DO NOT ORDER CAKES FROM HERE!!!!!! If there was an option to give zero stars that’s exactly what I would give. We were told that if we needed to place an order for a cake we need to give them 2 days to make it. We gave them 3 days to make the cake. We called in and talked to them over the phone to confirm that they understood what we wanted 2 days in a row, as we were hosting a party with over 50 people. For our order we simply wanted more of the fudge filling instead of the chocolate ice cream at the bottom of the cake. We spoke to the manager, Mandy (who also happens to be the owners’ wife) ,on two different days to confirm they knew exactly what we wanted. Mandy said that she understood the order repeated back to us and told us she will send instructions to the cake maker of this location. The day of the party, while cutting the cake in front of all of our guests, we discovered that what they had given us was nothing but plain vanilla ice cream. There was no filling, no fudge and no cookie pieces in the cake. It was just PLAIN VANILLA ICE CREAM in the shape of a cake. When we took the cake back to this location, the workers called Mandy, the manager/ owners wife, and had her speak with us over the phone. She told us that we could come in the following day and pick up the cake we originally ordered. As we had a party going while we were at Dairy Queen talking to Mandy, we explained to her that we needed a cake to take back to the birthday party that was happening that very moment. When we told her this, she told us to either take the vanilla ice cream that they called a “cake” or to purchase a new one. We had already paid for our custom order cake, and we said we ere not going to pay another $40 for a cake because of the ‘communication error’ that was made by Mandy and the cake maker. This mistake had nothing to do with us, Mandy said that she understood what we wanted but admitted to fail to properly instruct the cake maker. If an error is made on their part, why should we pay for it? When we told Mandy that we are not going to pay for another cake and that we don’t want the vanilla ice cream, she became extremely rude and started yelling at us as if it were our fault that they made the cake wrong. After she finished yelling at us, we asked to speak with the owner, Sukh or Sukhi (can’t quite remember which was his name). After talking to the owner and explaining our dilemma, he told us to buy another cake as he did not want to lose money giving us a free cake for our party that was presently going on. During this conversation he told us that Mandy, the “manager” is his wife and she will not be coming in the next day to make our cake, when Mandy had said she would. He told us to come in on the following Monday ( 2 DAYS AFTER OUR PARTY) to pick up the cake we had originally ordered. The owner was extremely rude and very ill mannered. My family and all the guests that attended our party will NEVER ever visit this location every again!!!
A word of advice for Sukh and Mandy, learn some manners and customer service. Your customers shouldn’t have to compensate for YOUR...
Read moreWell, the food and treats are pretty standard recipe and like most of the other locations. The restaurant is newer and clean. But I've never been served by anyone with a smile or personality even when I kill them with kindness.
This location is also significantly more expensive than the other franchise in poco. For example, add toppings are almost 2$ each, where as Shaughnessy is 69 cents. Also, when u order a blizzard here, it's not that full and there isn't that much mixins. Shaughnessy puts on the sundae lids as they're filled to over the top, and bursting with mix ins. Everything on the menu at this location is pricier. For whatever reason im not sure. Yes, the restaurant is newer than Shaughnessy, but the Shaughnessy location also has amazing staff. Everyone is always smiling and helpful and kind....even right at closing and when busy. They employ a lot of neighborhood youth which is nice too.
I also ordered from Uber once at this location. The order was confirmed but when the Uber driver went to pick it up, they had closed early. It was actually a nightmare because when I contacted Uber they made me wait until the posted closing time and then 35 minutes past (to be sure the delivery didn't come). By that time it was too late to reorder elsewhere.
I will go here if it's my only choice but if I have to travel a bit further to go to Shaughnessy or the one on Lougheed by Ikea, or even port...
Read moreThis location is terrible depending on who is working. The women working the cash and treat sections clearly aren't interested in doing a good job. When I ordered a $9.43 large skor blizzard with extra skor and they confer in a different language about my order, I know it's going to be pitiful. I watched them make it with only 3 scoops of skor candy which cannot be enough candy for a large with paid extra topping. On top of that the ice cream was runny and didn't even make it to the top of the cup, let alone hold a stiff peak above the lip like most every other DQ I've been to. I had to put it in the freezer when I got home (2 blocks away) for more than 30 minutes to make it edible. I was so excited to have DQ location close to the house when they first opened but every time I've been here (probably 6-8 times over 2 years) I've been disappointed more than satisfied. If this is a family business, someone needs to tell them it's to their benefit to put out good quality food and using the appropriate quantities of food. They'll get more business if their food is good than if everyone knows they cheat you on quantity. Honestly going forward, it's worth driving much farther away to get better quality. For nearly $10, today's treat was definitely...
