4 stars instead of 5 mainly due to the dumb set up of the hotel (take elevator then walk down stairs). Pros: fairly close to things if you don't have a car. Giant Tiger is right next to the hotel. Dollarama and some fast food restaurants are across the street. friendly staff hot breakfast (cheese omelette in cling wrap, sausage, waffle maker) clean room towels that dry skin amazingly well dove bar soap and lotion was provided. Can ask for more if need it NO BUGS in the room! Not on the bed or in the corners of the room. Not even a daddy long legs. Not even a fly in the room. claims to be a non smoking hotel free wifi throughout the hotel HOT water. It was wonderful to take a hot shower. Has fridge and microwave in the room (well, makes sure to request a room with microwave if you need it). The mini fridge was a decent size, and the microwave was clean. I appreciate how clean this hotel is. can check in late/check out really early, which helps when having a late or early flight
Cons/things that can be improved: having a floor for each level so guests don't need to walk up and down stairs with their heavy bags despite taking an elevator. Or at least replace those stairs with ramps to make it easier cleaning the walls or repainting them regularly, and using deodorizer on the carpet at minimum after every stay. My room smelled musty/nasty and like someone previously smoked in it. We notified the front desk so they knew it wasn't us, but we didn't ask for a new room because it was such a hassle getting to ours, and we didn't want to go through that again. We just kept the room window open for our entire stay (which didn't help much). a better assortment of tea. They only had coffee, Earl Grey tea, and periodically hot chocolate. It's standard for hotels to at least also carry peppermint tea, chamomile tea, and orange pekoe. As a non coffee drinker, I was very disappointed with the tea selection. hot chocolate was kept in the breakfast area that closed (and locked) at 10am, instead of where the teas are. Depending on the staff member, they may or may not be willing to get it for you after that time even if you request it. They'll just say they "don't know if there's any more" instead of checking if it's actually there. But some staff will check I would've appreciated some snack items or cold breakfast availability after 10am (at least muffins, granola bars, or something). Guests are tired from their travels and may need to sleep in. At least if they miss the hot breakfast, it would be great if something else could be available other than Earl Grey tea and coffee. would've appreciated if the coffee maker in the room was clean. It was dirty and we didn't have the tools to clean it. Had to go to lobby for hot water every time
Would I stay here again? Yes, because I know they don't have bugs, which is most important to me, and especially impressive because they're a hotel that allows pets. They also have hot breakfast if I can wake up for it. And the room was clean.
Next time, I'll request a new room if it smells like smoke, and request a room on the floor with...
Read moreWe booked a room with 2 double beds for $89 (taxes included) but when we checked in, we were upgraded for free to a larger room with 2 queen sized beds.
The room had a microwave, a bar sink, and a mini fridge. The room had updated furnishings, but tired carpeting. There was a beautiful gigantic print on the wall above each bed, each depicting a different scene from Saskatchewan. Everything was spotlessly clean.
The shower had pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash mounted on the wall. The brand of all 3 was Dove Cool Moisture. (After using the conditioner, my hair was very shiny and smooth when it dried.)
The front desk service was excellent. The clerk cheerfully provided us with paper plates for us to heat up our own food in the microwave.
Breakfast was free and it was a little lacklustre, but again, it was FREE. (Served 6 am to 10 am) It consisted of cheese omelettes (prepared using American cheese slices), hard boiled eggs, make-your-own waffles, a variety of cold cereals, Yoplait and Activia yogurt cups, Quaker oatmeal packages, sausage patties, and white or whole wheat bread. Two 4 slice toasters were available for guests to use. Orange juice, coffee, and tea were available.
My 2 sole complaints:
The room was a bit noisy. The footsteps of the guest in the room above ours were very audible. When they flushed their toilet, it was sounded like Niagara Falls in our room. Our heating vent fan made a sound that made me think a vacuum cleaner was being used in the room next door, but it turned out just to be the heater. We also kept hearing a repetitive tapping sound, that also was probably from the heater.
The WiFi was very slow and it kept dropping. It took ages for any web page to load.
Due to these 2 issues, I deducted one star from my rating. Otherwise, I would have given this hotel 5 stars.
Overall, I think this was a great room for the price. Highly recommended if you want a...
Read moreVery rude front desk guy Saturday evening, couldn't check me in three hours after I booked on Expedia because the reservation hadn't arrived in his system, told him he could pull the virtual credit card from Expedia Portal or let me pay and refund later, very easy to do but he told me I'd have to wait two hours till it came through as they use satellite as it's slow so I should go out to eat somewhere or I can call Expedia and cancel and go to a different hotel which is appalling business practice . Eventually they let me in, he legitimately laughed in my face and seemed very unaccomodating. Terrible TV reception, called and asked for two plates to be brought, we were in closest room to front desk, was told by girl at front, 'uhmmm. I guess so', broken switch on lamp, tub/shower switch didn't work properly. Sat in lobby waiting for my room listening to the Front Desk Staff talk bad about some person, very unprofessional. The breakfast was lackluster but reflected in price point though front desk service should not be at any price point. I typically go to Best Westerns but gave Super 8 a try and don't think I'll ever stay at a Wyndham affiliate again. We asked for late checkout and were extended to noon, I was in shower at 11:40 and asked my girlfriend to call and request conditioner to be brought as she did not want to go to lobby due to the check-in experience she was told, 'Aren't you due to check out?' and declined, I think someone eventually came to the door with it but she did not feel comfortable answering at that point. Bed sheets refused to adhere to the bed. Hair in the tub. Absolute horrendous experience. I've worked Front Desk for years and would NEVER treat a...
