TL:DR: Overpriced, bland, clean. Click to read the rest: I'm from East Vancouver originally, so my taste buds are used to a certain flavour. This pho had none. I ordered the Pho Dat Biet with a side order of spring rolls. Right when the noodles came I knew it wasn't going to be great. The color of the broth was too deep, and it seemed to be lacking in onions and other small ingredients. I normally NEVER mix sauces with the soup but this time I had to. The soup itself lacked the beef flavour that it should. The spring roll came and I was surprised by the size: thick and longer than normal. It wasn't the coveted "bumpy" exterior style of spring roll but it was alright. Location was clean, or as clean as a pho restaurant could be. Decent location. Pricing is a huge factor in why they received the reading they did. Charging an extra $1-$2 for a meal that tastes worse of isn't acceptable to me. Found to have to keep looking around to find the best pho restaurant in Port Coquitlam.

I wanted to give this place a try and was hoping it would be at least decent but it was horrible. I would give it negative 5 if I could. Service, not existent. One lady was busy playing with a baby…and when we flagged the guy to come and take our order, we got so much attitude. Food, horrible. Do not go here if you want flavourful, authentic Vietnamese food. We ordered a large everything Pho, lemongrass chicken and shrimp/pork fried wontons. The portions were ok but there was NO flavour. Like zero. The soup was cold and watered down and the chicken was cold and believe me when I tell you, it had NO taste!! The wontons were overpriced and no sight of shrimp- only pork and also had zero taste: not even salt. There was no garlic chilli pepper oil on the table like every other Vietnamese restaurant… and when we asked for some, we got attitude and a tablespoon full. Food safety- they served boiling HOT tea in a plastic container. Never going back.

First pho takeout since covid started and it was just so-so. Ordering via phone is tough because there is no menu so you have to have an idea of what you want. That being said, the person on the phone was helpful and patient as I explained what I wanted and the order came out to what I expected. When picking up the food I saw the most staff were wearing masks but not the cashier - I guess it was so he could talk. The food itself was ok. Not pretty like you would get during an eat in but I've had a lot of take out pho and this was underwhelming. The spring rolls were good but overly oily. The meat quantity was good and the texture was tender. I felt the amount of noodles was small and the overall flavor was what one would expect for fast food. I'd give this a 3.5 star as it was good but although it wasn't the worst pho I've had, it was far from the best especially at that price and don't feel it's worth rounding to a 4 star.

I've been here a few times and each time the service seems to get worse. The last time my mom and myself ordered noodle bowls, which really how hard is it to get the order wrong? Our orders came, my mom's order was missing one meat component and when we tried calling a waiter over no one came over to help, so we went to the front desk only to be given attitude. A very rude waiter came over with our bill to look at what we were given. Not quite sure what she muttered under her breath only that I could tell she was not interested in fixing the mistake and that we as customers did not matter. SO after a few minutes of looking over our bill, another waitress came over with the forgotten meat component from our order in a small bowl. Now keep in mind it was COLD AS A ROCK and not even somewhat warm. So we brought to their attention yet again... Only to have it brought back in the same bowl except this time with soup in the bowl and with an explanation that it was already cooked. Cooked or not... shouldn't it have been brought out as it would have been served? Rather than stone cold in a just as cold bowl.

Also on the same night, my sister joined us a few minutes later after we had been served. They saw her walk in and she said to the waitress who greeted her that she was with us. No one thought to bring her a menu or ask if she wanted one. When I asked the waitress who was wiping up the table behind me if I could get a menu for my sister. She raised her hand up at in IN MY FACE as to say wait this is not my problem. And with quite a bit of rudeness in her tone of voice said she would get one of the other waitresses to do it. Then proceeded to yell across the room for a waitress who was in the process of serving another customer to bring us a menu.

Will I go back? No... Never... They can offer me a years worth of free meals and I still will not go back. The Pho restaurant by Costco is better by leaps and bounds....

Pho 51 is my go to Vietnamese Restaurant mostly because I live nearby. I have ordered food, both for dine-in and for take-out, numerous amounts of times. That being said, I will be giving a review of my restaurant experience as a whole. Generally, the restaurant gives big portions and when done right, I can say that Pho 51 is my preferred Vietnamese Restaurant in all of the Tri-Cities. Of the many things I’ve tried there, my go to choices are an iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, spring rolls, and either the rare beef and tendon pho or the grilled lemongrass chicken. First of all, you can’t go wrong with Vietnamese coffee. Vietnamese coffee has the perfect balance of strong, sweet, and creamy. In addition, the spring rolls have always been crispy and delicious along with the fish sauce for dipping. The one downside to Pho 51 in my opinion is their consistency. The pho broth is usually hearty, flavorful, beefy, and clear. However, there were multiple times where the pho broth was extremely watery and bland. My guess would be that the kitchen staff probably refilled the broth on a rolling boil with water and then served it to us without letting the broth simmer and the flavor develop for a sufficient duration of time. On the other hand, the seasoning of the lemongrass chicken can sometimes be spot on, but other times, it too can be bland. Overall, Pho 51 is a great restaurant, but I guess when revisiting a restaurant many times, you are bound to see...

Where do I begin. First entered the restaurant with my friend to sit down and eat , when we were told we had to order b4 we sat down and also pay b4 we sat down. I had only $ 5 cash on me so I paid $20 by debit for my meal when it asked me for a tip? Well I tip according to the food and the service how am I to tip when I haven't even sat down yet. I tip between 20% - 50 % depending on service. However I tipped $5 cash as that all the cash I had. Come To find out at the end of the meal when I asked for take out container as I ate only half my chicken vermicelli, that I needed to now pay .30 for a take out container ??? I had no cash as I gave all my cash for the tip in advance lol lol ...so uhmm yah if my friend didn't have .30 cents on her what would have happened would I have not been allowed to take the rest of my food home ?? Or maybe he should have just taken it out of my tip then As no one is going to put .30 on a debit or credit card . Maybe Pho 51 when u tell your customers they have to pre pay especially when we use debit or credit let us know we can't take home our left over meal unless we pay. 30 .... I will never go back there this pre system is retarded and frustrating to say the least. It is a sit down restaurant or use to be . For anyone who loves Vietnamese the place on prairie and coast meridian is delicious way cheaper and u get free take out containers imagine that being able to take home left over food without...
