We only just recently discovered GRIT and have been visiting a few times in the last two weeks. The first time we were in, we liked the coffee and the space so much that we bought one of their super cute tote bags. This morning, I thought it would be nice to wear the bag when we went for coffee there, as a point of pride in supporting them, but as we were leaving after our stay the barista ran out after us and asked if we were planning to pay for it...when I had walked in the door wearing the bag. It's not a super nice feeling to be accused of stealing something when you'd purchased it precisely TO support local business. :/ I would suggest to the management installing a security tag system or keeping merchandise behind the counter to avoid future situations like this from occurring. While I totally understand the need to stay on top of theft (every dollar counts in a small business), you'll risk losing loyal (non-stealing!) customers if you run out into the street after them launching those kinds of accusations. Everything else at GRIT is 5/5 stars, and I'm really only posting this in the hopes that management sees it and improves this one issue to keep their amazing cafe and studio going strong for...
Read moreI was just here taking my coffee for a take out. But probably my last time to visit.
I've been a customer from 2019. The place really tries to keep up entertaining visitors by switching up the space once in a while. The cafe and interior is well organized and cute. Very much considerable to the local market.
However, my biggest disappointment happened today. I brought my own personal mug for 12oz iced latte.
Eversince this year, I've been noticing the price increase little by little. The hot 12oz latte was priced to be 4.75 while the iced one was 6.25 (no size indicated). The cashier asked what size I wanted for mine and I asked 12oz with regular milk. Despite I had let the cashier know for the sizing, I was still charged for 6.25 + tax + tip which came to be 7.21. I asked why there's such difference with the pricing. And these were the reasoning: ¹ice costs; ²iced drinks are to be 20oz.
When I told the barista (with the cashier beside her) this needed to be 12oz for the mug fits only up to 16oz. She replied with simple 'oh...'
Please keep your price consistent and size indicated...
Read moreGrit has a great concept. Cute and unique esthetic. However, it falls short. The avocado toast wasn't seasoned, the egg was over cooked, you could see grey in the yolk. It needed some flavour even a sprinkling of truffled sea salt or switching the finishing oil to a garlic infused olive oil with flaked salt on top, would have saved this flavourless $11 toast. The caramel bomb I had was the texture of over cooked fudge, it was graining and ridiculously sweet and rich. Their lavender latte was absolutely delicious, I have no critiques on that, they make a killer latte. I probably won't be back, I like places whose food game is as strong as their coffee game so I can sit and enjoy the atmosphere, if I can only grab coffee and still have to get food somewhere else, it's...
