel in hot oil. I can’t mail down which fish I love because I loved all of them and my partner approved also. He’s much more pickier with me with texture and he says everything was perfectly done. Especially the eel.
I highly recommend if you’re coming to impress your partner, your in laws, or even just a occasion that you want a dash of culture and umph. Their fried rice had the wok flavour (for those well versed in Cantonese style food).
Only thing I would have done….is reserve for an earlier time lol I reserved for 6:30 and I wanted to eat the whole menu lol and also try their desserts lol I didn’t order and by the time I was ready for it, I couldn’t even think of eating more lol
My heart is definitely content to have a high class Chinese restaurant serving authentic dishes! Definitely coming back for the caviar premium set!!! Thank you for the...
