Worst place to call as a South indian restaurant. If you are expecting kerala food, you are in the wrong place. The ambiance was good, and the service for taking the order is good, but always ask them if they are preparing or not after 15 minutes. They missed 2 orders that we ordered, and they were not even aware of that and were asking if they could take the receipt for the food or not. Once you order something, dont expect their service after we get something or part of the order. They will be too busy taking new orders. We ordered 2 coffees and a tea but they missed the tea and about 10 mins after we got the coffee, finally we got the tea. The food is not comparable if you have tasted kerala food from GTA. The biriyanis were like common rice and masala less pieces stuffed between rice. The quantity for different biriyanis was different as we tried both shrimp and beef(veal). I am not mentioning the meat temperature, as you can imagine from my previous words. The porotta was comparatively ok, but when we ordered a chicken dish and told to make it less salt, as it was for a pregnant lady, they made the chicken with lots of salt and the rest with less salt. Since we didn't have much time to reorder, as the dish came after about 30 minutes of waiting, we somehow finished half of it, as we were so hungry. Some says food tastes more when we are hungry, but even if in that case, i felt the beef fry which we ordered found to be pleasing at look but felt the meat was bland and from someday frozen. Though you feel a cutlet is cheap for 4 dollars + tax, I didn't feel the same as a plate of cutlet with 2 small pieces of 8$+ tax. I cant finish my review without saying about the much awaited fish thali meals with king fish. The platter was pleasing for the eyes but not for the tongue. The rice was ponni rice like basmati, the white rice. Dont expect the kerala matta rice here and in the thali you will get curd, sambar, pappadam, king fish curry( some curry with king fish in it, as I cant say it as a fish curry as I had many from different restaurants in Canada), some gravy with dal, some roast made from eggplant, and 1 more that I cant explain bcz it tasted so bad in a meal.
Still they they missed the fish platter that we ordered, and since we didn't have much more to wait there, we continued our way...
Read moreAmbience: Fantastic! Seating arrangements: Fantastic Service: Needs a tad bit work Food: Perhaps if they loose the guy who made my order, maybe there's a chance.
What I ordered for lunch: Masala Dosa, with masala outside the dosa Madras Coffee
Dosa: The menu claims the Dosa is a paper dosa but it really is just a nice dosa, not paper dosa.
The masala- it was sheer bland mashed potatoes. No spices, no pallette, no salt either. It was a lack luster job.
Sambar - The very first serving of Sambar visually presented microwaved/reheated vibe. It was subtly flavourful, the cause of the only star the food gets. Needs a little bit of salt to bring out all the flavours.
The problem and the cause of this tedious review: the white and the green chutneys.
Whoever sent out our order certainly forgot to TASTE before sending it out. Both the chutneys were SOUR beyond normal. The sourness was not that from limes/lemons. It was the sourness that stale coconut chutneys present.
The Coffee - Serviceable, was presented to us with a platter of used sugar packets mixed with others around 4 minutes after asking if it were ready 15 mins after we ordered it.
To sum it all up, Terrible, stale food. Lackluster action, very slow service. The only thing that kept me seated and complete my meal was my company and the ambience at...
Read moreI recently visited Kochin Kitchen for the second time, and once again, it was a delightful experience. On both occasions, we opted for the buffet and thoroughly enjoyed every dish. The food is consistently delicious, with a well-curated selection of flavors that cater to a wide range of tastes.
One dish that stood out during our first visit was the prawns curry—it was exceptional and became the main reason we decided to return. However, we were a bit disappointed to find that it had been replaced with salmon curry this time. Upon mentioning this to the staff, we were pleasantly surprised when they prepared and served the prawns curry especially for us. This gesture highlighted their excellent customer service and commitment to guest satisfaction.
The dining space is spacious, with a pleasant atmosphere and great attention to hygiene. It’s a comfortable place to enjoy a meal, whether with family or friends.
What makes Kochin Kitchen even more appealing is that their food isn’t overly spicy, making it suitable for people with different spice preferences. Their buffet option offers something for everyone, making it a great choice for group dining.
Overall, I highly recommend Kochin Kitchen to anyone looking for flavorful, well-prepared food and a welcoming dining experience. It’s...
