This used to be our go to for chinese food in the city. Always fresh and worth the price as they are almost the most expensive in the city. Last nights order changed that and the food quality was horrible. To start off they started the take out order with informing us that the menu prices have went up. This was disheartening as it was already expensive food to order but we still continued to order as it always has been worth the price. The dry ribs were overcooked, tough, and splintered from a bad butcher job. The sweet and sour bone in ribs were FULL of splinter that my daughter almost swallowed. The chicken balls and breaded shrimp were overcooked, completely saturated by grease and also so dark in color resulting from oil not being changed in who knows how long. These items were about $70 of our $102 meal. The other itmes we ordered we made fresh and tasted good. We called Regency to complain and and also advised on how often we order from them. We offered to pay for the items that we edible and wanted a refund on the items that were not and ultimately going to end up in the trash. After numerous excuses and them telling us nothing has changed in their food quality, and basically dismissing the fact that we were loyal customers of theirs, they refused the refund. We will never eat here again as this may have been a terrible experience this time we have also noticed in the last couple previous orders from them that their food quality isn't as good as it is used to. Clearly, they also don't care about having loyal customers.
In response to their response... Regency Palace Family Restaurant we offered to return the food. You said it would not make a difference. You offered a $25 gift certificate towards our NEXT meal NOT a partial refund which is what we asked for. Your quality has went completely down hill. Also, no other Chinese food restaurants have raised their prices, yours have went up and as I mentioned you were already the most expensive in the city. No point in arguing...
Read moreWOW!! We hit the Jackpot yesterday for lunch! We live in Moose Jaw and are so discouraged with the poor quality of chinese food with each and every restaurant we have tried here, we no longer order chinese food. We had to visit Regina to do some shopping and thought we would try Regency Palace for lunch, hoping we could find some decent Chinese food for a change. Well - we hit the Jackpot - finally! We ordered the Dinner for 2, along with Chicken Chow Mein with crispy noodles and it was amazing! The food was fresh, cooked perfectly - the vegetables were cooked just right, with the perfect amount of "crunch". The crispy noodles complimented the chow mein vegetables perfectly with just the perfect amount of sauce to soften the noodles without making them soggy. Perfect variety of vegetables too and so fresh tasting! Lots of chicen pieces in the chow mein and very tender. The pork and chicken balls were done perfectly (more chicken than batter). The rice dish was not greasy with cheap frozen vegetables that we get in Moose Jaw. The Won Ton soup that came with the dinner (choice of Egg Roll or Won Ton Soup) was delicious with a good portion of Won Tons. For the first time in a very long time, we took our leftovers home with us to enjoy today and we sure enjoyed it today. Usually we leave the food we don't finish at the restaurant as it's not worth bringing home. Not this time! For the first time in a very long time, we didn't require any soy sauce to make the meal taste better, it was so tasty and delicious already! The service was extremely great - our waitress was wonderful! The Regency Palace will now be our "go to" restaurant to visit when we have a hankering for chinese food - it's totally worth the drive to Regina! Also - the prices weren't outrageous as some reviews state, we pay the same prices here in Moose Jaw for much lower...
Read moreIt had been many years since I had been at Regency Palace. The food selection was good. I have to be very selective with what I put into my mouth. I can not have shell fish so I had to ensure what I had on plate had no traces. There was one dish that I thought it wouldn't have any, it turned out to have some. Oh well, but the crispy chicken, roasted BBQ duck, beef with Gai lon, and yu Choy were that I could have compared to the few other dishes that were on the table and able to comment on. The dishes I was able to taste were ok, but felt that it was missing a bit of something to make the flavours pop.
They offered red bean sweet dessert, which really was bland and I can make it better then what they gave us for a dessert.
The service was good, given that we were a larger group, hard to keep up with our requests for more iced water or hot water for our pot of teas. The food service was decent and was not waiting as long as what I had previously visit from years before...
