Very impressed with this place.

The food is a good twist on Spanish dishes, from croquetas to jamon iberico to wonderful sardines. Overall, for dining, think small plates, tapas cocktails and wine. But there are also dishes evocative of British classics (instead of pork with crackling and apple sauce they have porcheta with fermented pears and chicheron) or Japanese (instead of toro on sesame with shizo leaves they have seared tuna on bread crisps with amaranth). The dishes were in flux when I dined and the the chef was testing off-menu dishes with a few of the diners and truly looking for critical feedback. He cares. And it shows.

Speaking of drinks, the bartender was very inviting, recognized regulars and was great at building rapport and reading his guests (going so far as playing "name that underground hip hop act from the 90s" with the music playlist). Everyone was made welcome. They have about a half dozen cocktails on the menu, but the bartender was happy to mix drinks to order using the bottles they had. Don't expect a choice of twenty different whiskeys or gins, but do expect well wrought suggestions. Go with the flow, sample what they have and you'll enjoy your evening.

If you're still wondering if you should try this place... local cooks and caterers were coming for snacks and drinks after their shift so it clearly has...

An absolutely incredible Tapas bar in Penticton, that serves up honestly some of the best Tapas I’ve had outside of Spain.

Chulo has a small indoor restaurant and also an outdoor space too, but as we went along early we managed to grab a table. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and an open kitchen, so you can see and smell all the amazing dishes coming out.

We ordered a wide selection of their Tapas, and they all came along in the perfect order. I would write out my highlights of the dishes but in all honesty we enjoyed every single thing. The Albondigas and Tuna Tonnato were both sensational dishes - and both the desserts were great too.

The service was also fantastic, and all the team were so caring, knowledgeable and friendly. They also made some fantastic cocktails too!

Overall, the whole experience at Chulo Tapas Bar was perfection. The food was amazing, the staff were top-notch and I felt it was very reasonably priced too. I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re...

It was my birthday. I went alone and was immediately struck by how busy and cozy it was. I was welcomed right away and I chose a seat at the bar. I am lucky in that I enjoy all food and have no allergies, so I told them that all the dished were their choice and I wasn't disappointed in any of them. For beverages, I started with a glass of Tin Whistle Cervesa, followed by the Mas Fi Brut and finished withe the Last Day cocktail, then an espresso with dessert (Crema Catalan). Throughout my visit I enjoyed the Tuna Tonnato, Patatas Bravas, Gambas al Ajillo, Albonigas. I also had the nibbler of heated mixed olives/roasted garlic and slivered almonds. It was a great meal and a great place to see a few friends who were also enjoying the offerings. Take advantage! A...

We went on a Monday for paella night. $40/person which includes a set menu of small bites, paella to share (we were 2 people) and a glass of wine or beer with your meal. The food is unique but good! We also ordered some croquetas after our meal just to try and they were very good. Small restaurant with limited seating. We had a couple cocktails while waiting for a table and ended up sitting outside on their patio at the bar. Servers were friendly and relatively attentive. A fun, different place in Penticton you should check out!
