Although the food was delicious, I didn't have the most pleasant time at Faite à l'os. We were forced to order more food than we wanted and coerced to give a certain amount of the tip.
After reading great reviews online, we tried making a reservation, but they were fully booked. The person on the phone offered to get my phone number and called me the following day, offering a table after a cancellation, which was great.
We got to the restaurant early and waited by the door until our reservation time. When coming in, we immediately noticed the music was too loud, making it impossible to keep a conversation with the people at our table.
We were a group of five ordering four plates (because my mom doesn't eat much and wanted to share with my dad), and that's when the waiter interrupted us, saying that we were obligated to order one plate per person. Most of us weren’t drinking, which made the waiter even more unsettling. Finally, we ordered one of each option on the menu, and the food was terrific. Probably one of the best we had during our trip.
When paying the bill, even though we were not in contempt with the service we received, I decided to tip the waiter 10%. When he realized that, he stopped me, saying that the minimum I was allowed to tip was 15% and told me he would enter that amount in the machine for me unless I wanted to tip more.
That was outrageous, seeing that the tip is to be privately and personally determined by the customer as an evaluation of the service offered by the server and the establishment. That being said, I could have chosen any value from 0 to 100, and nobody is at liberty to interfere in my decision. At the end of the night, we all felt uncomfortable and...
Read moreIf you're in Quebec City and craving tender brisket and delicious ribs, “Faites à l’os” is the place to be. The meats are smoked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone tender. The brisket is especially noteworthy, with just the right amount of bark and melt-in-your-mouth texture. One tip: if you’ve got a big appetite, go for the BBQ platter for two—even if you're solo—and skip the sides. You’ll get generous portions of their best cuts, and it’s well worth it. The sides are good, but the real star is the meat. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, and the staff are excellent—friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food. Service is quick without feeling rushed, and they’re happy to offer recommendations. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, “Faites à l’os” delivers an authentic BBQ experience that’s hard to beat. Bring your appetite and prepare to leave...
Read moreJust had dinner at this place (literally just a few hours ago) and it was wonderful. Greeted and seated by Emanuel, who also took our drink order and Alexander took our meal order. This place has a comfortable atmosphere with very friendly team of representatives and the experience just gets better with every bite. My friend and I shared a combo plate for 2 which brought brisket, ribs and chicken with potato salad and a cabbage Cole slaw. Food was great...served hot to the table. Everything was fall off the bone tender and moist and flavorful. Food was well seasoned but not overpowering of the respective cuts of meat. This is not a sweet Bbq but more of a savoury Bbq and that is what I enjoyed the most. Great food and...
