Used to come here for large family dinners. Have spent upwards of $2,000-$3,000 easily over the years. Recently had the worst chain of experiences. First time, ok, laugh it off. Second time, ok... Today we just had a 15 person gathering. The staff were very rude and gave no attention to either of our tables. When we tried to make eye contact they would look away. They were busy but no need to make us wait 45 minutes to order. When we did order they were very very curt and service was basically non-existant.
They got our order wrong and told us we couldn't have Peking duck because they were too busy. Ok fine. Most disjointed service for 2+ hours. When I paid card I didn't add tip because we were going to pay cash tip at the table. But then the gentleman kept insisting that we pay tip, where is the tip. Then he started nosing around the tables looking for tip, asking our elderly guests why didn't we tip.
That did it. Decided we wouldn't give a tip based on this most horrible public display of poor attitude. He then had the nerve to tell me they were busy, that I was being disrespectful for not paying tip. Really. So then I told him tip is discretionary and he said don't come back.
So whereas I agree with others that the food is good, the attitude of this particular staff member (owner?) was the worst. And since he said don't come back... c'est la vie. And I even feel bad that we didn't tip but it's the...
Read moreMy husband and I have been eating at Lougheed Wonton since years before their move to Port Moody, though not since covid. The food today was as wonderful as always, with many interesting choices available for the combo dinners offered on the pink insert. However, today the service was not up to standard. For example, the waitress who took our order for the 4-dish meal was in a rush and when I asked what the soup choices were, she only mentioned Wonton and chicken corn. When I asked what the ”soup of the day" was, she just said "Chinese vegetables " and walked away. I went to the front desk and asked again, and the very helpful lady there said "bitter melon, I'll show you," and led me to the back to see their usual meat broth with melon and carrots. The soup and other dishes were fine. But instead of desert, the hurried waitress dropped a plate of cut up oranges on the table. When we asked about the pudding (they always used to offer a choice of mango pudding or red bean soup), she simply said "sold out." Disappointed, we ate the oranges. But when we were on our way out, I noticed that everyone at the adjacent table had just received a bowel of red bean soup. This was never offered to us. 😕 So I guess the moral of the story is, if the restaurant is busy, you need to be very specific in asking for information from the...
Read moreFood was ok, but service was the worst. Very, and I do mean Very (with a capital V) unfriendly staff. We are family of four, mentioned to the staff in the beginning we would be ordering lots of seafood so would like bigger table, they said all tables were booked, despite the place been empty, so we got cramped into a four seater table. When the food started coming they realized there weren't enough space to put all the food, finally they were willing to move us to bigger table (when we had already started eating, it was such a hassle moving all our dishes). During the meal we had to keep asking for water and tea refill, never once had any server check on how we were doing. At the end of our meal, we asked to pack the remaining food home, the server came and drop off couple styrofoam boxes and plastic bags on our table and left.... are we suppose to pack the food ourself??? In any case we packed the food ourself. Then my father went to pay the bill, it was close to $300 (we were celebrating and decide to splurge a little), despite barely existence service, my dad gave a 5% tip, the lady at the counter said we need to tip minimum 15%!! Seriously??!! Unfriendly server + bad attitude + non-existing service = more than 15%?? They really need to rethink how they are treating...
