Worst experience ever!!!! Let me start by saying that they have too much ego. Some chicken and kebab with a design does not deserve a super ego. First of all, I have fine dined at many Toronto restaurants namely Harbour 60 and to this day I have not seen such super ego in any of them. Secondly, this place is packed and there is no room to breath or space to move if you book a spot for weekend dinner. This is because the owner wants to make the maximum profit out of every little space he got in his restaurant and hence he has 150 spots in a restaurant where the maximum capacity is just 75 spots. Third, the food is 1-1.5 hour late and usually cold by the time it gets to you. Fourth, service is horrible. While you sit there in a jam packed environment with no room to breath and/or move for an hour to an hour and a half for food to arrive, you can listen to some live music. During this time, you would only be served with some water and if you don't order drinks, the waiters will not be coming around. Finally the cold food arrives after 1.5 hours and if you complain about any of the above, they will send you to their obnoxious manager who is going to try to convince you otherwise. All and all, their platters are extremely expensive and will cost you anywhere between 200-300 dollars for some kebabs with a design. I personally think that the owner and his wife at this particular place are selling the design on a kebab but not the actual kebab itself. That is the reason for the high mark ups. They also are heavily involved in social media and get all their friends and family to give them a 5 star rating. This place is a 2.5 star to at its best 3 star restaurant, You be the Judge. Don't forget that if you go for their platter for two people and some drinks, this will cost you about 200 dollars plus taxes. For parties of 6 and more, they automatically add 18 percent gratuity to your bill so be careful with the same. Some sharp practices there. I forgot to mention if you book for holidays and weekends, you need to call ahead and place a deposit usually 60-70 dollars to reserve your spot. BTW, their manager's behaviour was the most obnoxious behaviour I have ever seen in any restaurants I have been to in Toronto. STAY AWAY FROM THIS...
Read moreWe visited Chef Reza last night and, while we were warmly greeted by very friendly and attentive staff, the rest of the experience left us deeply disappointed.
First, the food itself was underwhelming, served a bit cold and dry, lacking the warmth and flavor one would expect at a restaurant of this reputation. But what truly ruined the evening was the incredibly loud live music. The volume was so extreme that it was physically uncomfortable to sit through. Even a day later, my ear is still ringing. I’ve been told by others that the music isn’t usually this loud, which makes me wonder what went wrong this time but regardless, it was unbearable.
More troubling, however, was the sudden turn the night took when the host on stage began making political commentary. While everyone is entitled to their views, a restaurant filled with families should not be a venue for politicized messaging. The speaker’s remarks, particularly about promoting regime change in Iran, felt inappropriate and disrespectful given the recent tragic attacks in the region. It was jarring and unsettling to be subjected to that in what should have been a neutral, welcoming space.
What broke my heart the most was seeing young children trying to cover their ears, visibly distressed by the excessive volume. It’s clear that the sound system is not properly configured for the size of the venue, resulting in booming, piercing audio instead of clear, enjoyable music.
I won’t be returning to Chef Reza, for two main reasons:
The painfully loud and poorly configured sound system that made the evening feel more like an endurance test than a dinner.
The inappropriate injection of political commentary into what should have been a peaceful, family-friendly environment.
I sincerely hope the restaurant reconsiders the direction it’s taking with its entertainment and atmosphere. Friendly staff can’t make up for an experience that feels more punishing...
Read more1-Washroom needs renovation for sure. 2-Best kebab torsh i had in toronto. Rest of the kebabs were just ok. Nothing special.i had better kobideh elsewhere. 3-One problem is when they serve food on platter, bc they spend lots of time to make it pretty,(which is not pretty to me at all,its more like too much 🫣) food get very cold by the time it get to your table. 4-They have to come up with a better table settings , people are dancing on dance floor, and servers need to pass to other side of the restaurant with big platters, so you have to stop dancing and make room for them to pass.this doesn’t make sense to me at all. I was on dance floor for 3 minutes and have to pause and make room for servants to pass 4 times. 5- another example to prove my point about very bad table setting is when servers trying to remove finished platters on table beside you, they have to ask you to leave your chair so they can take the platter. There is not enough room for them to move around tables without asking you to leave your chair(which is annoying). 6- all staff very professional and very sweet and nice. Our host erfan and ainaz tried their best , they were amazing. 7- wine menu: worst wine selection I’ve ever seen. All No Name brands, i believe they need to get consult on wine menue from experts ,also educate their staff on alcohol menu. Even restaurant manager didn’t have clear idea of their wine menu. My experience is when for example you ask for merlot wine, they have to know the brands by heart. Which wasnt the case last night for us. But to be fair the manager agreed to change our wine, after we taste it and we didnt liked it. 8- the music is so loud for the small space that we couldn’t socialize at all, we couldn’t even hear each other. But i cant say this is a negative point. Maybe some people like it this way. 9- 3 stars i gave them is for all nice staff, clean restaurant, clean silverware and...
