My partner and I stayed one night on the way home from Vancouver, I booked on Expedia and paid 102$ for the night.
Parking: Parking is free and is a lot right outside of the hotel. Simple and easy. 5/5
Service: Service was great and the person at the front desk was very kind and concise with their answers to my questions. We had an issue and they came and fixed it no problem, apologized for the inconvenience, and was lighthearted when we said it was no big deal. 5/5
Amenities: There was water and cups in the lobby. A tea and coffee station in our room, a small fridge but no kitchenette, and a very nice spacious shower. There was free breakfast with cereal, boiled eggs, fruit, juices, toast, coffee and tea; this was in a nice open room with a courtyard view. There is a wing and burger place connected to the hotel as well. We had a ground floor room so I’m unsure if there was an elevator. I also think I saw some type of hotel discount on transit if you were skiing or snowboarding! 4.5/5
Rooms: Our room was ground floor and had a very comfortable king size bed, a mini fridge, AC, a very large wall mounted TV, and a very clean modern bathroom with a large shower and great water pressure. I also really liked their baby soaps, they smelled great and were little disks with orange flecks in them. The toilet also has buttons on top instead of a handle which I thought was neat. On the Expedia listing it warned our room was “susceptible to noise” but I was pleasantly surprised that I couldn’t hear anyone above us HOWEVER we did hear a couple rowdy groups walk by in the early evening but not enough to bother us and it was the weekend so it’s to be expected. The room was also very clean and all of the furniture was modern but still “mountainy.” 5/5
Location: The hotel has a large stand alone sign which was easy to spot while driving and is in a more residential area of the town. We didn’t do much exploring but as I said there is a wing and burger place attached and I believe I saw a pub right nearby across the road. When I walked around the block I didn’t see anything of note but it was quiet and pleasant. We were only 3 minutes drive from the grocery store and gas station when it was time to leave. The view was also stunning as we were completely surrounded by the mountains. 4.5/5
TLDR: Would stay again in a heartbeat. Room was clean, bed was comfy, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was okay (but free!) and location was good but nothing of note. The showers were my...
Read moreThe room was clean and the beds were comfy. The location is good, if you plan to walk through downtown. Other reviewers complained about paper thin walls, but all I heard was someone walking around above us once. Then again, I don't think there were many people staying in the hotel the night we were there.
That said, I was irked by a few things. First, they will charge you more ($10 per person for us) if you have more than two people staying in a room. Even though we had two queen beds, they still charged more. What's the extra money for? Cleaning two extra towels? If you plan to stay here with more than two people, save some cash by booking for two and sneaking others in through the doors at the end of the hallways (you can edit through them but not enter).
There was also a number of minor issues with the bathroom that irked me: The door was really hard to close as it rubbed against the frame. Looking at the door, I'm pretty sure the frame want installed squarely (as opposed to the door being installed at an angle or a lose hinge) because one side looked fine while the other rubbed. In fact, you could see a crack at the bottom of the frame from all the forcing people have done to get the door to shut. The shower's glass door had a small gap on the side of the facet. This looked like poor planning because the gap was caused by part of the glass bumping into part of the shower surround, meaning it's probably not fixable. Not a big deal to be honest - I didn't notice any water leaking, but I honestly didn't look too closely. There's not a lot of counter space so they installed a little glass shelf above the toilet. Our shelf was loose and angled downward. It's only a master of time before it falls or rips off the wall. The shower drain plug was detached. We had to take it out completely when showering otherwise water would pool. The sink had a weird angle to the basin. When spitting tooth paste or pouring water, you need to be careful so it didn't splash back. There was no tissue box in the room. We had to blow our noses with toilet paper.
Also, the ceiling in the hallways are really low (just above the door frame) for some reason. It was normal height in the room. Finally, the floor is laminate and was bouncy in a few areas, which bus me.
None of these things are deal breakers, and I would stay here again, but I feel like the renos that were last done may have been in haste. Also, a little care to do some maintenance could...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for one night on our way back to Victoria. Our room, a single King room, was small and clean, but a few things I noted:
TV remote did not function (volume and power did not work, so we had to stand up in order to turn on/off the TV and were completely unable to adjust the sound)
There was small bit of dried hair or dirt in the bottom of our shower upon arrival
There is ZERO SOUNDPROOFING. You can hear just about EVERYTHING coming from outside your room. Things I heard during our stay that were loud enough to keep me from sleeping (and I’m a fairly deep sleeper): every single noise coming from the hallway (people walking, someone blowing their nose) *every step and noise from the room above us sounded like an elephant walking music and people talking from outside our windows the rooms next to us opening/closing their blinds the air conditioning units of the rooms next to us
*I was irritatingly woken up at midnight by the sound of the room upstairs stomping around and dropping things. And FYI, the ceiling “squeaks” LOUDLY with every step (it sounded like elephants stomping) so it seemed next to impossible for me to fall asleep while they were moving around.
The outside of the building had no clear entrance marked, which was a bit confusing, but the STAFF WERE LOVELY AND WELCOMING!
CONCLUSION: I was unable to sleep from about 12:00 AM - 2:30 AM because of our noisy upstairs neighbours and the sound of heavy bass music coming from outside our windows (probably from a car parked nearby). The staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming. With all this said, I am satisfied...
