Spin is an upscale bar & restaurant with a splendid array of food and drink, something for every discerning palette. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere are superb 👍👍
Spin has been a sanctuary over the past two holiday seasons. My new addiction. Sports on the big screen are a plus. The hotel hosts many hockey teams, incuding World Juniors. The vibe in the bar is lively, eclectic & electric.
Have enjoyed Rum & Coke, Clam Chowder, Mushrooms on Toast, Mushroom Ravioli, Chicken Thighs, Marinated Sicilian Olives, Chocolate Mousse Cake & a Vanilla Sundae. Amazing dishes, service, atmosphere & value.
Was on the floor for a few visits. Had the Mushrooms on Toast on Christmas Day. Hai was a polite, friendly, knowledgeable, discrete & professional server.
We discussed some menu items & it was clear more visits were needed to sample & appreciate the full array.
Was back on Boxing Day 2024. Sat in the same seat with a fine view of the screen.
Hai came by, said hello & brought over my drink order. Locked in the Wild Mushroom Ravioli & settled in to watch the World Juniors
Hai noticed my menu deliberations & provided me with the Breakfast & Lunch Menus. After thorough perusal, resolved to adjust my routines & bicycle over more often. 🚲
Hai came over with the Wild Mushroom Ravioli & placed the dish in front of me with a flourish. Each ravioli fit perfectly on my spoon & was gratefully received & enjoyed. 🍄
Worked my way through the deep dish savouring every slice, puntuated by sips of spiced rum & coke & cheers from the crowd as Canada made big plays & skated to a 3-0 win 🍁
Selected the Marinated Sicilian Olives from the bar snack menu, tangy from the lemon & garlic. 🫒
Topped off the evening with a repeat on the Chocolate Mousse. Wow. An incredible night of dining and sampling.
Chatted with Hai throughout the evening as he made his appointed rounds. Turns out we went to the same post-secondary institutions. He's an Economics major from a family of chefs. He told me of his journey to the Marriot. Wrote down one of his observations ... "your strengths come from your weakness." Hai's a philosopher & a student of his craft.
Noted the Festive Table D'Hôte Turkey dinner on the menu & remarked that stranded travellers looking for some Christmas cheer would be comforted by the tastes & aromas of home away from home for the holidays. Will have to wait until next year to enjoy the pièce de résistance. 🦃🎄
On a recent visit bartender extraordinaire Hawa recommended the East Coast Chowder. Took his advice and enjoyed every spoonful. A soup which is like a meal. Recommended 👍
Was back on New Year's Day 2025 & selected the Chicken Thighs. Hawa affirmed the selection. Every bite was superb. Highly recommended.
Hawa said it was his go-to, along with the Trout. Will be back for that in the near future🎣
Topped off the evening with a vanilla ice cream/chocolate drizzle Vanilla Sundae. Don't think it's on the menu so ask for it.
Will be back to Spin soon & often. A gem in the National Capital 💎

I dropped by Spin Kitchen and Bar for a spontaneous lunch with my wife while passing near her office, and it turned out to be a solid choice. Service was decent and impressively quick — ideal for anyone on a lunch break. Our meals arrived in record time, which left us with enough minutes to take a short walk around the block and enjoy the fresh city air before heading back to work.
The food itself was good. Not groundbreaking, but it checked all the boxes. I had the pulled pork poutine — hearty, satisfying, and exactly what I needed. My wife enjoyed her soup, and we both left full and happy. Portion sizes were generous enough without going overboard.
The beer menu is fairly limited, but there's something for everyone — I had no trouble finding one I liked.
The decor is classic business-casual: clean lines, modern touches, and a professional vibe that makes it suitable for a quick work meeting or a laid-back lunch date. One thing we noticed: there was no music playing. That might be intentional to encourage conversation, but a touch of background music would have helped soften the sound of nearby tables. That said, the spacing between groups made it a non-issue during our visit.
Overall, Spin offers a convenient and efficient dining option in downtown Ottawa — nothing flashy, but dependable when time is short and you're after a comfortable,...
Read moreI might be cursed lately, as I have tried two establishments lately for breakfast and have been disappointed with both of them. I attended a retirement breakfast for my wife, and was greeted by a nice selection of breakfast items. Don't get the scrambled eggs, as they are runny....and if they aren't powder eggs, I would be so surprised that real eggs can be messed up that bad. I was provided the option of getting an omelet or eggs any way I like, so I ordered some scrambled eggs without cheese, and got the same runny eggs that were served in the buffet.
Maybe, I should have gotten an omelet instead, because the scrambled eggs threw me off for the entire rest of the meal. The coffee was good, the sausages were very nice, and the roasted potatoes were excellent.
I was a little surprised that the price was a whopping $43 after the auto tip was included automatically due to the party being 12 people. I have no problem with an auto-tip, but at 18% I think it's a tad high based on the fact that we serve ourselves at the buffet.
I won't be going there again, because I don't think breakfast should be more than $20....especially for the breakfast that I received.
P.S. On a side note, the people who ordered coffee only - were charged $7....plus the tip - like really, is...
