Denny's Restaurant — Restaurant in Regina

Been coming to this Denny’s location for over 10yrs and lately have noticed the service has been inconsistent. Some days the service is amazing (being seated, ordering drinks, ordering food, being checked on by waitstaff in a timely manner) and other days the wait time to even get a drink order takes over 15min.

We came to Denny’s last night at 7pm (party of 3) and the restaurant wasn’t packed, it looked like the place was about 1/3 full. As soon as we were seated, it took almost 20min for someone to take our drink order. It wasn’t even our server, our greeter took our drink orders. By the time our waitress came by, it was almost 7:30pm. It took about 15-20min for our food to arrive (normal wait time) but was pleasantly surprised that the food came fresh, but the portion size was considerably smaller than the previous month when we ordered the same thing. Our waitress brought one of us a refill but left the empty cup at the edge of the table.

We finished our meal by 7:50pm and our waitress hadn’t checked on us since she delivered our food. We had empty cups (3) at the edge of the table and she just kept walking by it. We couldn’t even find her to ask for a to-go container and our bill, we had to ask someone else (assuming the manager or owner by the way he walked around and talked to the guests). Someone else (our greeter) brought us our container and bill and we didn’t even see our waitress until we were leaving our table when she asked us how everything was.

There were tables near us that ordered food before our table and didn’t receive their food until after we were almost done ours. Our section specifically seemed like we were being neglected by the waitress because we never saw her and she looked like she disappeared after taking our orders and/or delivering the food.

Overall, not happy with the experience and disappointed with how the service has been inconsistent the last few months. I’ve received better service on a busy morning at Denny’s than I do on slow evenings, so I guess I know what times to...

We don't normally go to Denny's for brunch, but my son and I popped in today at 11 wanting something different from our usual spots. Expectations originally weren't high due to it being a chain. We were wrong! Our server was attentive despite the restaurant being extremely busy. She had no issues with special modifications/requests to our meals. We ordered a kids waffle meal and country fried steak with eggs. With how busy the restaurant was, we expected food to come out slow... but infact it arrived promptly and she ensured we had everything that we needed!

However the reason I'm writing this review is because we were sat at a booth with full view of the kitchen and pass today. I believe it was the manager running the pass and I wanted to comment how INCREDIBLE it was watching him work. He was inspecting all dishes before they went out and calmly gave feedback to the kitchen when adjustments were needed. He was running food to tables when the servers weren't immediately available. He was replacing items for tables when there were mixups in communication. He juggled all of this with a very calm, friendly demeanor and even found a moment to crack a joke with the table next to us which they enjoyed. We overheard them comment on how hardworking this manager was as well. Having worked in F&B in the past, I can vouch that this work ethic isn't to be found everywhere. During our recent dining experience, an individual who appeared to hold a managerial role attended to our table in lieu of our customary waiter. Promptly, we noticed a rather disconcerting flaw as the gravy accompanying our meal arrived at a less than desirable temperature. Courteously, we conveyed our concern and a fresh serving was graciously provided.

In an attempt to secure the necessary condiments for our gastronomic preferences, I endeavored to capture the attention of our temporary attendant prior to his departure. Regrettably, my request for mayonnaise was acknowledged with a mere affirmation, only to be followed by an inexplicable absence.

After a subsequent attempt, I managed to engage his attention, though it was met with an aura of discontent. Reminding him of the sought-after mayonnaise for the burger I had yet to savor, I observed his communication with the culinary team through the bustling restaurant environment. Alas, a disheartening gesture was executed as the culinary artisans appeared to taint the condiment, which was then presented to me with an air of indifference.

Opting to abstain from utilizing the compromised offering, I determined it best to forego the mayonnaise, thus concluding an evening that regrettably fell short of our expectations.
