The Curry Palace — Restaurant in Ottawa

This is one of the most highly regarded Indian restaurants in the city for good reason. This place is my go-to curry house.

Definitely try their Butter Chicken, it's easily the best I've had with a very complex blend of spices. Their Karahi Paneer is great too, with a very good balance of paneer and vegetables. The naan is made fresh in-house and is quite thick and hearty. They have some Hakka options: The Chicken Manchurian was solid, but I was expecting it to be a little more spicy.

Portion sizes are fantastic, the takeout container is always full to the brim. I usually get two meals per item and most curries come with a side of rice.

Their customer service is fantastic. Since I'd liked their curry so much, I called ahead to place a very big order without too much advance notice, and the owners helped me out directly with pickup plans and a special payment method. If you want to get a lot of curry fast, they can do it!

You know you're at the right Indian restaurant when you're the only non-Indian who is there. The service is excellent, food is delish and authentic (yes I know what I'm saying). I loved the steamed veggie momos but my friend didn't share my excitement (to even this out, I took away one star).She thoroughly enjoyed the lamb curry we ordered. The naan was freshly baked and handmade, clearly not from a package. We both enjoyed the butter chicken. My first time there, I ordered channa masala, which is my fave curry and the one I order (besides butter chicken) to decide whether to go back or not. There is mainly one con: there is no seating. This is very smart for the business to keep costs low and to transfer that low cost to an affordable price for the customers, but I do wish they even had a small space because for someone like me who doesn't live close, it would be nice to eat the meal fresh and not have to reheat at home. I recently visited this restaurant, for a takeout order. I called ahead the night before and the staff were very helpful with instructions on how to proceed with my order ( as it is only takeout and I had time constraints for the day of pickup). When I calle the following day the person taking my order was extremely patient and helpful. The only reason I rated 4stars is because online the menu does not indicate what is included with the meals (as I was adding items that would already come with the dishes) and I really wish Google allowed us to give .5 ratings 4.5/5.

Everything tasted amazing- everything was tasted fresh from the flaky samosas, bubbly yet crisp naan, flavourful dishes, and the perfectly sweet Gulab jamun- dinner was a hit!

When I called ahead I was advised of an order time for 25-30minutes which was perfect as it would give me enough time for the commute!

I highly recommend if you live in the area or surrounding area- the portions are great...
