Worst experience Iāve ever had. Out of order washroom sign has been there for a year & she said āsomeone just broke everything in thereā and mumbled some other things. You can just say its employees only and not lie to your customers that are giving you business.
Second we got our order, while we were driving we had 1 bite each and was so salty that I had to turn around to get it remade or refunded. It was so bad that we couldnāt even swallow it. When I got there I politely told the lady that we both found it was way too salty and if they could remake, give us a different one or refund. The girl had the audacity to say Iām making up excuses and that the poutine is fine? Sorry are you the one eating or are we? She was very rude, said that Iām lying and that everyone thinks itās fine and itās only us. Thatās not how you deal with situations like this. Why you arguing with your customers and accusing them of lying? you think Iām benefiting anything from complaining there was only 2 bites taken out, Im just tryna have an enjoyable poutine. She argued and raised her voice over a poutine that cost them 2 bucks to make. She said she not doing anything bout it and will only give me dry fries back š worst customer service, this girl is MISERABLE you can see it in her eyes. These people donāt know how to manage a business theyād rather fight you over 1 poutine than make a...

Smokes Poutine in Ottawa is the perfect example of a place that relies solely on branding and gimmicks instead of delivering actual quality food. I went in expecting a decent poutine experience, and what I got was a salty, overpriced mess that left me wondering how this place is still in business.
I tried a few options ā the traditional and the pulled pork ā and honestly, they were barely edible. The gravy tasted like a salt mine was dumped into it, completely overpowering anything else in the dish. The pulled pork was dry, stringy, and just added to the confusion of flavors that had no balance whatsoever. I couldnāt even finish it, and thatās saying a lot for someone who genuinely loves poutine.
For the price they charge, you'd think they were flying in artisanal cheese curds from the Alps and using potatoes grown on sacred soil. But no ā this was fast food quality at gourmet prices, and not even good fast food. Everything from the soggy fries to the absurd amount of salt screamed cheap ingredients, masked by a trendy name and a flashy menu.
If youāre into paying premium prices for the culinary equivalent of a sodium overdose, sure, give it a go. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and find literally any other poutine spot in Ottawa. This place is a joke ā and not even...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSooooo disappointed. Smoke's was recommended to me by someone saying it was one of the best poutines around!!! My son and I are on the hunt for ottawas best poutine and have tried many!! Smokes was by far the worst of the bunch!! Was going to branch out and actually try a chicken chili poutine but they were out of chili (thank god as I may have just passed the experience as bad because I tried something new) so went safe and ordered the traditional. Size of poutine was generous...or maybe I should size of the fries as there was hardly any gravy or curds. In fact under the first couple fries it was bone dry. I actually went up and ordered a side of gravy but was still a very disappointing experience. Seeing as we only test a new one once every couple weeks I felt shafted lol. Gave it two stars only because the cashier gave me the drinks free because they were out of (and I didn't ask she just did it on her own) and the side of gravy I had to order was only $1.05 which I thought was cheap and fries were not too bad. But if you are looking for a REAL Quebec style poutine this is...
