Alfred's — Restaurant in Revelstoke

This is not another ho-hum Italian place.

As a flavour-chaser I tend to avoid Italian in favour of more exotic fare, so I expected the usual and to leave content yet pasta-bloated. Nope! Everything we tried was a tiny bit out-of-the-ordinary or had some delicious spin.

We ordered to share: Foccacia with house butter (so good we ordered it twice) Fried Olives Shrimp beurre monte Alfreds salad with pear Roasted squash Gnocchi Beef cheek Spezzatino Chocolate Mousse Several yummy and unique cocktails

I won’t bore you by describing everything, standouts were the fried olives (they’re battered?!) the squash (blissful - type of dish to have you coming again and again), the shrimp (sauce is A+ focaccia dip), I’m not a red meat person but the hubs raved about how tender the beef cheek was and was very happy to have it all to himself.

Service was super friendly and they explained/recommended complimentary dishes. Everyone there seemed awesome, zero notes.

Drawbacks? I honestly can’t think of anything. Suggest a reso so you don’t have to wait. It's not a big place. Google will ask me if its accessible as well – and from what I remember there is one step outside, there is also one single bathroom (very clean) and it’s not huge – something to consider if that can make or break an experience for you.

Would I go back? Heck...

Regrets....not checking out Alfreds sooner! This restaurant is outstanding. I'd say best savory food I've eaten in town, which says a lot because there's a few other places i really love! They have a vegan menu, a gluten free menu and a general menu which makes it easy to order and feel confident knowing what you can have if you have dietary needs. I got the vegan roasted squash, which was incredible and if I had enough room after my main, I would have gotten it for dessert too. Then the gluten free vegan pasta, also incredible, ohhh that sauce!!! 🤤 My partner got the chicken for an appy and gnocci for his main. He was also super happy with his choices...we were wondering if it would be frowned upon to lick our plates clean? 😅 This was a couple days ago and I'm still thinking about it. The service was really great too, informative, kind and prompt. So thankful we got a spot before the pop up closes....

Went for a date night to Alfred’s tonight, and was absolutely blown away. John our server, did an absolutely incredible job keeping on top of our drinks and food. We ordered the shrimp with focaccia and honestly the best shrimp we have ever had. The sauce was to die for, with big juicy shrimp. We will definitely be returning just for this meal!! We also ordered the squash and the gnocchi both were also outstanding dishes, the gnocchi just melts in your mouth. We finished up on a chocolate mouse and it was just as yummy as everything else with a little salted caramel drizzle. This place is definitely worth visiting, the value for money is...
