Short version: Go here. Best Poutine in the Okanagan. The photo is of a medium served in a large cup to accommodate extra cheese. They never skimp here and a regular order is always overflowing the cup. Longer version: 15 years ago my Quebecoise wife took me here when I first visited Canada. She was a fruit picker working in the area for several years, don't worry she's one of the good ones ;) and wanted to introduce me to her national dish. I am a typical gluttonous American who loves fries and burgers but I had never heard of this thing called poutine. We stopped by, picked up a couple cups of fries covered in gravy and cheese and headed to the waterfront. My life has not been the same since. I have now made it my mission to eat poutine everywhere I can find it. From Victoria to Quebec City to Halifax to Shediac and everywhere in-between. Jeffer's holds up. I cannot in good conscience say it's better than the best I've had in Quebec, but for BC it is right at the top of my list and it's better than many I've had in Quebec as well. Please go. It is a modern Penticton institution. And if you are an American who has never heard of poutine, give it a shot and you may discover a new foodie obsession. One critique I have is that the cup type vessel is not the best for poutine. Great for just fries, but I prefer a tray type vessel for poutine. It helps the fries stay crisp and lets you kind of select how much cheese and gravy you may like...
Read moreIn many many MANY years, as far as I can remember, I've been stopping there with my mom as a young child, then by myself as I got older, I think I even worked for him during the Ironman Canada Triathlon when I was just a kid & pressed potatos like mad through the cutter, box after box after box, I'm pretty sure, if my memory serves me right, he was sooooo busy that I couldn't keep up!
I actually snuck off & disappeared, now every time I see a big Idaho russet potato I get flashbacks & try to hide somewhere dark.
All kidding aside, he always manages to keep everyone's orders straight & prompt, almost EVERYONE at Ironman(when it was here) or Peach Festival wants Jefferz Fries, au natural, some with gravy & some with gravy & cheese curds aka poutine. The gravy is fantastic, try it with a little Ketchup, a sprinkle of seasoning salt (or regular salt) and a very slight sprinkle of vinegar or better yet, just POUTINE IT UP! You won't be disappointed, after 37+ years of knowing Jeffer (I'm 45 now), knowing his eye for quality, he has literally...
Read moreWhen I was told the best poutine in Penticton is from a food truck, I had to go try it ASAP.
I was not led astray! Their poutine is absolutely delicious. The fries are crispy, the gravy is rich in flavour and you can never go wrong with extra cheese curds. They layer the poutine, fries, cheese, gravy, repeat which ensures you get a little bit of everything with each bite. The fries are also seasoned deliciously on their own!
The smokie was also delicious. It was very juicy and had a great âsnapâ on the outside. They ask you what complimentary add ons youâd like (and they have ketchup on the table outside their food truck).
The peach juice was refreshing and worth the price.
Canât wait to go back and try their fish and chips next! Going to be a staple place to eat...
