Edit: finally was able to try indoor dining. The tables and grills are way better than their patio set up and service was amazing. Definitely deserves 5 stars! — The food here is so good it makes up for the rest of the aspects that were lacking. I had dinner here with a group of 6 a couple of weeks ago. I made a reservation for the patio since they weren’t taking walk-ins and indoor dining wasn’t allowed yet. They still sat us about 15 minutes late which was fine as we didn’t mind waiting. When our table finally freed up, I watched the person who was bussing the table and they didn’t wipe the seats or any part of the portable grills. They did change the top of the grill (where you actually place your food) which is the important part. They also changed it every so often throughout because they tend to burn and char quickly. The grills were pretty bad and obviously not high quality. They did the job but it seemed like such a fire hazard. The flames would get so strong and high suddenly, it’s a wonder my hair never caught on fire. The tables on the patio are also just cheap foldable tables that were way too small. Service was okay. Our server did their best to explain how to order and made recommendations but was rushing everything. Same with the other servers but they did well considering that it was quite busy. I’m still giving 5 stars because I enjoyed the food and they did their best to make a patio to adhere to COVID guidelines. However, I don’t think the experience I had on the patio was worth the price (almost $50 with a drink, tax, and large group service charge). I will probably only come back for indoor dining and hopefully it is better than their patio setup.

If I could give 6/5 stars I would 🤩 excellent quality of food, amazing service, and overall great time. I went on Thursday at 4pm (it wasn't very busy but I know it gets busy at night especially on weekends). I recommend you use the waitlist on Yelp so you can get a seat at the time you want to eat! They honour it. I did the waitlist but there was only a group of 2 before us waiting in the waiting room so we just waited. This was my first time trying Japanese BBQ, but I've had Korean BBQ before, and it's literally the same thing just the grill is in the table. The dinner menu price per adult is "expensive" but if you want the best experience, go for dinner. They recommend first timers to get all the beef options and see what they like. I recommend the same and get anything that peaks your interest. You might have to flag the waiters/waitresses to order food again, but it's not difficult and they are all very friendly. I regret not getting the names of all the employees who helped us, but they were all excellent and explained the menu well. One guy even took our dirty napkins without us asking and replaced them with new ones...my friend and I were in awe. 10/10 service :) The bibimbap is a good portion not to get full on, and the miso soup was really nice after eating all the meat to cleanse my throat and soul hehe. If I could go back and order more creme brûlée I would. Sadly, the Melona bars are limited 1/person and with good reason...they're delicious. I was tempted to go buy some at a Korean mart. Anyway, I'll definitely be going back!!! Pleaseee go here and tip well! Also be careful not to reach over the grill cause you know...fire is hot 😆

One of my favourite ayce restaurants in Ottawa! Located downtown and not too far from the highway exit. Parking on streets can sometimes be hard to find a close one but there is enough parking lots in the area that it shouldn't be a problem. Inside the restaurant is a cozy and comfortable atmosphere which I really did like. Keep in mind if your going on the weekends it can be crazy busy, like 1 to 4 hour wait. They only do resverations for 6 people and up. If you go early when they open it's not bad with wait times at all depending on the seasons. For dinner is 2 hours and lunch is 1 hour and 45 minutes. Should be more than enough time to eat as much as you want. My only complaint would be for 5 people one grill is not enough as the grills are pretty small. For a party of 6 or more you will get 2 grills. The food here is absolutely amazing!!! Everything I ordered I really enjoyed. The vegetables were fresh and my favourite dishes were probably the beef and pork dishes. There is enough variety for everyone to try. I would suggest order one of everything and you will find yourself a favourite soon enough. The service was amazing also. I've never had a bad time here, all the servers were always friendly, hospitable and made sure you were happy. Service times are quick. I have been going here for a long time and a repeat visitor, I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Came on opening day lunch. Quality food with good service. The marinades are good and the meat quality is great. I appreciate the Korean items on the menu including the bibimbap, cold noodles and banchan. It's a nice change of pace between all the meat. Some of our food took a long time to arrive (opening day during lunch) but the servers were very nice about it. EDIT: dropped the rating to 4 stars. Came back for dinner on a Thursday night at 5pm. The quoted wait time was 2.5 hours, ended up being seated 3 hours later. I strongly recommend the Ottawa location to implement the Yelp waitlist system or have an automated phone number notification system. Food quality is still great, and our server Ken was very friendly. BUT once again it was a battle to get our order. We almost never got the amount we ordered which is silly since it's honestly just more work for the staff. For example, ordering the large plate of 50 pieces, usually came as a small plate of 15 pieces. It became frustrating after a while. We told our server we were frequent visitors to their GTA locations and had already tried their Ottawa location before so he should've understood that we are fully aware of what we were ordering.

Fantastic food and great service (hint: Join the Yelp waitlist to guarantee a seat, as the queue are always 1-2 hours in advance on waitlist during peak dining hours, 3-4pm is the quieter hours if you want to try your luck). If you are a meat lover/keto dieter, you are going to love this place. Great selection of the variety of meats and cuts for dinner option (you can choose dinner option during lunch as well for only $10 CAD/$7 USD extra) Service is 10/10, our waitress is very attentive, ordered food we liked and changed burnt grill as often as needed despite the restaurant being really busy. Our absolute fav is the Black Pepper Kalbi, although pretty much every meat and seafood items we tried on the menu are fantastic! See my photos for reference. Recommend you to try everything on first order and then just get what you like second round and on. Desert items include a delicious crème brûlée and Melona ice cream. I have ate at a lot of AYCE bbq places in the US and Canada and Gyubee is definitely on the top 3 list! Not to mention the price is more than reasonable for both lunch and dinner. Highly recommended! Again, join the waitlist on the day of dining to guarantee a seat!!
