Delicious (like home-made) Latin American food in Ottawa!!

In late September 2023, we went for a Saturday evening dinner at La Paladar restaurant on Bronson Ave. in Ottawa -- and I am sure that we will be back soon!!

On a Saturday evening, the restaurant is was quite busy and the music added to the happy mood.

The "plato principal" (main dish) and the "tacuba" are both delicious and filling. I love fried plantains, which are a great side. And the meat in both dishes was tender.

The "tacuba" comes in a hard fried corn tortilla shell (generously-filled with meat, cheese and sauce); and the main dish reminds me of food you will get from an aunt or grandma at their home in Latin America.

I am glad that this restaurant exists and I wish them many years of successful business. My wife and I will be back soon and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a...

Amazing place to have an amazing time! Food is delicious, Nani and Gretel attention is natural, relaxed and you feel like home. Great Latin music! Overall amazing! True Cuban food with such a flavor and tasty dishes!! This is a place were not only Cuban and Latin people should go but all of the Canadians! This place in Ottawa was needed, and now we have it let's enjoy it! Ahh, if you want to taste a real Cuban sandwich, this is where you need to go, and Sundays Domino and "Caldosa", this is the real taste of Cuban culture. What a wonderful addition to the neighbourhood!! Some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in Ottawa at a very reasonable price. Tacos were simple, but excellent corn tortillas, the meat was plentiful and flavourful, and the hot sauces provided were excellent. Partner had a quesadilla which was also incredible. Great portions, great quality. Note that when we went the server was more comfortable in Spanish than English and the menus were in Spanish only, but I wouldn’t say this is a bad thing at all! In fact it added to the authenticity, just be prepared to do a bit of translating. Love the murals, we sat on the patio and got lots of sun. A must try if...

Their Pollo Frito (Fried Chicken ) was also really good! I love that they have balsamic vinegar, white vinegar and oil on the table to make your own light vinaigrette for your salad. We will definitely be back here again! Felt like being in Cuba! ❤️🇨🇺❤️

Inside the atmosphere was as expected, it has that Cuban charm with music, decor and Cuban scenes streaming on their screens. There is a good variety of dishes available. The lunchtime sandwiches are delicious and their prices are reasonable. This will definitely be a lunchtime spot the next time we're in Ottawa.
