A&W Canada — Restaurant in Port Coquitlam

Oh my goodness! We went last night to this particular location on our way out to mission, because we were told that they carry the milkshakes that my husband loves. We had already ordered and received our order when we were finally told that the milkshakes weren't available, when that was the whole reason we went in the first place! If they had told us when we were ordering we would have turned around and walked out. Not to mention we have been trying to avoid A&W in general as they are not sourcing Canadian meat and their prices have gone up. But I didn't realize how much they had jacked up their prices until after I ordered and realized that the upgrade to onion rings was $6 more for a meal! And $4 more for a meal with fries! But for the jacked up prices the quality hasn't really gone up, and we payed just under $40 dollars for 2 meals and 4 buddy burgers! The onion rings were sadly battered and the baskets they put the fries and onion rings in are fairly small!! And even McDonalds knows how to make a basic burger which includes putting sauces only on one side of the burger! My daughter's buddy burger kept falling apart because they had so much sauce on it. Never going to A&W again. This was the last straw. We would much rather go to McDonalds or Wendy's where the price for a meal is no more than $10 and at least I know I'm supporting Canadian chicken and beef farmers! It's a real disappointment when just 7 years ago A&W was our favourite quick burger joint. Wish I could...

Asked about prices for certain items Was told only 0.60. Cents Then when I got to window the price was over a $4 dollar difference- Not exactly as previous person said So lapis for more than I expected to just get the food n continue on my way However-still had to wait for my food And when I received all of the food The fries were not even like warm- Great service all around- ———

Won’t be going back to the a&w Absolutely mesmerized about the lack of communication between the employees And the fact that I asked when I drive up to the window about the price And the other person said no you are correct That’s not the price the other person said it was

Oppprtunity for improvement-

After ordering and paying for a medium coffee "re-fill" (providong my own cup), they made it in a paper cup and put a plastic lid on it. When it was handed to me I said this was supoosed to be a re-fill, specifically to avoid making unnecessary garbage. They responded that they dont pour into customers cups.

This is their policy and I respect their choice to set that, but tell me when I'm ordering, not after the fact.

Also, understanding I wanted a re-fill, they could have handed me the cup wity no lid to pour myself.

Although it seems minor its important to me and I recognize we vote with our dollars. I try to make environmentally concious choices and want to see the businesses I support doing the same, not negating those choices.
