Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Place is very cozy and I like how it's situated in a residential neighbourhood. I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I did enjoy the latte and one of their baked goods that we had. The staff were also very friendly.
Perhaps it was just the time of day that my girlfriend and I went or maybe they were having an off day, but it seemed like they were running behind on cleaning and top-ups.
We ordered coffee and they told us they ran out of their regular coffee mugs so they gave us different ones. Not a big deal, but something to point out.
We then went to find a seat and although a lot of tables were empty, they hadn't been cleaned. They had a trolly on the side by the door for people to out their dirty mugs and plates on which was overflowing.
They had a water station on the side. When we went to grab waters they were out of cups so we had to go ask for some.
When we got our coffee I also asked for hot lemon water but they said they didn't have lemons. Not sure if this is usual but I found it a little strange that a coffee shop didn't have lemons. Anyways not a big deal, just worth pointing out.
I don't think a cafe should every use "being busy" as an excuse for uncleanliness or for not being able to stock up. Perhaps they could hire more staff during the busy hours dedicated to upkeep.
That being said I did like the general atmosphere and the...
Read moreAlthough service came with a smile, there really wasn't much service at all. I find it off-putting when spending over $3.50 for a simple drip coffee to then be faced with a touch-screen terminal and asked to go through the rigamarole of a multiple choice option of tipping, or not, before tap-payig. First of all, asking for a tip before services are rendered, to me, is repugnant...for 1) I had a 30 second exchange of words for a $3.50 drip coffee, for 2) it's touch-screen and tap-pay, no cash exchanged, no change calculated back, and 3) the young lady who took my order immediately went back to jibber-jabbering with another young lady behind the counter, both of whom seemed to be doing nothing in particular, especially not getting me the coffee I was just asked to tip them for. Service-wise, the place is terrible, but when a third young lady, from behind the espresso bar, did eventually present my simple drip coffee to go, the brew itself...

The food was fantastic and the coffee was great! Unfortunately, the whole experience was marred by the fact that they have a pretty unfriendly wifi policy: you get a ticket with a password that allows for one hour of wifi at a time. It's pretty obnoxious, given the fact that even the worst cafés I've been to tend to allow for free unlimited wifi for the most part. If I had known, perhaps I would have bought my snacks and coffee as separate orders, but I only found out after paying. Instead, I left after an hour to find another place.
I would go back for the food and coffee! But... I definitely would not go back to get work done, which is unfortunate, because most of my time at cafés is...
