#1: This is a nice coffee shop/ bakery/ weekend brunch place. I had the coffee + scone combo, which was $3.50 with a medium coffee. The scone was tasty (it was honey nut), very firm (almost crispy) on the outside, soft inside, and the honey on top was perfect. The Happy Goat coffee was delicious! They have a decent sized seating area, occupied mostly by tables (convenient for breakfast), but by the window there are several comfy chairs. They also have a cafe table or two outside on the sidewalk. They have locked Wi-Fi. I didn't note if they had any outlets. The washrooms were cute and clean.
Reading through the previous reviews, I kinda sensed what Kevin H mentioned 5 months ago: The "staff bumbling through" business...I definitely got a faint "I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing/this is still so new" vibe from the staff I interacted with, but not to the extent that they didn't take care of my order capably and efficiently.
#2: I visited again, again getting the coffee and scone combo (berry-something), which I think is a fantastic coffee + something combo, and highly enjoyed it. My companions also enjoyed...
Read moreSecond time here... Thought I would give it another chance. Left disappointed again. Here is a summary:
Pros: good location
Cons: $5 for a piece of pie the size of my finger is way too overpriced coffee was cold quiche is just microwaved for lunch service... Not even fresh service seems run by rather bumbling staff the lady in front of me received her piece of pie in 6 crumbled pieces I pointed at one thing on the menu and got another, and when I pointed this out they assured me I was charged correctly for the incorrect item (instead of, I dunno, charging me for the correct item?) the couple behind me got charged the wrong amount and they wrote a gift certificate for the difference instead of refunding the difference the guy behind the counter was wearing some dirty Tshirt from Citibank or whoever else was giving out free promotional t-shirts 5 years ago the pie is good, but I wouldn't be surprised if the place went under because of everything else; thought I was on an episode of...
Read moreI like the ambience of this coffee shop/ bakery/ eatery. It's friendly and casual, and the coffee and muffins are usually fairly decent. We used to go there for weekend brunches on a regular basis but stopped after having been disappointed by the quality of the food. The omelette was not cooked through inside at times. Other times, the over easy eggs were too well-cooked. Another issue was the tea was never hot enough and one thing I truly dislike is lukewarm tea. Recently, we decided to try brunch there again and I was really disappointed to see how the amount of food has shrunk compared to before. The breakfast special is supposed to consist of two eggs, meat (they would replace it with some salad if you don't eat meat), potatoes and fruit. There was only a tiny amount of potatoes and one sliver of fruit. Even though I'm a small person, I was still hungry after that brunch. I'll still go there for coffee and muffins but doubt I would return for brunch. There are other breakfast places with...
