Edit: changing my review to 0. Owner can't handle bad reviews. Others less scathing than mine are verbally abused. Does mine deserve it? Yeah mine comes off strong. But he cant handle criticism. Even if people claim bad experiences. He acuses a good number of bad reviews of lying. So while I originally thought the service was great, his personality is awful. Sorry. But not everyone who gives your place 0/5 is lying. And its not a good look to call everyone you don't like a liar. I will be eating somewhere else, thank you. You dont need to tell me. Also big rolls is not a new concept. If anything youre being less original since that's all regina does.
Oh he also seems to think that customers are dipshits and can't tell fresh food apart from garbage. So. Yeah. Idk if you want to be treated like that, go for it. But he thinks he knows better.
Obnoxious portions. old, poor quality fish. Weak fried food. Quantity over quality. The food is an excellent photo op thanks to their amazing plating and remarkable atmosphere. But most of it is largely inedible.
The rolls are too large, which is sad because I'd hoped this place would distinguish themselves from the trend so many cheap sushi restaurants fall into. Im shocked that their dynamite roll is the size of a puck. Literally.
If you enjoy eating hockey pucks, you will enjoy this place.
Rice isn't seasoned well.
This place does entrees very well. Their curry is excellent and one of a kind for regina.
This place does awful at sushi, which should be their flagship
Tempura is probably the best in the city.
Weak karaage chicken
I love the portions they serve with nigiri/sashimi. But, the fish is of an awful quality. If you like your tuna gray, you will like their tuna.
Chops grill has fresher tuna as their tataki dish than this place. Which again is tragic. Tuna should be a delightful red.
None of their nigiri options taste remotely decent, except for the salmon. Its a matter of freshness. I love nigiri. Theirs is not good.
Really sad that wann and tipsy samurai remain the only decent places for realistic portions and quality control.
This place needs to cut down the size of their rolls. Drop 3/4ths of the menu. And import decent fish that they can sell at a rapid pace.
Pick a theme, basically.
Fried foods, Tempura and sushi? Works
Korean dishes? Works
Fried foods, sushi, korean dishes, and also we do ramen, and 4 kinds of gyoza, and every kind of nigiri, and 38 different sushi flavors and Tempura and bentos and an entire western menu, fries, burgers and wings?
That doesn't work.
The people enamored by the portions here don't know what fresh is. You can get fresher fish at hachi sushi
Scale things back. Focus on quality. There's no good sushi restaurants in regina. You have the best atmosphere. Make it better. Don't stoop to the size queen culture north America has for rolls. Big rolls are awful.
I ate here when it first opened and was in love. But I've tried returning 4 times since and each occasion has been dissapointing. Arigato has a consistency issue.
This place has an excess of...
Read moreThe server missed my order. All of my friends’ food had arrived, and they had already started eating, but even after five minutes, my food still hadn’t come out. I had to call the server, which was difficult despite it being a quiet time at the restaurant. When I asked about my food, the server went to check with the kitchen and came back saying they had forgotten to place my order. I asked them to make it right away, but they said the kitchen staff were currently eating and would start cooking after their meal, so it would take more time.
There is no official break time listed for the restaurant. If our group had entered while the kitchen staff were eating, we would have had no problem waiting. That would’ve been understandable.
However, in this situation, it was the server’s mistake that caused my order to be missed. Expecting a customer to wait even longer because of that error is simply not acceptable. When a mistake like this happens, the staff should apologize and prioritize fixing it immediately. Instead, being told so confidently that they’ll eat first and then make my food only made the situation more frustrating. It’s a very poor way to handle a mistake.
Reply : Wow, you just replied my review and you are saying I'm lying just like you did to all of your customers who wrote a bad reveiw. I don't trust all of the review however if you are keep doing this to every bad reviews are all lying, no one is going to believe you eventually 😂
I have to say, this is the worst response I’ve ever seen. You apologized at first, but then basically called me a liar — that completely undermines any sincerity in your apology. I only shared exactly what happened, and my colleague who was with me saw it as well.
As someone who also runs a business, I know how unfair it can feel to receive negative reviews sometimes, but most customers write honestly based on their experience. You can’t please everyone, but when something has clearly gone wrong, the right thing to do is to sincerely apologize.
If you keep handling situations like this, you will lose all your customers in this small town where word spreads fast. Please don’t respond this way. This is advice from one business owner to another. Customers deserve good service, and you need to show more respect to the people who support...
Read moreWent here last Saturday for supper with my friend. Called to make a reservation but was told they do not take reservations on Fridays and Saturdays. So tell me why when we got there Saturday night, there were 3 tables with RESERVE signs?
Menu was very extensive. Too many stuff that it is a doozy to choose which ones to order. Menu book felt like an actual book. Maybe streamline your menu because with that many foods in your inventory, I doubt all of your inventory is fresh.
Food was OK. Big servings which is good for the price. Did not like my spicy tuna roll at all. Very bland and absolutely horrible. My friend did like the crazy girl roll though but found her udon just OK. I however, loved the soondobu jigae as it hits the spot on that very cold night.
Throughout the evening, we felt very rushed. We even got our bill right away eventhough we did not ask for it yet. And then we were told that our table has been reserved so we should go. Again, I thought you do not take reservations on the weekends.
As much as I wanted to complain about the service and the food, I decided to keep my mouth shut and just enjoy the night catching up with an old friend. But our night ended at the bottom of your CONCRETE stairs. Literally. As my friend slipped on the icy steps of your front stairs. Thank God she did not hit her head. I ran back inside to tell you guys what happened and all I got were your servers staring at me, a manager (or I think she was the manager since when I asked for who the manager was, they all pointed at her) meekly saying sorry. And that was it. No one asked if my friend was OK. No one even went out to see if she was OK or even to help her up. Because of this fall, she had to miss a week of work.
I was happy when you guys opened. There is a lack of diversity when it came to restaurants in this city. I was even planning on bringing my parents here this summer when they visit but not anymore.
This place only cares about how many tables they can sell. Food was just OK but the service was...
