I went there for my birthday on 21st of Aug. Table of 10. We called 2 in advanced to book a table table new covide rules came to called the next day again to double confirm, to be told they don't actually do resos. So who did we book a table with yesterday ? My friend arrived at 530 pm to get a table they were 30 min wait , no big deal. We went over to neighborhood pub for some drink while we waited. In that time my friend order 2 to 3 drinks and some appies. We called 2 times with the same awnser , 30 minutes still. So we decided to walk over and see what going in. Got meet with a extremely rude hosts telling us we have to wait more . Even though we can see 5 empty tables and 2 which si gle people in them. ( about an 1.45 minutes of us waiting to get in) we order some drinks which took us 20 minutes get. Then we went to order to food I wanted the tomahawk steak , which was told they didn't have the minis just the regular size and I had to share ( I domt share food so I passed ) I got a different steak which was very good , just wanted more meat especially with this being a steak house. 1/2 I steak doesn't call to me as a steak house 😅 but also order appies , which never showed and when I asked about them the server said " oh did you still want thoes ?" To which I said yes . They still never came. One meal came put bone cold as we watched in window for a hour sit. Then we tried to pay and she did half the table and gave the machine to other people and told us we had to wait. When I told her I have a baby waiting at home and it's now 10 pm. She looked at me went " ugh and did a hand flip thing " like I was annoying her. It seemed like we were an inconvenience to everyone who worked there. Slow service, bad waitresses, no management. Would not go again just purely due the service which sucks cause the food was good. Took my table 4 hours to get in a out and that was mainly waiting for drinks and food. Was...
Read moreMy first time at The Black Antler was in every way unenjoyable! Sorry! The only decent part of my visit was that the bartender made me a great drink that was thankfully so strong, it lasted the entire hour I was there. I walked in, and in what appeared to be a summer balcony area, appeared completely full except for one table in the corner against two plastic wall-windows. When I got to the hostess beside the kitchen area, I could hear one of the cooks taking about how he was holding “six or seven tickets that he hasn’t even begun to start.” He started laughing and looked right at me when he said it, as if to say it will take forever to receive any food. The hostess said the place was busy and there were no tables to sit at, but I could order food at the bar. I asked if she could take my name and then seat me somewhere when a table became available, and she said yes. I ordered my drink, and sat at the bar for about 15 minutes when I noticed she had placed two other parties who arrived after me, at empty tables. I then asked why they were seated first, and she had said she forgotten and the other hostesses didn’t pay attention to my name that was written down to be placed first. I was then placed at the corner table I saw empty when I first walked in. The room was freezing, and couldn’t take my jacket off. My waitress was slow at even getting to my table, and once again to place my order. After 25 or so minutes, my husband and I received our appetizers that were ice cold, and one of them was supposed to be a hot cheese dip(nacho chips that were way to hard), and even my calamari was ice cold. At that point, it had been about an hour of being there, and all I could do was leave! When explaining the situation to my waitress, I didn’t even get an apology from her, or even the management on duty that she said she was going to...
Read moreGreat gastropub experience. I see they have mostly positive but mixed reviews. I’ll break it down 1.The one person hosting/busing/supplementing staff/managing patron flow is the kind of efficient, effective, chill, positive representation that set the right tone. The big line outside and empty tables inside were concerning. We quickly understood we would be well cared for, the line going fast, and we spotted patron flow was being managed adequately for good service. Our server was the manager (finally an establishment where it was easy to understand how they earned the position). Smooth, fun, fast, helpful, knowledgeable, even though the staff was stretched at that busy point on a Monday evening. Understaffed but all servers managing it with hard working ease and friendliness. Ambience great. If you think you are over the lead pipe, woodsy, dark paint decor, here it is done with a reserved touch, a cohesive attention to detail, and suited well for it’s menu and locale. The right vibe here for dinner for two, family, or big group. Food. A couple wines and a couple of the menu items were not available. This is one of the busiest restaurants around, it’s August, of a long weekend. This kind of thing does not bother us, they have lots of choices. Steaks were perfect, serving sizes way too big, sides and apps fantastic. Good variety of local wines and brews a plenty. Gluten Free dining and restrictive dietary needs- gf choices that in gf dining are unicorns-breaded shrimp, hot spinach and cheese dip, chicken wings etc.The shrimp was perfectly cooked light and tender inside, crisp and not greasy at all outside. All diners in our party had what they needed to eat deliciously and safely. Very positive experience dining here. Highly recommend it to laid back, hungry, slightly food...
