The lunch menu showcased an average all-you-can-eat Japanese barbeque restaurant, which felt like a Korean barbeque restaurant. The service was good and the meats were delicious. The sides that we tried were subpar and are mostly a holdover until the meat is finished cooking. The vegetable menu could easily be expanded since there wasn't much for options.
Order: Saturday Lunch Menu - Adult ($28.99 each) x2
Sweet Soy Marinated Short Rib & Sweet Soy Beef Brisket Great tasting marinated meat that is a must try Nice sweet soy marinade that isn't overpowering Pork Belly Thinly sliced pork belly which cooked incredibly quickly No seasoning other than the soy sauce and ssamjang on the table Shrimp Plain shrimp that isn't anything special Miso Soup Average miso soup, what you'd expect Umami Bean Sprout Average bean sprouts, which weren't to my taste Kimchi The kimchi was nice with a bit of spice Cold Tofu Cold tofu with soy sauce Cabbage Salad Best side option available that we tried Ssamjang Great for seasoning the other menu items, especially those that are unseasoned (about half the menu) Buttercorn Corn with butter Zucchini Thinly sliced plain zucchini without seasoning White mushroom Plain white button mushrooms without seasoning Melona (conconut) Coconut popsicle that was taken from a store bought box
Virgin Yuzu Honey Soda ($6.00 each) x1 Very refreshing during the summer heat, would order again
Atmosphere and Site: Asian atmosphere and décor, but it was lacking finesse Each table has a personal grill which can be controlled with the controls at the side of the table Quite busy with the entire restaurant being full The bench seating was uncomfortable There was a lack of windows in our seated area, so the lighting was somewhat dim The site is located in Byward market so there's plenty to see in the area
Service: We came in to each lunch at 2PM and all of the tables were already taken. For two people, the wait time was 10~ minutes but your mileage may vary since larger groups had longer wait times. The food we ordered came out incredibly quickly The staff checked our table frequently if we had more food orders, however there wasn't much focus on if we were...

The food here is so good it makes up for the rest of the aspects that were lacking. I had dinner here with a group of 6 a couple of weeks ago. I made a reservation for the patio since they weren’t taking walk-ins and indoor dining wasn’t allowed yet. They still sat us about 15 minutes late which was fine as we didn’t mind waiting.
When our table finally freed up, I watched the person who was bussing the table and they didn’t wipe the seats or any part of the portable grills. They did change the top of the grill (where you actually place your food) which is the important part. They also changed it every so often throughout because they tend to burn and char quickly.
The grills were pretty bad and obviously not high quality. They did the job but it seemed like such a fire hazard. The flames would get so strong and high suddenly, it’s a wonder my hair never caught on fire. The tables on the patio are also just cheap foldable tables that were way too small.
Service was okay. Our server did their best to explain how to order and made recommendations but was rushing everything. Same with the other servers but they did well considering that it was quite busy.
I’m still giving 5 stars because I enjoyed the food and they did their best to make a patio to adhere to COVID guidelines. However, I don’t think the experience I had on the patio was worth the price (almost $50 with a drink, tax, and large group service charge). I will probably only come back for indoor dining and hopefully it is better than their...
Read moreIf I could give 6/5 stars I would 🤩 excellent quality of food, amazing service, and overall great time.
I went on Thursday at 4pm (it wasn't very busy but I know it gets busy at night especially on weekends). I recommend you use the waitlist on Yelp so you can get a seat at the time you want to eat! They honour it. I did the waitlist but there was only a group of 2 before us waiting in the waiting room so we just waited.
This was my first time trying Japanese BBQ, but I've had Korean BBQ before, and it's literally the same thing just the grill is in the table. The dinner menu price per adult is "expensive" but if you want the best experience, go for dinner. They recommend first timers to get all the beef options and see what they like. I recommend the same and get anything that peaks your interest.
You might have to flag the waiters/waitresses to order food again, but it's not difficult and they are all very friendly. I regret not getting the names of all the employees who helped us, but they were all excellent and explained the menu well. One guy even took our dirty napkins without us asking and replaced them with new ones...my friend and I were in awe. 10/10 service :)
The bibimbap is a good portion not to get full on, and the miso soup was really nice after eating all the meat to cleanse my throat and soul hehe. If I could go back and order more creme brûlée I would. Sadly, the Melona bars are limited 1/person and with good reason...they're delicious. I was tempted to go buy some at a Korean mart.
Anyway, I'll definitely be going back!!! Pleaseee go here and tip well! Also be careful not to reach over the grill cause you...
