My other half is always the one to peruse menus in advance and chose restaurants and with this in mind we decided to come to this place, remembering the other great places in Canada, not existing anymore though: this is the last place to function and it was rather disappointing from culinary point of view: - limited selection of savoury and sweet food I like but in the end I managed to find something to get the necessary nutrients for my anaemia and stomach; as opposed to the massive selection we could find pre-pandemic. Based on this I would have given this place low stars - however the young server was a very friendly and welcoming lady and allowed us to sit anywhere in the empty restaurant. A few more people arrived later, although I doubt they were tourists visiting the nearby attractions as they looked a bit funny dressed (as you find in this area packed with restaurants) and probably this is the only place they could enter as if they owned the place due to lack of customers and also the fact they could fill in their massive plates (and put stuff in their bags too) - the restaurant itself is clean cut and the owner made the effort to make it look attractive and welcoming, clean cut and big thanks to our server, hence giving it 4 stars. You can put up with limited food if the server is not aggressive and the owner rude as I found in another place on the other side of the continent.

*UPDATE: June 2020 they’re officially closing all locations and blaming COVID-19. BS! This review from 2016 is even more accurate now!* Firstly, I actually think this place is amazing. We came here for the dinner buffet on a Friday night. The wait time was only 10 minutes-if that. The food was great! Flavourful, consistent, and diverse! The staff were kind and our waitress, Kelsey, was a joy to have. The reason my rating is so low is because of a few key issues I noticed whilst dining. 1. The ice cream bar has no attendant. I watched several women with long hair diving down to get a scoop of ice cream, their hair going with them and touching the food! 2. Less than 10 minutes to close, I observed the chefs completely fill several food bowls at the buffet. Now you may think that this is not an issue, but here's the kicker. ALL THE FOOD LEFTOVER AT THE END OF THE NIGHT IS THROWN OUT. Absolutely nothing is donated to food banks or soup kitchens. The fresh calamari I saw being put out will all go to waste. I can't believe this is allowed. It disgusted me and gave me severely mixed feelings about dining here. 3. There is no charges for wasting food. I watched several tables of people leaving full meals out and paying the bill. After talking to some of the waiters they expressed my same concerns. They watch people not eat all the food they get and leave with lots of uneaten food, with no repercussions. This is easily the least sustainable restaurant I have ever seen. I will never eat here again until major, publicized changes are made. I wish the government would fine businesses that waste as much food as Tucker's does.

Edit: April 21, 2023 - I was so excited when I heard Tucker's had opened back up, and I was thrilled to celebrate my birthday here. However, the updated Tucker's is now one of my least favorite restaurants. There was no ice cream at all, and the build your own Sunday was always a favorite of mine! There was no chocolate fountain that used to be there, the only dessert that was available were little cake squares... The kind you would get at the Costco bakery. There was no marshmallows or bananas that you could cover in chocolate, and the pudding was empty. Photo shows the entire dessert selection. The drink menu has also been significantly reduced, and you can no longer get fun fancy drinks like strawberry daiquiris. As for the dinner itself, most of the food was room temperature, and their Caesar salad had mushrooms and corn in it! Gross! Honestly, the best food available at the buffet was the chicken fingers and french fries, and I could have gotten that much cheaper at any other restaurant. The food selection was extremely disappointing, and the restaurant is half the size that it used to be. The only upside was the waiters were very courteous and friendly. Original: April 21, 2018 - Best buffet place in Ottawa! The food is great, and I love their deserts and ice-cream Sunday bar!

Tucker's Marketplace offers an Italian buffet experience with an impressive variety of options across its seven stations. The first station featured beef and pork steaks, along with a pasta section where you can customize your own dish. The second station presented a mix of diverse foods including BBQ chicken, fried Climala fish, fried onion, noodles, and stime vagy - offering something for everyone's palate. The third station included staples like soup, French fries, and tacos, while the fourth station was a pizza lover's delight, allowing guests to request and create personalized pizzas. The fifth station was dedicated to salads and fruit, providing a refreshing balance to the meal. At the sixth station, there was a bread section where you could request to have your bread warmed up, or even transformed into garlic bread in the pizza oven. Lastly, the dessert station was a treat with a selection that included cakes, chocolate tower, pudding, and ice cream. The variety and quality at Tucker's Marketplace make it a fantastic destination for those who love Italian cuisine and enjoy exploring different flavors and combinations. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or have a sweet tooth, this buffet has something to satisfy everyone.

The worse experience I have ever had in any restaurant in the world! Thanks to the server who was trying his best to make good of a bad situation. Who have walked out when it took 15mins to be seated. Tables were covered soiled plates etc, 20% of clean plates still had food and staines from before, food was cold, selection of food was minimal, not what we paid $30 per head for. What a complete waste of $150+tax. Tried to order drinks but couldn’t event do that. I don’t recommend anyone from going there. Serious staffing issues that impact the dinning experience. I thought waiting a week before I post this might have changed my perspective but no luck. Sorry guys people need to know how bad your service and food is so they don’t waste their hard earned money.

I read the reviews before coming and wanted to taste for myself as I had been coming to Tuckers for years before the covid closure. I can only describe the food as deplorable. Cold food, overcooked vegetables, undercooked chicken legs, shrimp pasta with no shrimp, terrible pizza crust, and boxed mashed potatoes(the list could go on and on). I spat out food twice (the brisket and egg salad). The dessert options were boring and tasteless, all pre-packaged like what is served at healthcare facilities... Only good points were the Margarita that was super strong 💪 😉, the lovely server, and the chicken wings. I really, really do hope they improve....because I do miss the old tuckers marketplace.. I have very little faith at this point...
