My gf never been to a rotating restaurant before so I brought her here. The view is great, the rotating speed is actually slower than other rotating restaurants that I’ve been to. I only came for the food honestly.
First to the restaurant, it was odd that the dining table has a paper instead of usual table cloths?
The food is 6/10 honestly. The entree, we got duck foie gras and cerf(venison) gravlax. The entree is 7.5/10 or 8/10 is a little bit salty but they have something sweet to accompany it very well. It definitely need to have something better to take it 8/10 or 9/10
We got the lamb rack. That one was honestly a disappointment. The vegetables are just vegetables. nothing much hard to make it at home. Not inspiring. They give the root of the fennel and serve it that way… like really? The lamb is chewy, hard to bite. To solve this problem, many restaurants will cook it for longer time so that it becomes more tender and easier to bite. Easily 5/10, the only saving grace is the smashed white beans. Those are goods
The dessert, we got the shortbread 7/10. Usually problem with shortbread that it is hard and dry, they accompany it with ice cream and haskap berry which is the right thing to do. But pretty much that’s it? It feels like need something more to make it better than homemade equivalent. This is something I made at home before. With the exception of the orange jam/stuff that laid all over the plate. The ice cream also taste like one of the store bought ice cream.
To dine in a place for slightly worse or better home cook meal feels not worth it. Avoid this if you’re looking for good food.
The autumn menu looks much better than summer menu. The autumn menu looks way different and more inspiring. And I was thinking those are the stuff that they gonna serve🥲
Between KL rotating restaurant and this, I will put KL rotating restaurant over this. KL’s rotating restaurant are larger and they’re buffet with many different kind of food. And actually taste very good. You can walk around everywhere and more free.
Edit: there are many better restaurants that worth more of your money in Ville de Quebec. I will say avoid this
Edit2: forgot to mention, the service is good! Don’t worry on...
Read moreWe made reservations months ago and were looking forward to a great experience! Again, “12 year olds” on the hostess stand who had little interest in us as customers. We wanted to wash up before eating, asked where the “toilets” were and they barely understood even after miming it. They then pointed to steep stairs down a flight; I explained I had 2 total knees and a total hip and couldn’t do those stairs; they shrugged and motioned we could go to the lobby. Um, that’s 28 floors down; ok never mind. We were seated, a waiter dropped off water and menus and there we sat. And sat and sat and sat! I watched him chatting up a female employee for at least 15 minutes never looking our way. Oh right, forgot to mention the restaurant just opened and we were his only table. He finally came over for our drink order; we told him and he started to rush away. He never told us his name but I called out that we had a few questions. He came back, we asked about appetizers…we don’t have any was his reply although the menu said “inspired appetizers”. We asked about the soup of the day and were told what it was. Then asked if they had Caesar salads…he taps the menu and says this is the menu. Not I’m sorry but no or anything other than a curt reply. It felt like he was in a hurry to resume his chat? He appeared to be full of himself! We said ok, thanks but no thanks; we are not staying! He said ok. I said quietly to him as we left, in the future I suggest you don’t chat up fellow workers before you take care of customers. He said ok. Totally devalued as customers, bougie employees who clearly did not care about customer service. So we left and went to Va Bene; fabulous friendly staff and the...
Read moreEdit - down to 1 star from 2 The comment from the restaurant is really disappointing. I'm not suggesting they have discrimination. The service was poor because we understand French language (although we used English to communicate). it was obvious that we even raised our hands and waved to our waiter a couple of times, we were ignored. On top of that, they didn't take care of guest's food intolerance and lead to very bad food reaction.
The place is packed during brunch hours. I'd recommend making reservations days prior to the visit. The view and ambience was great. It took about an hour for the whole deck to turn 1 round. The brunch options were great. However, the food and drink were underwhelming. The smoke salmon was way too salty. The service was horrible to non French speaking guests. It was obvious that our waiter was much more welcoming to the French speaking guests around us while ignoring us 80% of the time. I had food intolerance and asked to have all the sauce and salad dressings on the side. They only put the hollandaise a side, but still served the fully dressed salad. I had really bad reaction to the salad dressings afterwards. It was painfu, caused me headache and swollen tongue. lt took me a couple hours to recover. We also had steak and eggs. He didn't even ask us how we would like our steak. The coffee and tea were cheap and awful. The fruit bowl was soaked in syrup. Everything was either too salty or too sweet. It kinda put the whole experience a shame. The place was beautiful. But I was expecting a much better food quality...
