I went in on Tuesday night for a social function and of course wanted to try their food. I was familiar with Mill St. through some of their alcoholic apple ciders, but they only had one on the menu in-restaurant compared to their online menu. A bit of a shame, but whatchagonnado? Since the only cider on tap was one I'd had before, I decided to go for a Beer Flight to try out four of their various beers. More on that in a second. Having looked at the online menu, I wanted to go for either the Elk Burger or the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, and the elk burger won me over because as my server, Charlotte, explained, it really is elk meat, and not just a name they give the burger! Delicious and juicy with a unique taste that tells you it isn't beef — but that isn't gamey or a bad aftertaste at all! — I'd definitely get it again. The fries reminded me of Swiss Chalet's fries, though they were smaller and drier, for lack of a better word. When I say drier, I mean that they weren't oily or bulging or anything like that. They weren't "dry" in the sense that they were super chewy, they were maybe just dried a teeny-tiny bit too much before frying. Still great fries! I enjoyed them a lot and only wish I had more! ;) Given that they're a brewery, I imagine the beer to be the major draw, so let me talk about the flight I got. As you can see in the photo, and if you refer to the menu, you get four 5 oz samples of beer for a combined total of 20 oz. Now, it's the same price as a large mug, but you get less overall, but if you're interested in trying out four of the beers they have on offer without having to get a full glass/mug/pitcher of a single kind, this is the way to go. (The glasses are also super cute and I loved them!) I tried the Portage, the Mango March, the Orange Citrus, and the Cobblestone Stout. Mango March - 1/5 - I wouldn't bother. The mango taste is so faint it might as well have not been there. I realize it's a gimmick, and I wasn't exactly expecting a flavoured beer, but I would've liked some consistent flavour throughout. It had a wheat-y aftertaste that I really didn't care for. Orange Citrus Wheat - 3/5 - Not bad by any stretch, but I couldn't any any orange or citrus. It was a fine beer, but there wasn't any taste of the gimmick, so I'd give this a pass, honestly. Portage Cream Ale - 4/5 - It's a little basic all things considered, but it's light and easy to drink. Your beeriest beer of the four, but if you're there, you're better off getting the stout! Cobbestone Stout - 5/5 - Absolutely DELICIOUS! I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone. I'm not super-experienced, but I've had a Guinness before, and this would be my preference. It isn't heavy, it's super smooth, and very tasty. Easy to drink and something different than your basic beers. If I go back, I'm definitely getting this. Charlotte, my server, was excellent and a real sweetheart. I arrived about 30 minutes late to the function, but I was definitely taken care of when it came to food and drink and I was even able to ask her for recommendations when it came to the beer. If I remember right, she recommended the Orange Citrus. The ambience is lovely, the food is really good, but certain things can be a tad pricey. I opted against dessert because I couldn't possibly justify spending $12 on the toffee pudding I'd wanted. The elk burger is $25, and worth it, I'd say, but save it for a special occasion. Overall excellent, would recommend, but know going in that certain things are pricey for good reason!

first time visiting this, unique and historic restaurant and brew pub. It's gorgeous on the outside, with multiple patio outdoor set ups. Situated right by the water it's visually stunning. As we entered, the aesthetics of the pub were awesome. From the stonewalls to the huge beer brewing canisters and with all of the different sections and hidden nooks, it is super nice. Everything was unique, bright, spacious with excellent air, quality and fantastic management of music volume and people chatter. We attended at 4:45 PM and the place was busy reflecting its popularity. We were immediately seated, and within minutes our very friendly server approached our table to take our order. We explained that we had further plans and would be meeting up with other people and was wondering what the wait time would be on ordering different types of food from their menu. Within two minutes we had narrowed down what would work within our schedule and happily placed our order. Our server was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and most importantly, the information she provided us was absolutely accurate. We had our food within 12 minutes and it was absolutely delicious. I believe that with effective communication with your server, it will change the outcome of your entire experience here. The food portions were very generous, the prices were reasonable, and we all agreed that we will definitely be visiting this place multiple times down the road. I highly recommend to families, corporate events, friends going out, and also an excellent location for a date. There is ample parking, and as I mentioned at the beginning of my review, the location was visually stunning. Make for some time to take a walk around the grounds, read the historic plaques and articles, mounted here and there, and really soak in the historical ambience. It will add depth to your experience!! Highly recommend. #LocalGuide.

6 April 2023 was my daughter's wedding. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves. 27 adults + a 1 and 2 year old. The wedding ceremony began at 11:00am followed by appetizers and then the reception/lunch at 1:30pm. The venue was absolutely perfect. A bar with a sitting area and the area for the wedding/lunch. It has that wood/stone rustic decor. So calming and beautiful for pictures. The whole venue was very clean and a lot of windows made it so bright. We had 2 staff members, Julia & Taya taking care of all of us throughout the 5 hours which included the bar and serving us our appetizers and lunch. I can't say enough about these 2 women who never missed a beat, and anything you asked for, they did it immediately with a huge smile on their face. So friendly to talk with and professional. They were so good looking after the early lunch for the 2 kids immediately following the wedding ceremony. As the kids were eating, out came many, many appetizers which were a meal in itself! Everyone raved on the delicious food. When it came time for our sit down lunch, each course, soup, salad and main dish were all served promptly in order. The food is outstanding! Soup and main meal were served hot and delicious, and the salad was cold and crisp. We catered in our own desserts and they set it all up for us. So all in all, the venue in total stood up to make this an excellent, memorable wedding. Highly recommended for venue and food. Once again, Julia and Taya, thank you so much for your dedicated, fantastic service! p.s. a bonus for the Mill St. Brew Pub ... lots of free parking!

This was my second time at a Mill Street Brew Pub, after visiting the one in the Toronto Historic Distillery District—and I loved it again! The historic and picturesque backdrop, cozy yet classy ambiance, well-mannered staff, and delicious food made for a fantastic experience. Truly, one couldn’t ask for more! We visited during Thanksgiving weekend with my colleague and their family, making us a group of four. We ordered a variety of dishes: Chicken and Mushroom Pot Pie, Fried Chicken Sandwich, the Thanksgiving Special Turkey Meal, and the Thanksgiving Special Lamb Meal. I personally tried the Lamb Meal and the Pot Pie. The lamb was tender, and the gravy was absolutely delicious—one of the best I’ve ever had. The pie was also excellent. My colleague and his wife had drinks: the Portage Creme Ale and the Mill St Breeze. According to them, both drinks were really good! Overall, we had a great time, and this place is now on my list of recommended spots for bringing guests and friends visiting us in Ottawa.

I have to update this review and give them a full 5 stars. Amy reached out unsatisfied that our experience was underwhelming and asked us to give them a second try. We went for our anniversary and I won't lie, it was a delightful experience. They had us at a table on an enclosed balcony that hangs over the water with glass on two sides. The food was excellent and they even gave us a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary. Than you @amy I got nothing but love for Mill Street from this day forward. Word to the wise, the deserts are huge, we didn't need one each but damn, they were so fine. ----------- Original Review---------- It was ok, the kid who served us was nice enough, but didn't know the menu at all, had to keep checking with the kitchen on stuff. The drinks didn't come till well after the food did (food was just OK) the whole experience left us unimpressed.

Great place for patio drinks and the service is outstanding. The food is pretty average though as there were some hiccups. My friend's Eggs Benedict came with fried eggs(?!) and the eggs on my breakfast skillet came hard poached. The elements of my skillet dish wasn't hot enough for me, potatoes and bacon were probably pre-cooked and just assembled rather than made to order. The beer options they have are awesome. A server came by with samples of their new watermelon wheat beer which was nice. Every server we encountered was super friendly and cheerful so props to them! Parking: for some reason when we arrived at noon on Sunday the garage was closed and a bunch of Porche car meet guys took up a good chunk of the open air lot. By the time we left the garage was open so FYI they might not open the garage when they do the restaurant.
