Sushi Genki+ Ramen — Restaurant in Penticton

This was the best ramen I’ve had. I’m not stretching my truth. The best!! Served with 3 pork dumplings. The ramen was the main. The pork dumplings were done perfectly and they were delicious. The black garlic ramen was unbelievably good. I would have liked a few more noodles but that’s my hunger speaking, not my taste buds. I’m here for 3 more weeks so I’ll definitely be back. Only 4 tables inside with an additional 3 stools at an eating bar. So if you don’t have to don’t go at noon. It’s really nice inside. It’s clean and it’s organized. The woman who looked after me is one of the owners and she’s a sweet person. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but do yourself a favour and go in to see for yourself. I've been to Japan three times and often find that as a result, it's difficult to find North American Japanese restaurants that are good. Well, Sushi Genki is one of those few gems. Very affordable Japanese restaurant with a full menu, in a café sized portion. They have ramen, nigiri, maki, udon, and even Chinese style dim sum fare. The owner-operators are from a Japanese background, which is always a bonus. I had the nigiri teisyoku (comes with nigiri, spicy tuna maki, California maki, wakame, tempura, and miso) and an otoro nigiri. The presentation was simple but nice, and the nigiri were generously sized. The rice was very good, which is the main thing to look for in quality nigiri. All for $20! You can order Calpico if you like. There is also a large box of ginger at each seat, which I happily partook in.

An absolute gem! Such friendly and wonderful service, even when they were ridiculously busy, they went out of their way to provide wonderful service. The pork ramen and pork dim sum were outstanding, we have had both in Japan and this was up there with true authentic Japanese cuisine. They also provide a gluten free menu and combo, it was so fresh and beautifully presented, the salmon roll was mouth watering! Real ginger and wasabi as well. I can't forget the mochi mango icecream... we have been craving this since Japan and this hit the spot, a sweet sticky mango bomb! We will have to make more frequent visits to Penticton for...
