Five Guys — Restaurant in Port Coquitlam

Went for the first time yesterday. Not impressed much. The company has a great team of professional Brand marketers working for them! I am reminded of a bad movie that flashes so much hype in the advertising then delivers mediocrity when I get there.This is what Five Guys is like. Free peanuts, its all about hype American style to keep you off track with hey free peanuts! Yes there were lots of fries but they were soggy. Nothing about the burger was good. I had the little burger with cheese, fried onions, pickles, BBQ sauce, and bacon. SO The bun was mushy, the onions were not sauteed enough they were still crunchy without that nice sauteed flavor and not enough, the cheese had not melted into the burger and was cold, I did not taste any BBQ sauce at all, it was there I looked! Too expensive for what they are serving. The hype is just all that, hype, McD is much better. A few days ago we had dinner at the White Spot Restaurant and guess what our bill was the same amount, except we had endless wonderful fries, coleslaw and drinks all on PLATE! At the same price as five Guys burgers.

The staff were really nice, friendly and helpful, kudos to them!

I have always wanted to go to Five Guys Burgers and Fries ever since it opened in Port Coquitlam near Walmart, but I just never had the chance until last Sunday. My daughters and I wanted a sit down meal to have appies at Red Robin, but it was a 25 minute wait! So we ended up here. My first question is, what's with the bulk peanuts? I went to the website to see what the significance was, but there was nothing. So if you have a peanut allergy, be warned! They also use peanut oil in their cooking. Any way, we ordered two large fries between the 4 of us! They say "bag fries" are the best! Well, there was a whole bunch and we could barely eat it all! I ordered the "Little Cheeseburger", and I added some free toppings. There were so many to choose from! Well worth the price if you decide to put the works on your burger! The "Hamburger" was two patties. My other daughter also ordered a grilled cheese. It looked really cheesy and yummy! We got our sit down dinner at a fast food place and were surprised at how good the food was. But what's with the bulk peanuts? Oh, I see free peanuts while you wait! ...

I've ate at a different location before, so I love the food. But the staff at this location in maple ridge was terrrrrible! Before ordering there was a claw machine which piqued my interest. There were several signs which indicate you can play cheap at $1. But at the slot where you put money in there was one where $2(toonies) were accepted. So I inserted a toonie in. And it ate my coin! I complained at the staff, and she came over and told me That I'm supposed to put a loonie in. I said if I wanted to play once I would. But from experience I always had to put in several times. She said I can't do anything about it. And left... I kicked the machine and she said she was going to call the cops. I said I wanted to speak with the manager and she told me to leave. So I left... I am extremely dissatisfied with the way she talked to me and dealing with the situation. I ate as subway next door instead, and I enjoyed my meal there! The prices were far more reasonable, and their customer service was far more understanding. Shame on this locations...
