Loved by Locals When multiple ski bums at Revelstoke Mountain Resort tell you to check out a place, you listen. That’s how we found ourselves at The Village Idiot Bar & Grill, a spot so beloved by locals that will make you feel like family if you haven’t been there. Rumor has it they serve the best pizza in town, but in true après-ski fashion, our group immediately abandoned that recommendation for burgers and deep-fried glory. We started with a half order of nachos (because a full order might require a separate ski lift) and Idiot Sticks, which are essentially crispy, cheesy breadsticks perfect for pre-meal carb-loading. Both were dangerously filling, but we powered through—because ski legs deserve a reward. Despite the pizza hype, my friends all went rogue and ordered burgers. Not a single complaint was heard, and even the house-made veggie burger earned an enthusiastic two thumbs up—high praise from a group that usually treats vegetables like an obstacle course. As for me, I went all in on the chimichanga, a behemoth stuffed with pulled pork, rice, and beans, then smothered in their toasted tomato sauce. It was massive. It was glorious. And it was impressively well-executed, proving that The Village Idiot knows their way around more than just bar food. Pro tip: Get there early. By 7 PM on a Monday, the place was packed—because skiers and locals know where the good food is. If you’re looking for a great meal with a lively atmosphere, this is your spot. Just don’t be the idiot who shows up late.

We visited the place on Sunday, August 17th 2025, at around 7:30 pm. We got in and there was a big line waiting to be seated and nobody there. The host then seated us a few mins after, very nice big table, the atmosphere was really nice, the playlist was amazing. Our drinks took a few mins but nothing too long, I got a peach Bellini that was tasting amazing! The food took forever, though, despite the place being half empty. When the food finally arrived after what it seemed to have been like half hour, it was warm but not hot, and everyone was served but one person! And that was the awkward wait for the last person on our table to be served so we could all start eating together. Oh, and we had to switch tables because the one we were seated originally was under the air conditioning vents and there was a cold breeze at all times - a few of us went back to the hotel to grab sweatshirts, especially for the kids shivering lol - but after we switched tables it was very comfortable. Staff was really nice. Food besides the temperature tasted very, very good, I got a half rack and it was falling from the bone and sooooo tasty. That won the 3 stars!

This was a great location to eat at, if you have the time for them. We came in kind of at the time of dinner rush but were greeted by the hostess and enjoyed the theme of the locations we wanted to stay for more. After being seated for about 15 minutes, our waitress let us place our order but it wasn't until at the end of placing our order that she let us know that there would be about a 30 minute wait time for food from the kitchen. There were two other groups of people who went to the same table next to us who got up and left after about 10 minutes of sitting there without acknowledgement. However when the food finally did come out, it was very flavorful and good portions. The Caesar drinks they make are unique and tasty, highly recommend the pickle version. It's like a bloody Mary with a Twist. There is also a nice outdoor patio, see attached images. The place overall has a very neat Village Idiot theme with interesting names on the menu that adds a personalized twist.

Title: Unfortunate Disappointment Despite Positive Reviews

Rating: ⭐⭐

Review: We recently visited this restaurant that had received numerous rave reviews, and unfortunately, my experience fell far short of the high expectations set by those reviews. From the slow and unresponsive service to the underwhelming food quality, my visit was a disappointing affair.

First and foremost, the service left much to be desired. Despite the restaurant being well-staffed, the service was incredibly slow, and the staff lacked a proactive attitude. It was disheartening to witness their lack of attentiveness and engagement with diners. Simple requests seemed to take an eternity to fulfill, and it became evident that customer satisfaction was not a top priority for the staff.

Furthermore, the food itself was, at best, average. The dishes lacked the promised flair and creativity that had been highlighted in the positive reviews. The flavors were bland and unremarkable, leaving me yearning for more excitement on my palate. It was evident that the kitchen failed to deliver the culinary excellence that had been anticipated based on the restaurant's reputation.

It was genuinely disappointing to have such a lackluster experience at a restaurant that had garnered numerous positive reviews. While it's possible that my visit was an anomaly, the slow and inattentive service coupled with the average food quality were hard to overlook.

It's important to note that tastes and expectations can vary, and the restaurant may still have redeeming qualities that others appreciate. However, based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to others seeking a memorable dining experience with attentive service and exceptional cuisine.

In conclusion, despite the restaurant's favorable reviews, my visit was marked by slow and unresponsive service, as well as underwhelming food. I hope that the management takes the necessary steps to address these shortcomings and elevate the overall dining experience to match the expectations set by...

The Village Idiot oozes with character. You open the door into a tardis full of ski culture.

Unfortunately upon opening the door we were informed of a 15 minute wait for a table. This would've been fine had we been offered a seat at the bar (it being a principally a bar after all), however we were told that this would not be possible and to politely go away. They don't take bookings which is somewhat idiotic.

The menu is great. Dishes are given funny names, and very irregular prices in keeping with the idiotic theme. The whole restaurant is a vibrant mix of colour, and the vibe is light hearted and friendly.

The food was good and came soon after ordering. I ordered the Habibi Bowl. Affordably priced, it was nice to see a restaurant put on a truly healthy dish and pull it off too. Service was solid, although a personal gripe of mine would be how the waitress removed some of our plates before others had finished. The table should be uniformly laid and cleared, otherwise service may feel disjointed and put pressure on customers to finish their food prematurely.

Furthermore, there were some insects inside The Village Idiot when we attended, but given the vibe of the place this was no real bother.

All in all, The Village Idiot is a fantastic asset to Revelstoke. In a somewhat featureless town in the mountains, they should be very grateful to have such a cultured...
