We came here on our first night in Quebec City. It’s located in the art district and is a quaint little restaurant that has been open for over 30 years. Mrs. Fam is the owner and we had the pleasure of chatting with her quite a bit when we dined in her establishment. She told us about her schooling in Europe and how she ended up owning 5 restaurants - she has since sold 3. If you’re expecting to go there and be left alone, this may not be the place for you. When we went it was quiet and we loved every minute listening to Mrs. Fam’s stories. She is so friendly and she has led quite an interesting life. Back to the food - It doesn’t contain any MSG and is cooked in very minimal oil. The pad Thai has skinnier noodles than the usual which is a nice change. The teriyaki chicken was just perfect! If you have room for dessert try their famous fried pineapple with a homemade sauce. It sounds a little bizarre but it was to die for. It was not greasy or oily, the batter was flavourful and the sauce was like a butterscotch.

Food is really good. We ate hear on our first night visiting from Ottawa and I’m very glad we did. The restaurant is cozy and a offers a beautiful window view of the old streets outside. The food is cooked without excess oils and No MSG so you can indulge and still feel wonderful the next day. The owner Fam is from Vietnam and lived many years in France before coming to Canada. She’s a wonderful hostess. She’s owned the restaurant for 31 years. There’s pictures on the wall of her with former Prime Ministers, Premiers, and Mayors who have all visited her restaurant. We had the Pad Thai and Teriyaki Chicken. They make their pad Thai with thinner noodles which I loved. The soup was also delicious. Desert options were Vanilla Cake, Carrot Cake, and their speciality a fried pineapple round that looks like a donut drizzled in homemade maple sauce.

They should just put a sign and say no entering of Chinese people that can’t speak French. They obviously did not feel like serving us. We sat in our spot for 30 mins without water, cutlery or anyone coming to take our order. The restaurant was not even busy. The Asian-looking old-man owner would walk over and give us a stare, before going off to help the Caucasian couple that were seated beside us who happened to came later than us. I look at the waiter and told him we are ready to order, and the waiter responded “wait”. We took off for good and ate at the restaurant beside them, which was very good. I lived in Canada for most of my life. It’s sad, to see these Asian white worshippers. We were here for a weekend. Everyone else were very friendly.

FOOD POISONING: avoid this establishment like the plague - it is a horrible excuse for a restaurant, and almost ALL the positive reviews here are probably either fake or were posted by customers being pressured by the narcissistic owner. After an exhaustive search for non-French restaurants in Quebec's lower town district, we chose this tourist trap -- bad mistake! While the waitress was polite (didn't speak English, however), the owner is a total swindler. We waited for 5-10 minutes to be seated while waiting for her to finish scribbling stuff down on paper. She finally looked up after having ignored us, and told to sit down on the patio, beckoning rudely. The spring roll appetizers were mediocre, and, unfortunately, the best part of my meal. Once the entree came out (chicken curry), I took one bite and almost gagged, having to spit out the chicken in my napkin. It was, at the very least, old, spoiled chicken, and judging by the texture, was partially raw as well. It had a rubbery, tough feel to it, and tasted like it came straight out of someone's rear end (luckily I can only surmise what that tastes like). We called the owner over and explained that the chicken was bad -- adding insult to an already poorly made, cheap dish (sauce was bland, little to no vegetables, and a stingy single scoop of old rice). She repeatedly denied that it was bad, got defensive, and said that they just received the chicken that morning. Whether she was telling the truth, I don't know (their supplier could be bad), however, the manner in which she dealt with my customer complaint was grossly unacceptable. She offered no alternative to this dish, and still stuck us with the bill (every else's meal at our table was also extremely sub-par). I immediately started to feel ill, and had a stomach ache all day, while having classic raw-chicken symptoms for the next 24 hours. This place is obviously a nefarious business only existing to swindle desperate and naive tourists out of a LOT of money for a garbage meal (ours was $54 for 3 dishes). They know they'll never see these tourists again, so why should they care about customer loyalty? They're smart enough not to, so don't fall prey to their schemes. I also noticed another young waitress -- the owner's daughter -- trying to suck up (for a big tip?) to older male customers by promiscuously placing her hands on their back/shoulders and caressing their necks, while also making clearly disingenuous "at-first-glance-engaging" conversation with other families about where they were from, etc. The whole place...

Unfortunately you are getting this review not because of your food but because of the entitles waitress today. The owner lady was extremely kind and out going. We went back and forth and decided to go back. Our order was taken by an older lady (same one that welcomed us). She brought us our drinks and starter. Our soup was brought out by a entitled server who felt she was our waitress. The main course was brought out by a third employee. After our meal, the entitled server asked how we were paying. I said debit. My partner got up to use the bathroom and I got up shortly after to pay- I had to pay at the counter because the wireless debit machine was broken. The elderly lady took my debit payment and as I was waiting for the bathroom ( it’s a one at a time type deal) the person who thought she was a waitress looked at the debit slip and started berating me that I did not leave a tip and how she only made $2 an hour. Unbeknownst to her, We tip in cash and not on the card (to make sure it does go to the server) and we’re going to leave a tip (greater than the 12% she demanded by the way) and my partner was going to return to the table to grab his can of pop and leave the tip as he had cash and I did not. I would avoid this place in the future simply because of this trash act...

Feels like we were scammed. It just rained so we decided to go into this resto but our mistake for not checking the reviews first. The food was NOT HOT it feels like it's microwaved. The lady just keep on repeating her story of 35 yrs and so on while she said something abt the appetizer (which we did not order) She said she will GIVE spring roll so we have something while we wait for the food to be served and when we asked if it is complimentary she just answered it's an appetizer which left us felt that something is off already. We're a group of 11 and we don't mind spending $90 for an appetizer if it's something we ORDERED. We didn't like the server's etiquette as she keeps on peeking while we process the payment. The review here which saya it felt like there's a TIP ON TOP OF A TIP is true. We spent almost $500 for a food that does not even make you full and we felt that Foodcourt food is way way better. Also they took out the plates as soon as they saw you don't hold your utensils even if you're not done - done with your food yet. Very bad experience. Would...
