The keg It is one of my favourite restaurants to go to consistently great food I have been To the keg all across Ontario probably close to 500 times in the last 20 years I never have to even look at the menu. I always know what I want. Unfortunately, this is the worst keg experience I have encountered First off when you walk up to the door, they took all the patio furniture away, and the blinds are all closed and the lights are dim. You don’t even know if it’s open. We had a test the doors to see if it was open We Made a reservation with a booth seat for 5 PM When we got there at 5 PM, there was Hardly anyone in the restaurant The hostess said she didn’t know if she could get us a booth seat even though we reserved one. I looked around the restaurant and I could see 30 booth seats open. She called another lady over and they went over the seating arrangement for 2 to 3 minutes finally, I said just give us A seat somewhere The waitress was pleasant and attentive As for the food, here’s where it went downhill They brought us the appetizers and no plates to eat it with, Also, they never give enough time between the appetizer and the main course the time I finished the last bite of the appetizer another meal was there My son had the 10 ounce prime rib with garlic mashed It came without the mashed potatoes, Honest mistake, but usually they would come and take your plate back and put the potatoes on it They just came with a small side dish with cold mashed potatoes I ordered the 14 ounce prime rib And there was at least 6 ounces of fat on it. ( I understand prime rib has fat, but not Almost half of it) Me and my wife also had a twice baked potato Which was burnt and the inside was cold I couldn’t believe it. I cut it in half and the inside was cold . It was probably pre cooked and stored in the fridge and they just reheated it in a boiler. When I complained to the waitress, she had the manager come over who was very unpleasant It’s odd that she would be the manager with that personality She really wouldn’t do much which is fine. I’m not here to get free food. I just want food that’s cooked properly a 200. Dollar Dinner for my son‘s birthday should be a better quality considering the place I went to Unfortunately, we have to mark this keg off of our list of food places, and hopefully people that read my review...
Read moreI was high expecting one of the best steak house in North America. But I am kind of disappointed. It was busy nite on Friday . The front desk girls are not organized. Not smile not professional enough . You can tell they have. Hard time hiring people. Too dark to check menu , too noise . I don’t want to worry too much but food quality. Three of the famous item what we order . *Rib steak , good size , good grilled marked but I order medium rare . It over cook to medium well .the French fried is so bad.like other review mention , it s cold and cavendish’s quality in a plates 50$ I m very sad about it. *Prime rib, the mushroom rice was good and the size is good but not the high quality beef level.because taste bland. *Wellington beef. The size or shape is not the classic Wellington. Look flat and too much mushroom n vegetable inside the pastry . Cannot taste the beef and pastry together well . The mashed potato was taste good with butter and seasoning. *Long Island ice tea as cocktails but no taste . It better check the recipe . The worst is calamari , battle not cover well , over cook and size is small , May be I should not order there . One of the best is the bread , home bake with steam come out but it take long time to come and we finish the soup . It busy restaurant it can bake more and the waitress can easy to handle instead of wait 15min for a breads Wine is good match the steak with good price. What I order . So far you can tell not easy to have steak house with good location and good bands name. And experience . Put the review I hope it can improve the quality and make more people know how to eat and what they pay what they deserve . EVEN It’s busy or its lack of staff . And good training is important to them with American classic restaurant with good welcoming, wine open and Order procedures. Good luck...
Read moreI was visiting Ottawa for the weekend and my friends and I decided to go treat ourselves to some good food at the Keg. The hostess was nice but our waiter Rhea was giving us "off vibes". She asked if it was our first time visiting the Keg (not sure if that’s protocol) but I was offended to be honest since I go to the Keg often. Anyways, we ordered the food, and she asked if we wanted bread? Again, I was never asked this before so I’m not sure if it’s this locations rules to ask. After the bread, one of my friends asked for a Caesar salad and she got a different one by accident. After changing it, I asked for napkins and she forgot to bring them to me. When the steaks came, I ordered medium and mine was legit fully cooked. I just decided to let the waiter know that this wasn’t medium (just to point it out) but I’m not sending the food back since I wasn’t going to let my friends wait to eat together. The waitress asked me to cut the steak in half to prove its medium. Then one of the managers came and “touched base” about what happened (her attitude was so fake and rude) I didn’t even waste time talking to her since I could tell we weren’t welcomed there. She offered to replace my steak to which I said no since again I’m not letting my friends wait because the chef messed up. Overall I love the Keg but this location needs to work on their staff since it’s in the middle of Byward Market I could’ve gone to any of the other restaurants to dine in. And to end it off, my friend wanted to pay cash and gave her change as a form of tip and her attitude changed. Like I’m sorry? The only good thing was I got free...
