Location: In the heart of Percé's village and walkable from most hotels and rooming houses. We walked so I didn't notice if they had parking or not.
The place: The restaurant is located in this great little house that gives off contemporary beach vibes. Fantastic interior with a minimalist yet homey feel to it. They only have a few tables indoors (but they also have a terrace) so I would suggest reserving if you really want to dine here.
The goods: Well, where do I begin? The menu is created on the daily so you don't really know what you'll be having for dinner. On Friday evening, they were serving octopus so that's what I decided to try - I even convinced my mom to try it and she isn't adventurous at all. The octopus was served grilled with a saffron aioli and a mango emulsion + a side of home fries. The dish was delicious and beautifully presented. My mom enjoyed the dish as well, although she insisted the octopus had 'skin' and therefore removed the grilled portion (LOL). We finished with the tarte tatin that was, in a word, to die for. To be fair, our host did walk around with the entire thing after taking it out of the oven - as a way of tempting folk. He didn't lead us astray - it was bloody awesome.
Service: Great - the gentlemen who were working on the evening that we went were friendly.
Price point: Very reasonable for such delicious food, and on par with the other good restos in the area.
If you're in the area, I recommend checking these guys out - you won't be...
Read moreMy wife and I went out for dinner at the Maison Black Whale.
The parking can present a problem, but we were able to park in an unattended lot next to the Co-Op grocery store.
The waitress from Quebec city was very engaging and wonderful to have as a server.
The atmosphere was quaint, fun and lively.
The wine pairing with our meal, as suggested by the server was perfect. My wife had a shrimp and lobster roll that she found to be delicious. The dish came with a potato salad and a green salad. My wife preferred the lobster and shrimp with the green salad more than the potato salad.
I had a delicious tomato based cod and salmon soup. The card and salmon really surprised me, and it was truly a soup and not a chowder. It was accompanied with thin slices of baguettes that the menu referred to as croutons. The mayonnaise rouille with a hint of saffron was delicious, but I didn’t find it necessary with the meal. The side dish of cheese I think was Gruyere and it went so nicely in the soup.

Read moreThe service of this restaurant is horrible. We made a reservation online, when we waited at the door the waiter ignored us and seated the French speaking customers behind us first. When we try to order the waiter saw us waving, told us to wait and never came back to us. We had to call him over again. He speaks english, but we can definitely felt being treated differently from the French speaking customers. The waiter will check on other French speaking customers and chat with them. We were ignored the whole time at the corner. The food tasted pretty good but the portion of the food is small and expensive. The octopus was very tiny and it cost over $20. We don’t recommend this...
