A Taste of Persia Right in the Heart of the City – Cafe Tehran Delivers an Authentic Culinary Experience
If you're looking for an unforgettable Persian dining experience, look no further than Cafe Tehran. This hidden gem offers an incredible variety of traditional Persian dishes that are not only flavorful but also crafted with authenticity and care.
From the moment you step in, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that blends traditional Persian elements with modern comfort. The menu is a true celebration of Persian cuisine – rich in variety, flavor, and heritage.
One dish that truly stands out is their Koobideh Kebab – hands down one of the best I've had. Perfectly seasoned, grilled to perfection, and served with aromatic saffron basmati rice and grilled tomatoes, it's a must-try for both first-time visitors and regulars. The meat is tender, juicy, and packed with authentic Persian flavors that instantly transport you to Tehran.
To complement your meal, don’t miss their Doogh, a traditional yogurt-based drink. It’s served cold and lightly seasoned with mint – the perfect refreshing contrast to the warm spices in the kebabs and stews.
But the magic doesn’t stop there. Their Fesenjan (a pomegranate and walnut stew), Ghormeh Sabzi (herb stew with kidney beans and beef), and Tahchin (a saffron rice cake with chicken) are also absolutely delicious and show the depth and variety of Persian cuisine.
The portion sizes are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly and attentive. Whether you’re Persian and craving a taste of home, or someone curious to explore the richness of Iranian food culture, Cafe Tehran delivers every time.
Highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates authentic flavors, quality ingredients, and a genuinely welcoming dining experience. Will definitely be coming back!

Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Tehran with a party of 10, and I must say, our experience was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with superb service and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
As someone who was a bit apprehensive about taking my non-Iranian friends to a place we hadn't tried before, I can confidently say that this restaurant exceeded all expectations. The food was both authentic and beautifully presented, leaving everyone in our group delighted with their choices.
While there were a few minor hiccups, the staff were incredibly open to receiving our feedback and made us feel valued as customers. Their professionalism and friendliness were truly commendable, and the restaurant itself is conveniently located in a wonderful area.
Now, let's talk about the food! We indulged in a variety of delicious dishes at Cafe Tehran From the lamb shank and vaziri, to the sultani and akbar joojeh, every bite exceeded my expectations. The chenjeh, kashk bademjan, zeytoon parvarde, barley soup, and torshi bademjan were also outstanding. I highly recommend trying their food - you won't be disappointed!
One thing that really stood out to me was their exceptional accommodation of dietary restrictions. They were incredibly understanding and willing to make adaptations, so make sure to inform them of any special dietary needs you may have.
Overall, my experience was truly memorable and I can't wait to go back for more. This place is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for fantastic food and a...
Read moreWe were a family of 8 on a Sunday lunch and we all enjoyed the foods a lot. We ordered almost most of main dishes so I can say with confidence that they are all cooked and presented well done. I found the lamb shank kind of more outstanding among the rest especially was the largest and yummiest lamb shank comparing to other Persian and Afghan restaurents in Ottawa.
The waitress lady ws very friendly. Service and speed was of satisfaction. We had the chance of meeting the manager and owner lady as well and she was also super friendly.
The amount of food (rice and kebob size) was above average comparing to some other persian similar dishes. I try to upload our photos if the app let me.
I would like to congratulate to the owners and wishing them the best. I was in buisiness before and I know is extremely difficult to run a new large restaurent especialy in smaller ethnic communities like Persians with much expectations and competitions. ALSO it is for sure more expensive in downtown Ottawa the cost of their parking lot and the lease of the large restaurent space itself so it is difficult to keep prices as low especially in current inflation of 2023
While I gave 5 star to everything today, but it was a pity the famous fessenjoon stew is not available in the menu. Also today shishlik was finished perhaps as we arrived late for lunch and was a Sunday.
I definitely recommend the mix safron icecream and faloodeh noodles for dessert. Noteworthy that the owner was kind enough to count and serve the tea to work it out for lowest charge to...
